Poor Rooms but good hotel.
We recently stayed at Tabaiba Princess Hotel with our Two year old son and would say this is average hotel with some plus points but also unfortunately some negatives. We arrived at the hotel to be given a room on the Maspalomas side of the hotel which before coming we had heard the rooms on that side were a bit tired compared to the Tabaiba side. When we got to our room we were extremely disappointed..especially given that this is down on Tui as 4+ star hotel! The floor as we entered the room was broken and lifted so dangerous for a two year old, when my wife sat on the bed it completely collapsed and broke. Then the toilet roll holder fell off the wall and the bath clearly hadn’t been cleaned as it was full of pubic hair in! My wife then visited the reception to complain and we were given a second room which again had a damaged/lifted floor and broken kick board. So we went back down to reception again and this time got the Tui Rep involved and it was Third time lucky….all be bit a slightly broken bed head board which was fixed quickly by maintenance team. The hotel, food areas, pools etc were all very clean. The food at Breakfast, evening meal & snack bars was great. They did a couple of themed nights throughout which was great too, we visited the Italian restaurant too which was really good! Nighttime entertainment was good too, there also like a mini theme park with bowling alley and restaurants etc about a 20 minute walk away. The main beach was 25 minute walk away too. Only other negative really was the staff doing the photography was very pushy and if you said no they got a bit funny. And also I was little shocked when we arrived to be asked if we wanted to upgrade to “All inclusive plus” this where you pay an extra fee per day to have premier brand drinks, and the pancakes and waffles are included. Now to me all inclusive should mean all inclusive…… I’d never come across this before but maybe just me.
Good hotel just a shame about the rooms…….think it’s just a lottery if you get a good one or not!
Lovely Stay Overall with a Few Niggles
We stayed at the Tabaiba Princess for 9 nights. After booking, I saw some recent reviews and did wonder if I should change plans but honestly, I’m not sure what people are expecting. We had a great family holiday, so I’d take some of those with a pinch of salt.
There are a couple of minor niggles. The air con isn’t the best (and it was very hot while we were there), but we came prepared with small USB desk fans and left the air con running while we were out in the evening, which made sleeping manageable. The gym is well equipped but very warm, definitely a bit of a sweat box! There also aren’t quite enough parasols for the number of sunbeds. I’m an early riser so would grab a bed first thing (you do need to stay with it until 10am), but after that there are plenty of beds available, just not as much shade poolside.
Aside from that, the hotel is brilliantly set up for families. There’s loads for kids to do, and the animation team work really hard. The entertainment wasn’t always our thing, but there’s plenty of variety. The pool area is great, with loads of shallow access points for younger children and an onsite water park too.
Food-wise, there’s lots of choice and it’s well organised, we never saw anything run out and rarely waited more than 5 minutes to be seated in the main restaurant. The pool bars serve food from 10:30–18:00, with one offering the usual pizza, burgers and chips, and the other slightly healthier options. The two bookable restaurants are also buffet style, the Italian was okay, the Asian was better. Drinks are self service in the main, I preferred this, there isn’t then the pressure to continually tip because drinks are being brought to you poolside.
Would we come again? Probably not, only because there are so many places to try. But did we enjoy it? Absolutely, such a lovely family holiday.

our stay in tabaiba princess was amazing, it’s such a family oriented place, with plenty of activities for kids all ages, super fun waterpark, and with a absolutely wonderful animation team. Our kids loved going to the mini club, where they had exciting activities every day, but also going to the mini disco in the evening and watching the beautiful shows after. Big heartfelt thank you to Larisa, without whom our vacation wouldn’t have been the same, to John, who puts so much passion into every dance and to Manu, who has such a contagious energy! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ We hope to come see you guys again, our kids are already asking for it!
Lovely hotel, plenty of sunbeds and an amazing pool
Post booking this hotel (on recommendation from a friend), I got very worried due to the bad reviews on this site but having spent 10 days here I honestly don’t understand where these reviews have come from! The hotel is incredible.
Location wise it’s about 20 mins walk into Melonaras with designer shops, bars and restaurants. Taxi’s can be booked easily at reception for trips to Playa de Inglés and buses are available to Puerto Mogan and Puerto Rico from outside the hotel.
The hotel is huge and there are a lot of sunbeds on top of each other but there are plenty at any time of day. You can’t reserve before 10am but you don’t need to. Even after a couple of trips out we were able to get one at 2pm. Umbrellas are limited but there is natural shade from palm trees and plenty of places to set up for the day.
The pool is huge, broken into 6 separate areas, no inflatables allowed but balls allowed in some sections. The water park is lovely for kids and even older kids and adults can enjoy some of the slides. The adults only area looked lovely but I didn’t use so can’t comment. The pool is open 10am - 7pm and they are strict about those times.
Bali beds are available to book on the day at €25 but there is a queue that starts at 9.45am for these.
The rooms are as you’d expect. We stayed in a standard room on the Tabiba side, these are the same as the Maspalomas side just more recently refurbished. All have showers, good wardrobe space, a safe, a fridge, hair dryer and tea and coffee facilities. The rooms were cleaned daily with bedding and towels changed.
The food was unreal. For an all inclusive it was beyond expectations in the buffet. Fresh salmon, fresh king prawns, themed nights with burritos during the Mexican night. Fresh fruit, salad at every meal. Hot pancakes and made to order omelettes at breakfast. Literally everything and all cooked fresh. Kids can enjoy pizza, pasta etc.
There are two pool side restaurants and bars. One of he restaurants serves healthier lunches whilst the other is a snack bar serving burgers, hot dogs, pizza, nuggets and chips.
Ice cream is available throughout the day and crepes and waffles are available in the afternoon at an additional charge of €3.50.
There are two à la carte restaurants but this is one thing I will say is a negative as they are still buffet. So although they specialise in Asian and Italian it’s a shame they are still buffet and not table service. These are bookable and you get one booking per restaurant per week stay.
Evening entertainment does let the hotel down. There are singers in one of the bars but the evening shows at the theatre area are poor. Bad but comical attempts at tributes and dance shows, I have definitely seen better at worse hotels. During the day the animation team did a lot! Daily water activities such as aqua gym, water bingo, water polo and a water mat activity. There were volley ball games, a foam party and other games for kids.
Round the pool the music only came on when the animation team were doing something otherwise it was chilled and quiet.
There is a spa but we didn’t use it so can’t comment. Car hire is also available.
There is a boulevard with 3 shops, one selling jewellery, and a couple selling clothes.
Inside the hotel there is a supermarket and a herbalist. The supermarket is pricey but there is a local one behind the hotel that is a lot cheaper!
Staff are friendly, always smiling and saying hello!
Drinks in the all inclusive are the usual house spirits. Cocktails are all pre mixed and a bit sweet as is the Aperol which is on tap. Slushies are available so easy to get a vodka and mix with a slushie for your own cocktail!
Overall the hotel is excellent. For us it was great value for money and I would recommend if you want a relaxing break.
