At the hotel guests will enjoy a familiar holiday of relax and leisure in Maspalomas, the destination of the warm sun and golden sand beaches. The complex is located next to shopping malls, an amusement park, the local market and recreational areas; the airport is less than 28 kilometers away. In addition, southern Gran Canaria offers spectacular landscapes such as the stunning Maspalomas dunes or the kilometer-long Playa del Inglés. With the Maspalomas golf course surrounded by slender Canarian palm trees as a backdrop, the resort offers comfort and service in a cozy and familiar atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and some dispose of a terrace or balcony. The resort has pool area for adults and for children, also, sport lovers can joy the billiard and table tennis.
I just got back after a 1 week all inclusive stay with my family and it was great! We arrived a few hours before the check-in (4am departure) so our room wasn't ready, but we were given immediate use the facilities so got some food and were able to relax after a few glasses of wine.
How anyone can say there isn't any choice of food is beyond me, its a buffet with some things cooked fresh while you wait, you can eat inside or outside though undercover. Breakfast has the regulars like bacon, sausages, egg etc. (no mushrooms though), churros, pancakes, cereals, toast, lots of fruit; with the regular continental options too. For lunch and dinner they always have the regulars of chips, pizza and chicken nuggets for kids with a mixture of meat and fish dishes, some with potatoes some with rice. Its was never bland, maybe a little dry or overcooked sometimes buts its a buffet! There are the typical salad choices: lettuce, tomato, cucumber but also more exotic ones like capers, olives, etc. and a wide range of sauces, oils and vinegar's. They were never short of bread rolls either. Deserts for lunch and dinner are ice cream/sauces/sprinkles, fruits, cakes. They have all the normal soft drinks with beer, and wines on tap too: red, white, rose and sangria (try it). My only regret was going to the Italian buffet only once, its still free but you need to book, the food is more familiar and its quiet.
The room was lovely, you are given the option of how often you want it cleaned and each has its own wifi which my son thrashed. It had air-con, mini fridge, huge bathroom with bath and shower, bug wardrobe with a safe, table, chairs and loungers on the porch.
The pools are cleaned daily, some are deeper than others, inflatables were always allowed. you need to get up early if you want a pool side spot, But we just walked the whole 30 meters each time we took a dip and stopped at the pool bar on the way back - oh the stress! Blue pool towels are supplied and can be changed every few days.
The kids entertainment starts at 7pm and blends into the regular evening entertainment. the entertainment team are great and do a long shift from 11am to 11pm keeping everyone happy, Nacho was my daughters favourite. The pool bar has the regular soft drinks as self service; with beer, cider and cocktails and regular drinks being served by staff.
We did a few day trips to Mogan market and a boat ride with multiacuatic to go dolphin/whale/flying-fish spotting. Reception can help advise and although you are not near the main city or beach there are close pickup points a 10 minute walk away and the taxis are cheap. Spanish is the main language with English being a close second, all the tourism customer facing staff speak both, and are considerate to the fact you don't, so they always want to make sure you understand. This can lead to funny situations like the coach tour guide describing a minor car accident on the way: "there is traffic now...it looks like a accident....between a motorbike and car....no one looks seriously injured...oh the police have arrived now.....we are just passing now on the left...."
In 7 days I saw 1 of the famous cats, it was a regular who would get discreetly chased out the restaurant if he came in or get lured out with treats - he understood the game.
As for cockroaches I saw 1 or 2 the whole time, at dusk, and nowhere near the restaurant, missed the first but got the second, it could have been the same one. They get a bad rap as they are uncommon in the UK except in the most dire cases. But I'll take them over the spiders in Kenya any day of the week!
This is a family resort so don't go near term-time if you don't like kids and noise, if you have kids its the usual.
I wish I was still there. Says it all really.
We had a lovely week away with our family, but if I'm honest, we spent a lot of our time outside the hotel, which says a lot about our overall experience.
The food was very hit and miss. Some meals were enjoyable, while others were poor with very little choice or quality. The biggest issue was seeing cockroaches inside the buffet restaurant around the drinks area, which was extremely off-putting.
The outdoor drink stations were also disappointing. Every single one was dirty and crawling with ants, making them feel unhygienic. The drinks themselves were poor too – unless you were drinking the draught lager or Strongbow, the rest were pretty unpleasant.
The sun loungers are old, ripped and uncomfortable, and the rooms are looking very tired and in desperate need of updating. While some of the bar staff were friendly, others were particularly rude, which didn't make for a welcoming atmosphere.
Unfortunately, to top it all off, my brother ended up bringing a cockroach home in his luggage, which was the final straw for us.
You really do get what you pay for, and in our opinion this is definitely a 3-star hotel, not anything more. We made the best of our holiday and enjoyed our time as a family, but that was despite the hotel rather than because of it.
Sadly, we would not return and wouldn't recommend it unless you're simply looking for a cheap base and plan to spend most of your time away from the hotel.
Hotel location is isolated,Hotel it self is clean, food is hit and miss most day cold food but saying that plenty of choice.Cats people mentioned are not as bad as they say in two weeks we were there never smelted cat wee. Pools are cleaned every day. Would not stop here again to isolated Bus/taxis are not expensive to get around
Great place to relax with the kids The kids club was great 👍
Going to give an honest review of this hotel, firstly I hope this puts anyone travelling to this hotel soon mind at rest as I read very mixed reviews before I went & spent weeks worrying about it! But please don't, we had a fantastic time, in my opinion your holiday is what you make it & people that want to find fault always will. We had some issues but nothing major that would ruin a holiday, so I'll just give an honest review with any pointers that I can...
I would agree with a lot of other reviews that this hotel is more a 3 star than a 4 star, but I would probably give it a 3 star+. For what we paid for our stay I think that is fair. We had someone with mobility issues in our party so we emailed ahead & asked for a room that was ground floor & close to amenities. We were told this would be dependant on availability but to the hotel & staffs credit we got the best room we could ever have hoped for. We got a ground floor right in front of main pool which was close to everything, had its own balcony & sun loungers - as all ground floor rooms did as far as I know.
Food - The food does let it down slightly, it is samey like everyone says but there was never a time we couldn't find something - & I have a fussy lot to deal with. Even got our youngest to try a lot of new things that she really enjoyed. When it was theme nights - chinese, mexican etc, the food was amazing!
The snack bar does hot dogs, burgers & pizza which my lot always loved. The pizza they did at restaurant & snack bar was of same quality & was absolutely amazing. The desserts & ice cream were amazing, kids loved them!
The pools, splash zone & kids pools are amazing, can't comment too much on kids entertainment as our kids are 11 & 16 now but the entertainment seems to be non stop, the staff do an amazing job but I would say this hotel is very much geared towards a lot to younger kids.
The night time entertainment was not the greatest but we could watch from our balcony & we went over when we found something that was OK. The other point is we did see cockroaches at this hotel at night, one flying on my daughter at one point, but it is to be expected in this climate I suppose.
Only other gripe I have was we asked for late check out as our flight wasn't until late at night, there wasn't one available, we were told we could possibly get a courtesy room for half hour but had to ask next day but when we did this was not available so we had to sit about reception for the full day.
In summary, I would say this is a very good hotel where the hotel staff work tirelessly & make it the place it is, yes there are parts that can be improved but we didn't find anything that ruined our holiday & we definitely got value for money.
