This apartment complex is situated amongst green gardens by the beach. Restaurants offering buffet and à la carte meals, as well as bars and pubs can be found in the immediate vicinity, whilst the town of San Fernando is 8 km away.
The family-friendly hotel has a total of 255 rooms and is fully air-conditioned. There is a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, as well as hotel safe, currency exchange facilities, cloakroom and lift access. Other facilities include on-site café, bar, pub and restaurant, as well as hairdressing salon, auditorium, games room, conference facilities and wireless Internet access. Room and laundry services are provided, whilst guests arriving by car can leave their vehicles in the hotel's own private car park. The hotel also operates a bike hire service and there is a children's playground for the younger guests.
The hotel features comfortable rooms with unbeatable sea views from their huge balconies. Rooms are en suite with bathtub and hairdryer and include direct dial telephone, satellite TV with international channels, mini-fridge/minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and a room safe. Ceiling fans have been fitted in the rooms and they are also air-conditioned.
The resort includes outdoor swimming pools with an area for children. Guests can relax on the sun loungers and shade themselves with the parasols which are laid out on the sun terrace by the pool. Refreshments are available just a few steps away at the poolside snack bar. There is an on-site gym and a sauna, steam room and hot tub. Massage and spa treatments are also available. Further activities available at the resort include tennis, table tennis, bocce, 18-hole mini-golf, golf (on the driving range) and trampolining. Entertainment programmes are provided for children and adults, whilst water sports such as diving, wind surfing and canoeing are available on the nearby beach, as is beach volleyball.
Pamper yourself with a visit to the spa, which offers massages and facials. You're sure to appreciate the recreational amenities, which include 4 outdoor swimming pools, a water slide and a sauna. This hotel also features complimentary wireless Internet access, an arcade/games room and a banquet hall.
The pool area is over crowded. They allow 3 other Grupotel guests to use the Orquídea facilities which means there are far too many people at the pool. The sun beds are packed so close together that you are touching shoulders with a stranger next to you.
How is it fair that someone stays in a different hotel but can come and use another hotels facilities when their own hotels facilities are mediocre. We overheard guests that were staying in the neighbouring hotel stating their pool was really small so they came to use ours. The hotel was never designed to have that many people around the pool. Had I known this prior to booking I would have chosen somewhere else.
The splash park, baby pool and kids pool were great. It's the reason we stayed there, so our little one could enjoy the water.
Over the weekend they must've had a special deal on for Spanish people because they arrived in masses. They were mostly adults who gathered in the smoking area. The smoking area is located right underneath the balconies so expect an unpleasant cigarette smell while enjoying the views from your balcony. They talked and partied until after midnight which kept us awake. I did mention it to the receptionist and they told me that they had similar complaints in the past, I'm assuming they did nothing about those complaints because it is still happening.
Some hotel staff did favours to the Spanish guests by reserving sun loungers by the pool. I don't think they realised that I speak Spanish so could understand everything. It was disappointing to see that happen.
The food was mediocre. Poor quality food and ingredients. Pasta cooked until it is squidgey. We were tired of the same stuff each night so ate out multiple nights across the road at the shopping centre.
There's 1 buffet restaurant to eat in, a snack bar by the pool, a restaurant that you must make a reservation for and another restaurant that you had to pay for. We didn't pay to eat in that one because we assumed they'd use the same poor quality ingredients.
The entertainment team were hard working and lots of energy. We weren't awake for the shows due to having a very young child but the kids disco was always fun. They often stood around in small groups which can be intimidating sometimes. I feel guests are more likely to engage with them if they are standing alone rather than chatting to each other.
The lifts are tiny. There are 3 of them. At best you can fit a pram, 2 adults and a child. One day two of those lifts were broken and the queue to get to our room and back was very long. We had the pram which was too heavy to carry up 3 floors. We did however carry it down a few times as the 1 lift was full every time it got to our floor.
The hotel is very dated and the pictures online do not reflect the hotel as it is today.
This is my honest opinion. Overall I enjoyed a family holiday. I would not stay in the hotel again.
If I had paid £1000 total for my trip then I wouldn't be so disappointed however we paid almost 3 times that so expected much more.
We had a wonderful 10 day family holiday. The hotel was fantastic, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The entertainment/activities were very good and there was something for everyone.there was a wide variety of food and drink to choose from. We would highly recommend this hotel.
We stayed here 10th September for 11 nights the pictures on TUI site look nice which is why I booked it but didn’t expect so many kids as it was in school time. There is always a morning rush for sunbeds when let through starting ropes at 8am not because of lack of sunbeds as there are hundreds but only about a dozen with fixed umbrellas which are covered in mold. Don’t stay on 11th top floor as balconies are enclosed and do not get sun we complained and were moved to 7th floor which was better but had a very noisier ac fan. Be careful as there are steps down to seating area which do not have any markings so are not apparent to anyone with poor eyesight The showers need to be refurbished as there is moldy silicone sealing in them. Food is generally ok but I did have one episode where I was sick overnight wether It was cross contamination of food I’m not sure because I think it may have been the vegetable soup with shell fish as I am allergic to them. Allergy sufferers beware as the labelling for this is poor. The highlight was the birthday night where we had a meal at the on site Sultan restaurant which was excellent and worth the money. As we were all inclusive we got 25% off bill and had great steak and salmon with drinks for £54 which was reasonable. Seating for adult area is not enough as tables are mostly set as 4’s with lots of couples wanting 2’s so causing people waiting due to wasting of 4 tables with only 2 people on. One day most of the tables were reserved as the national male volleyball team came in causing a lot of disruption to hotel guests. This is very out of the way with very few shops only selling souvenirs around with no beach so you will have to get bus or taxi if you want more. On our stay 2 out of the 3 lifts were out of order varying between them over several days. There is an adult swimming area with nice brolllies etc with is fenced off, which you have to pay extra of €6 per person for only 2 hrs so works out expensive if you want peace and quiet. Drinks are not branded so bit watery Cocktails should be avoided as they are syrups and do don’t taste anything like you would normally expect. The evening entertainment is ok and the staff try hard to make it enjoyable The outside entertainers employed who come in are of a low standard and nothing like the quality of those in Benidorm. All in all I think this should be a 3 star hotel as it is more like butlins used to be If you have a family with little kids and are not too fussy I’m sure you will enjoy it here.
After reading the reviews, my husband and I were extremely worried as to what to expect. What can I say - we found the hotel welcoming, helpful and spotlessly clean. Our room was a fabulous size overlooking the sea on the 7th floor, number 717. It was very quiet. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the lighting in the room was lovely too. The safe was free and easy to use. There was a fridge in the room which was great for the large bottle of water we were given. I just left a message every day for water and it was left by the cleaners who did an amazing job. We also asked for fresh milk from the bar staff , which we kept in there for our hot drinks - there was plenty of tea and coffee but you can always get more from the dining room if needed. The food was always hot with a great selection to suit everyone. Not sure what people in other reviews were complaining about - it makes you wonder what food they eat at home? The choice was vast at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plus there is the snack bar by the pools and bar if you wanted, served from 11.00 - 17.00. In my opinion I don’t recommend the hotel for couples as such, even though we did enjoy it. However for babies, toddlers and young children it’s fabulous. Everything is geared up to cater for young families. From the baby lounge to the toddler pool and the children’s clubs. They even have a small buffet area especially for the children to help themselves. There is also the Adult only area in the restaurant. Also we recommend the Taverna included for 1 booking if you are on a one week all inclusive holiday. It’s lovely. There is plenty of entertainment going on day and night to suit all ages. The drinks are all local but good and the soft drink on tap to help yourself are all branded Coke, Fanta, sprite etc. all served by lovely friendly staff. The only one problem is that the drinks in the main bar that opens at 17.00 are served in plastic cups until 18.00. Really though this isn’t a big problem. The little walk way along the coast line is pretty but very rocky. Only strong swimmers can enter the sea. There is a lovely quiet grass area overlooking the sea to lie on a sunbed if you wanted to escape the business of around the pools. The hotel has a spa and adult only pool that you have to pay for. It was more or less empty as it was quite expensive. This was advertised as inclusive but was misleading. The area outside the hotel is really lovely with a restaurants and shops. Lovely to walk around. A really lovely coffee shop and there is a pharmacy right across the road from the hotel. The hotel is very close to 2 well stocked supermarkets and the 2 small shops within the hotel are really good. I have to say I am very impressed with Tui. From the booking, to the flights and the care it has been fabulous. Tui Blue has been exceptional. One thing that did impress us was that we arrived at the hotel at 21.00 and they had opened the restaurant for us. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. It’s great value for money and the staff were wonderful - they could not do enough for us. Tui reps are there daily if you need them. I would not hesitate to book and stay again.
Location is great for not having to travel to long from the airport. Excellent views from our hotel window. The staff were very helpful because my husband is disabled. The cleaniness was outstanding as there was always someone cleaning. The room was excellent and very comfortable. The atmosphere was a bit overwhelming because there was a lot of families with young children. Excellent price and well worth it if you have got a young family but I found it a bit too busy for my liking, But I did enjoy myself.
