This family hotel has a privileged location facing a beautiful 25 km beach. Nightlife, shops and bars can be found in the vicinity, and the charming fishing village of Morro del Jable is just 3.5 km away. The hotel is built around 3 outdoor swimming pools bathed in year-round sunshine. The hotel has a full spa where guests can let themselves flow in a wave of relaxation. This is an ideal place for a fun-filled family holiday under the sun.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We had a wonderful stay at Iberostar Waves Gaviotas Park and overall we were extremely happy with our holiday.
The hotel is beautiful, very well maintained and especially suitable for families with children. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff throughout the hotel were always kind and helpful, and we really enjoyed the facilities, the pools and the overall experience. Travelling with our 10-month-old daughter, we found the hotel to be a great choice for a family holiday.
A special mention has to go to the entertainment team, who really added something extra to our stay. A big thank you especially to Mike and David, always friendly, enthusiastic and full of energy. I had a wonderful yoga class with David, which I really enjoyed, while Mike definitely made me work hard during his aqua bike classes 😅 — challenging and tiring in the best possible way! I also joined several other activities and always had a great time. The whole team knows how to involve guests without ever being pushy, which we really appreciated.
The only disappointing part of our stay was the late check-out. We asked about it in advance, but unfortunately it was not possible. We completely understand that availability cannot always be guaranteed, but travelling with a 10-month-old baby and having an evening flight at 8 pm, having to leave the room so early made our last day quite difficult. For a hotel that is otherwise so well suited to families, it would be wonderful if more flexibility or a dedicated solution could be offered to families with very young children in this situation.
Apart from this, we had a fantastic experience and would like to thank the entire team for making our holiday so enjoyable. We leave with many lovely memories and would happily come back!
Our first visit to the island of Fueventura and what a fantastic hotel to stay at. We were 2 families with 4 girls aged 11 and 13.
Great first impression - large hotel, extremely clean, lots of seating, friendly reception, massive whale hanging from the ceilings and slides for the kids to go down.
When we arrived around 8pm we were kindly advised that the we could leave our luggage and go straight down to the restaurant for food. Perfect after a travel day.
Check in was quick and luggage taken to our rooms. We all had wristbands to access room. We booked as 2 families but unfortunately didn’t have rooms next to each other but did have on same level. We had the priority family rooms with sea view. Great rooms with super views of the complex pool areas and the beach. These rooms were on top floor so very little noise. Some noise in corridor early mornings from children running. Very spacious - separate twin room with plenty of storage and access to balcony. Lounge area had a sofa and 2 single beds for children. Again lots of storage and access to balcony. Also had a microwave/fridge/sink area. Refill water stations outside room for fresh cold water and jugs/glasses in room. Each room had a safe (€5 deposit). Including in our room (we didn’t know about this til day 2 when tried the machine) were beach towels which you could get from the machine by the pool area. These could be changed.
Great selection of food/drinks available. No one goes hungry as always food available either from restaurant or the snack bar. In the main restaurant, every evening was a different cuisine which is great to try new things. Cooking area for meats and fish. Some impressive rib eye beef and salt encrusted salmon. Usual selection of veg/salads and plenty of desserts.Freshly prepared omelettes for breakfast were a big hit but could get busy.Separate younger children’s areas with simpler food and foot stools to access themselves. The snack bar also offered a continental breakfast from 10:30 and snacks in the afternoon (sandwiches/pizza/chips/cakes)
Drinks available throughout the day from various points. Branded alcohol, soft drinks and cocktails. Drinks trunk in pool area so all able to access.
Plenty of pools to enjoy. There is a large main pool which was never really busy, deep pool, children’s pool with jumping pillow and slide pool. All lovely temperature. Not having super busy pools were a highlight as could enjoy without fear of being hit by ball and actually swim. The pools do not open til 10am and close at 7pm.
Plenty of sunbeds available and was never an issue getting 8 together. We would go down around 8:30/9am and lots available. No early morning alarm setting to rush to get them.
Entertainment throughout the day for children and adults. David was amazing and enjoyed the aqua bike and aqua gym sessions. Our children didn’t really engage with children’s entertainment but lots available. The hotel app was great as you could see what activities were on but also sign in hotel showing. Also enjoyed fan decorating, soap making, cocktail making, mosaic tiles, bingo. Some for older children (over 13) but did with adult.
Evening entertainment in different areas but not as good as other hotels we’ve been too. Magic show, casino night, acrobats.
Beach is just a short stroll (5mins) and is stunning. Avoid at high tide as waves were crazy. Lifeguarded which is great. We also walked 30mins to nearby town Morro Jable where shops were enjoyed. Taxi back €6. Transfer is about an hour from the airport. There is also a spa on site but didn’t enjoy. Looked lovely though.
We loved our stay here. Thank you for the memories.
This was our 2nd stay at an Iberostar hotel and it certainly disappoint. I can’t stress how great this place is, but it is very much aimed for families. The staff are all great, very polite, helpful and nothing was ever too much. The hotel was spotless so there are absolutely no issues with cleanliness. I travelled with my wife and 2 girls (aged 3 and 2), we all had a fantastic time.
Rooms - we had a family suite which was amazing, plenty of living space for the girls to play, big separate bedroom and a big bathroom, the bathroom had a lowered toddler sink and a stool for the toilet which our 3 year loved and was a great touch.
Food / restaurants - the main buffet was great, fantastic quality and well cooked food for all meals with variety each day. There was also a ‘kids corner’ with raised platforms and stools so the girls could help them selves which they really enjoyed. The pool bar served a good lunch - not back food chips / pizza / nuggets / salads / sandwiches etc and plenty of fruit which was ideal for a quick bite at lunch. There were also pastries available in the afternoon which were tasty. There was a freezer and ice lollies for the children which our girls took full advantage of.
Drinks - again very good, spirits were all premium brands and san Miguel on tap. At the pool bar there was self serve soft drinks / coffee / beer / spirits and wine which was ideal as there was never any queuing. There was also a second self serve area/truck in the pool area that just did soft drinks and beer.
The pool areas were great with good variety. They were clean and well staffed with life guards.
My only 2 suggestions would be:
The park which is a short walk away is a little tired and the floor is really uneven and a bit of trip hazard - this could do with a bit of love.
All in all this was a fantastic holiday, we absolutely loved and certainly didn’t want to come home. So would I come back to this hotel for a second visit - ABSOLUTELY !!
Just back from an amazing stay at Iberostar Waves Playa Gaviotas Park and we loved it. Our arrival was a bit bumpy, but from the next morning everything turned around.
The hospitality was brilliant, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Huge shoutout to the animation team led by Sergio — they made the whole holiday feel fun and relaxed. Special praise to Magdalena, who was absolutely fantastic with families. Mike, Petr and the rest of the team kept the energy high and the activities inclusive for all ages.
Great food variety, clean spaces, and a truly family‑friendly environment. We’d go back anytime.
