- Santa Catalina a Royal Hideaway Hotel

The Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, represents Las Palmas de Gran Canaria's living history. This emblematic building, dating back to the late 19th century, sits beside the lush Doramas Park, the city's green heart. Just a short stroll from Playa de las Alcaravaneras, it offers convenient access to key attractions. The hotel meticulously upholds local tradition and integrates tourism with civic heritage and environmental respect. This blend creates an authentic, distinctive atmosphere. The 202 elegant rooms offer magnificent garden or sea views. Rest assured, the hotel's comprehensive hygiene program prioritizes guest and staff well-being.
I like the service and the staff a lot. Friendly and quick. Nice ambiance and beautiful place with nice view I will be back.
On the night of July 31st, the hotel hosted a massive party with deafening, professional-grade club music that blasted until 2:00 AM. Sleep was completely impossible, the walls were literally vibrating. The night reception utterly failed to resolve the situation, laughed it off, and didn't even apologize. The situation was so severe that we had to call the emergency services (112) and the local police 7 times, but nobody showed up. At check-out, the management tried to brush us off with a ridiculous 50 EUR discount on extra services. This is a joke and a total insult for a premium luxury brand. I was forced to file an official government complaint (Hoja de Reclamaciones) signed and stamped by the hotel (see attached photo). This case has already been officially escalated to the Defensor del Pueblo in Madrid (Case №26086852) for police inaction, and a formal complaint is heading to the Consumer Protection Office (OMIC).
If you want to sleep and be treated with respect for your money, avoid this place. Disgraceful management for Barceló Group.
Great hotel, ticks all the boxes. Fantastic friendly personell. Great service, food and drink quality. Clean everywhere. Some improvement needed in the aircon coling in our room. Also it is way to early to close the adult pool in the rooftop at 17:00. The rooftop is fantastic, and it would be great to spend some more of the time in the afternoon in that location. All in all - we will come back many times, a great place to spoil yourself and hideaway for some days.
booked a twin room five weeks in advance to take my 92-year-old mother back to this hotel as a birthday surprise. Because I am her carer, sharing a room with separate beds is a strict necessity. Despite booking through the parent company and contacting the hotel directly to confirm, I was told two beds could only be "subject to availability" on arrival. Expecting an elderly guest to turn up and hope for the best is unacceptable customer service. It is a shame to leave a one-star review before even staying at what looks like a beautiful property, but their unhelpful approach to customer service completely ruined our special trip. My mother will now not be returning.
You simply must stay here. We enjoyed a week in this classy grande dame of a hotel wandering the marble halls, sipping cava as we chatted to the lovely reception ladies, listening to piano music from the lobby as we relaxed on our balcony, resting on comfy sunbeds by the ground floor and rooftop pools and marvelling at the world's best breakfast buffet as friendly staff delivered fresh juice and silver coffee pots It really felt like Belmond levels of luxury for half the price Some grumble about the location but Las Palmas is a big city so you cannot be close to Las Caneras and the old town at once. We loved being by the marina for boat spotting and nice restaurants and enjoyed the hotel having its own tourist bus stop outside. City buses and taxis were plentiful and cheap and we even ventured on a Global bus on the main highway as they link to other cities. Getting around us easy here. Taxi was 40 euros from the airport but Global bus stop nearby at Juan XXIII Street doing an airport run for under 3 euros each. Amazing. Avis offer a couple of cars dropped at the hotel but as we wanted an automatic with more choice we picked one up for a couple of days from Cicar and ventured south to Maspalomas and Mogan on their easy main highway. We parked under the hotel and could charge the room for 20 euros parking per night. My only small confusion was in room drinks. We had water the first night but never again. The mini bar was cheap so we drank water and Cokes but these were never restocked. I couldn't work out why as tap water is desalinated so not recommended for the uninitiated But yes, overall so impressed. Wish I was sitting there now watching the baby turtles in the pond at breakfast with my pot of strong coffee and a churro! Thank you Santa Catalina
