Watch your French!!!
Do not book this hotel if you are a British customer who wants a typical Spanish All Inclusive holiday experience. Don't get me wrong, the hotel itself is fine, but it is geared toward French clientelle, specifically 'Club Lookea' guests and operates a two tier approach to entertainment with Club Lookea guests being invited to exclusive events and activities which are not advertised on the activities board but are offered verbally in French announcements. For these events there is no translation offered. The day time activities are fine and whilst there is still a heavily French focus, translations are offered for activities such as aqua gym, pool games etc. The problem arises toward the end of the day when there are extensive announcements over a loud speaker in French only where you could make out words such as 'dancing', 'disco', 'competition' and we became aware that every night activities were going on in the rooftop bar area solely for Club Lookea customers. The Club Lookea guests get a separate red wrist band, everyone else has a yellow band, so the entertainment staff know who to go and engage with. If that is not a two tier system I don't know what is. You are literally segregated on arrival at the hotel. Don't get me wrong, the animation team were lovely, they would smile and exchange very basic greetings in English and frankly their English is much better than my French will ever be, but they were there to entertain Club Lookea guests in the main. So every night other than the mini disco, which was more international, there was separate entertainment for the French Club Lookea guests which meant no one else could use the rooftop area or have any entertainment other than mini-disco or the late cabaret. No obligatory UK guest All Inclusive nightly bingo, no quizzes, no 'Sweet Caroline' Karaoke (ok I know that would be hell as well, but you go with that expectation and the odd game of bingo and drunken karaoke is a bit of a laugh now and then!). There seemed to be some karaoke on the first night we arrived on the rooftop for the Club Lookea guests, but not for the likes of us English (or Dutch, or Scottish or anyone but the French Club Lookea customer). What is even more annoying is that I had booked through Tui and Club Lookea is a Tui company, so the same company is giving one group of guests a premium service. There was nothing in the Tui hotel blurb about this, if there had been I would have booked elsewhere. I've got nothing against the French, the hotel or the animation team, I hold Tui fully responsible for not making things clear. All the UK guests I spoke to felt exactly the same and when you look through other Trip Advisor reviews you will see this is an ongoing issue. I was fooled by the high ratings this hotel has been given but on closer insepction those ratings come from a mainly French contingent - they love it! It's perfect for them! We had to go outside to look for a more inclusive approach to holiday entertainment which cost me a fortune which I do not expect to have to pay when I have booked All Inclusive. The Brits in this hotel were completely bored on a night time (plus the bar service is very slow which doesn't help). I've booked with Tui for years, I will be much more careful about that in future.

A thoughtful gesture from the staff
During our stay, it was my husband’s birthday. I really wanted to make his day a little special, so towards the end of the afternoon I went to reception to ask if there was anything they might still be able to arrange.
I understood that normally it is best to give at least 24 hours’ notice if you would like the hotel to arrange something such as a birthday cake, so I knew my request was very last-minute. Despite this, Alejandro immediately took the time to see what he could do for me. After a short wait in the lobby, he came back with the wonderful news that he had managed to arrange a cake after all. He also asked what time we would like to have dinner so they could reserve a table for us.
What I didn’t know at the time was that they had arranged another little surprise. While I went to the nearby supermarket, members of staff came to our accommodation with a birthday card and a few treats for my husband. It was such an unexpected and thoughtful gesture, and he was genuinely surprised.
That evening, when we arrived at the restaurant with our family, our table had been beautifully set and decorated for his birthday. They had even thought of drinks for everyone, with a bottle of sparkling wine for the adults and a jug of juice for the children. Later, the staff brought out the birthday cake and joined us in singing.
I paid €25 for the cake, which I thought was absolutely reasonable, but when I ordered it I had no idea how much extra thought, effort and attention they would put into making the whole evening feel special. It was all those little personal touches that made such a difference.
My husband had a wonderful birthday and we truly appreciated everything that was done to make his birthday special. A big thank you to Alejandro and his colleagues for all the effort and thoughtful touches, especially considering how last-minute my request was. Muchas gracias!

Amazing holiday
We had an amazing holiday at Maspalomas Resort in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The hotel is wonderful, but the best part was the entertainment team. The Lookea and BeCreative entertainers were simply fantastic: super attentive, dynamic, and always with a smile and incredible energy. They made our trip truly unique. We recommend this hotel 100% and we'll definitely be back!
