Just on our last day a Rui vistamar . I feel this hotel is getting a raw deal . The food is good and facilities are fine . It’s not a 5 star luxury but if you want that then you need to pay the price! Our rooms were cleaned every day the hotel is spotless . Staff consisted on keep everywhere clean . I haven’t heard anything about sickness and sorry for the people who have been ill that would ruin the holiday I’d admit. But considering how large the hotel is it’s not rife through the hotel so don’t panic if you’re booked here . My partner and myself made sure we used the handgel which is everywhere. There are steps to the pool but not loads like some people have said . Not ideal I suppose if you have a buggy or struggle with steps . There is also a lift to the pool on the first floor . Overall nice hotel for the price
I think half the recent reviews on here are talking rubbish, I’m here now and no sickness bug what so ever, no dirty cutlery and the food is 100% warm. I’m having more than my fill of food and beer 😎 I was here 3 years ago and it’s much the same, yes it was refurbed years ago and it’s slowly showing signs of that but it’s still better than a lot of places I’ve been that look like they are stuck in the early 00,s
For what we paid and what a lot of the moaners on here paid for all inclusive it’s lovely value. Amazing views lots of daily activities, lovely helpful staff, amazing outside rooftop restaurant, fresh squeezed juice and coffee in the mornings.
Don’t be put off, like any holiday to a foreign country just take reasonable precautions. Purto rico has a lovely new shopping centre and restaurant / bars and is a nice walk down. Amadores is the other side as well.
Don’t want the trip to be over and will book another riu no hesitation.
This hotel has excellent views spacious sun terrace and a fantastic entertainment team however there’s a real problem with sickness that’s been going on for a few years.the hotel doesn’t acknowledge this and has done nothing in the past few years to prevent this for example hand free taps in communal we tried to change holiday before and told no sickness at hotel spent 2 days in room with virus must have spoke to 20+ guests that had the sickness……..come on….sort it out don’t have your head in sand will not be coming back after 8 consecutive years and that’s a shame as it has the potential to be fantastic again
We had a great 9 nights at Riu Vistamar! The rooms are lovely very similar design to Riu Chiclana where we stayed before. Hotel smells very clean and there is lots of hand sanitiser everywhere.
On the first night we had a bit of a problem, we were in Room 184 which is a great room but unfortunately the view is a little spoilt by the netting which needs to be there for safety reasons so I’d ask for a higher room definitely if you prefer having a great view. We asked to change rooms but they didn’t have any available which I completely understand and said if we came back in a few days they will be able to suit us. We didn’t mind and appreciated they were willing to accommodate that!
Must add this is not a common problem in the hotel - we were just unlucky with the guests above us! In the night unfortunately we had a leak come through the bathroom ceiling which is not the hotels fault but the people who stayed above us! We did have to wait a lot in the night where they said maintenance would be with us but they never came until the morning so would’ve appreciated it if the guy on reception honest at the time as we stayed up all night waiting.
Reception staff in the morning were very helpful and apologetic. Arranged for us to go in a new room and even asked for our preference with what side we wanted to be on and how high up we wanted to be which we really appreciated! Michael helped us and he was fantastic and understanding. I can’t remember name of the other lady who helped us but she had short dark hair and was going on holiday to Fuerteventura that week - she was great too and they put us in Room 480 which is fantastic and has a great view! Even sent up a free bottle of Cava for our trouble which was greatly appreciated!
Great pool area and food is good too. We didn’t try the à la carte but looked great. The sea breeze snack bar is brilliant too and even opens for a late breakfast - didn’t find that out until the last day so that’s a top tip!
Manager was very kind. The Riu Party was fantastic and the free shuttle bus - definitely would’ve paid for that so was fantastic to still be all inclusive and as always the party was really good.
Definitely recommend the hotel. We had no illness as other reviews say and were extra careful with sanitising and hand-washing, definitely not the hotels fault. Wouldn’t be put off by these reviews as they definitely made me worry to come but glad we did! Hotel does everything they can and is extremely clean - in a big all inclusive I think these things happen especially when there is lifts which can get quite busy during peak times, I imagine that is when spread may happen.

Arrived Sat 5th Sep. We were here last year for the same 2 weeks and had a great time.. However on the 2nd day we were made aware by other guests of a sickness bug. By day 5 my husband was confined to the room for 36 hours with the bug. 3 other couples that we met last year joined us , they ALL also got the bug and each lost a day of holiday. I reported to the Tui rep - who admitted there was a sickness bug in the hotel. Spoke with lots of other people who were also unwell. I did report to reception but they could not care less - half way through my conversation they pretended that they could not understand english. People need to start being honest ref this hotel , as until they do nothing will be done. Clearly there is a issue with this bug. We will never return to this hotel.
