We had a great holiday, things to praise was the room and view, food in restaurant, availability of cocktails much better than other AI I have been too, transfer short from the airport, lots to do all day and evening, used both hotels Things to improve on, air con in communal areas not adequate, more parasols, didn’t always have towels in room, vegi option in room if flight late and restaurant closed and lift not always working we were on the 8th floor
This was my complaint letter to TUI
Dear Sirs, Re: Formal Holiday Complaint Please do not close this complaint case, as I wish to pursue my complaint in full. I did not continue to escalate the matter whilst we were abroad because the situation had already caused us considerable distress. Furthermore, the only solutions offered by your call centre were either to fund our own return flights home or to pay additional costs to upgrade to an alternative hotel. Neither of these options was reasonable given that the issues we experienced were not of our making. Whilst you correctly note that we were moved to a different room within the hotel, and that this room was quieter, this addressed only one of several significant issues that adversely affected our holiday experience. Most importantly, we booked this hotel based on the description, marketing material, and photographs presented on your website. The imagery and promotional content portrayed an atmosphere of tranquillity, relaxation, and sophistication throughout the hotel, including the reception areas, dining facilities, pool areas, and communal spaces. Your website specifically promotes TUI BLUE hotels as: "Hotels designed for you, that combine relaxation, culture and best-in-class service." Regrettably, this description bore little resemblance to the experience we encountered. There was a complete absence of the peaceful and relaxing environment advertised. Instead, the hotel was characterised by excessive noise, overcrowding, loud entertainment, and disruptive behaviour in both the pool and dining areas. The atmosphere was chaotic rather than tranquil, and there was certainly no evidence of the cultural or premium experience promised in your marketing materials. The photographs and videos I have provided demonstrate a substantial difference between the holiday sold to us and the reality we experienced:

It is not relevant that we travelled during the peak holiday season. Had your website made clear that guests should expect a crowded, noisy, and highly commercialised resort atmosphere, I simply would not have booked this hotel. The issue is therefore not that the hotel was busy, but that the experience delivered was materially different from the experience advertised. The dining experience was particularly disappointing. Guests were frequently required to queue for extended periods for food, and on several occasions queue-jumping led to arguments and confrontations between guests. Finding a table was often difficult, and we regularly had plates removed by staff whilst we were still eating. This fell well below the standard of service that any reasonable customer would expect from a hotel marketed as offering "best-in-class service". Taken together, these issues significantly detracted from our enjoyment of the holiday and resulted in an experience that was wholly inconsistent with the expectations created by your advertising and promotional materials. In light of the extent of the issues experienced, and what I believe to be a clear case of the holiday being misrepresented at the point of sale, I am seeking appropriate compensation. I would be grateful if you could review the evidence provided and respond with your proposals for resolving this matter. I look forward to receiving your response.
This is their response
Dear Max,
Thank you for getting in touch with us, and I'm sorry that you've needed to contact TUI regarding your recent stay.
I can completely understand how disruptive it must have been to experience noise from the entertainment during your time at TUI BLUE Orquidea. I appreciate this wouldn't have been the relaxing atmosphere you were hoping for on your holiday, and I'm genuinely sorry that this affected your experience.
Following our investigation, we've reviewed the information provided on our website for TUI BLUE Orquidea, which does advertise the hotel as a family and child-friendly property with a variety of entertainment events scheduled throughout the day and week. Our destination team has also looked into your concerns, and unfortunately, we're unable to offer compensation on this occasion.
I do apologise again, Max, and I want to assure you that your feedback is incredibly valuable to us. We take all comments seriously, and I'll be passing your experience on to the relevant teams for their consideration.
Wishing you all the best,
I then responded with this
Dear Sirs, Thank you for your response and for acknowledging and apologising for the significant disruption and noise we experienced during our stay. We appreciate your recognition that these issues contributed to a lack of relaxation and enjoyment, which was contrary to the hotel's presentation as a peaceful and serene environment. However, the extent of the noise and disruption was not disclosed within the hotel's description, reviews, or promotional photographs on your website. Had this information been made available, I would not have chosen this property. As such, I believe I was misled regarding the nature of the accommodation and the holiday experience being offered. Furthermore, it is important to consider that we were relocated to this hotel after our original hotel choice was unavailable due to renovation works. Taking this into account, our experience of travelling with TUI for the first time has been extremely disappointing, and the overall handling of our holiday has fallen well below our reasonable expectations. In light of the above, I am not satisfied that the matter has been adequately resolved and would therefore like my complaint to be escalated to the next stage of your complaints process. I look forward to your response.
THEY THEN CLOSED THE TICKET WITH - 'SORRY'
Overall we had a good time here. Two adults, two children (7 & 10). Plenty going on through the day to keep the kids entertained, food is good, but it gets repetitive, as it usually does with all-inclusive. Ice cream machines and slush machines will be missed!
Hotel - Room was generally clean, we stayed in the Orquidea, after being upgraded from Tres Vidas, free of charge, after reading reviews about cockroaches. We did see a couple but it’s really nothing to worry about. The beach is a stone throw away, it’s a rocky pebble beach but still beautiful.
Staff are really friendly and helpful and the overall atmosphere of the hotel is good.
Entertainment - some nights it’s really good, most nights it’s the same entertainers putting on different shows. The kids loved it, it’s just a little boring for us parents. Again, nothing to speak bad about but variety could do with improving.
We booked on the Palmitos wild life park. What a brilliant day out that was. Definitely recommend this! Coach drop off and pick up times could do with extending slightly but we seen everything, an extra hour wouldn’t be such a bad thing though.
We had one night where I had to knock on the room above as they were being really loud, but this was one night and nothing to do with the staff/hotel, just one inconsiderate family.
We visited Playa del Inglés beach a couple times too. I’d recommend going here for a beach day, plenty of sun lounges, shops and restaurants.
Overall, it was a good holiday! Would I go back? Probably not, but if I had too, I would look forward to it because the kids loved it and we enjoyed it.
We stayed at the Las pitas apartments big problem where the room was situated, we were right at the top which made my access to the room very difficult as I had a hip replacement done in November. We went straight down to reception to see if we could change rooms, the staff were lovely and did acomedate us with the lower level apartment at a cost of £120 which I was not happy about but if I did not pay i would of been in the room all day. The both rooms were exactly the same. There was one bedroom and there was a large corner settee in the kitchen which in my opinion were not beds as the pool beds were more comfy we did not sleep much at all. When we arrived the instructions on finding your room was not well explained you was given one bottle of water and you were not told that you had to keep that bottle to refill it which our empty one was taken by the maid, so we had to buy more. Having said all that the transfer was quick, the food was amazing plenty of choice, grounds were spotless and so was the toilets which was cleaned constantly. The drinks were ok my husband drunk the local vodka which he said was fine, I did not like the vodka and found the cocktails sweet. On the last but one day we found out that the premium drinks were in the package after 5.
Spent 2 weeks at this hotel with our boys, 3 and 5.
The rooms are suitable for families, clean and tidy, the reception is always available and helpful, so any issues you just have to ask.
Cleaning is more bedmaking than changing but if you want your sheets and towels changed daily just chuck them on the floor in a pile.
The pools are good, the pool staff usually don't bother people and are friendly enough when they need to blow the whistle. Annoying you cant take food outside, and, you cant take drinks near the pool which is just silly.
The bars are decent, cocktails are better in the evenings but generally better than other all inclusives. Drinks variety is good and bars are open 10am to 12pm. As a parent with kids it would be great to be able to get drinks in bulk (can only order 4 at once) or have a room service to take drinks to parents watching kids as it is a pain to have to keep going down to the bar.
The lifts are a bit annoying, 3 total, 1 was broken so often took a while to get up and down, could do with installing some more lifts on the outside of the building to increase the capacity.
Music went on until 11am which was very loud, I love music as much as the next person but for a hotel full of families with small kids it would be better to generally lower the volume and finish earlier.
The food was good, nice variety and most importantly none of us were in anyway ill over the 2 weeks so the health and safety must have been to standard.
Our kids loved the constant ice cream and we made millshakes in cups with hotmilk, sauce, and icecream which they loved, there were also alot of good cakes and other treats.
The hotels location is great really close to the airport but without any aircraft noise, very close to sioux city which was great. We also went to Palomas park which wad great.
The entertainment at the hotel is good, the staff are running something throughout the day and are really friendly with the kids. Our boys fell in love with TUI robot and Bamse making it almost like a Disney trip. They got teddies of these charachters by attending evening clubs and they were so happy. It really made it magical for the kids.
For families with small or young children this hotel is excellent. Many people we spoke to had been back multiple times.
