Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Location very nice, very understaffed place. Room cleaning is on the good level. You need tokens to take a drink and then return plastic cup to get token back ..... There was a bad smell in the pool area, spa and dining room. Room: mold in the bathroom, mosquitoes, flies, and there was even a cockroach.
In general it is very weak 4 stars, I wouldn't even say it's a 3 star.
I did not like the Alua Village at all. The hotel is at the top of a hill and to go to your room was like doing a mini marathon everyday. The beach is at least 20 mins walk away down a very steep hill. The food was terrible and the quality was poor. My biggest concern was the flies in the restaurant . This is very unhygienic and put me off alot of the food. There was not alot of choice and i found it difficult at every meal to fine something to eat. To be truthful if i could have come home on day one i would have . Entertainment was also lacking and my husband and i where in bed every night for 9pm as the eveningswhere boring .
The staff is friendly and helpful, but the rooms are dirty and barely cleaned. During our stay, our bedsheets got stained with blood from the insects we had to kill- my husband actually woke up to an ant invasion on our bed! To make matters worse, the sheets were never changed after that. :) we were provided with a spray AS A SOLUTION!!!! Ants invaded our luggage, got into our backpacks and suitcases, and even traveled home with us, causing a massive problem. Lunch and dinner had a good variety and tasted fine, but breakfast was terrible and mostly tasteless. The dinner timing was also poorly planned, as it was only open from 12:30 to 2:30 PM. The long lines for drinks at the Hemings at the bars were very annoying and could have easily been avoided with better organization- effort to reduce plastic waste was poorly executed. Overall, this hotel is definitely not worth the price. We feel like we overpaid, and there are much better options available for this money.
we enjoyed every second of our time at Alua Village. we really felt like the hotel paid close attention to detail such as olives and nuts as snacks at the Terrace Bar, a different ‘Welcome Cocktail’ every night at dinner, a Mr Whippy Ice Cream Machine every day at lunch - it was little touches that we appreciated. I have seen a couple negative reviews regarding the À La Carte Restaurant - we found the À La Carte to be amazing! the restaurant was done out really nicely, the menu was extensive 5 Options for each course, the staff were really friendly and most importantly the food was exquisite, so much so we actually paid to go back for a second visit! there was never any difficulty in getting a sunbed, no need to reserve unless you like a particular spot as always lots of beds free! lastly, the staff were lovely especially the Animation Team who worked tirelessly and Lilli & Rosie in the restaurant and Pool Bar. I definitely recommend this hotel.
We have just returned from a 11 night stay , the hotel is clean and modern staff are all lovely and work so hard , We had a beautiful sea view from our room about 20mins walk it is well worth a visit very pretty you can see the chipmunks on the way down. No problems with getting a sun lounger plenty avaialble even later morning with most getting plenty of sun Food is tasty plenty of variety only slighltly negavtive could do with better labelling as was hard to tell what was vegetarian.
Drinks wine you help yourself to including cava white and rose , we were MFC , so had branded drinks options and bottles of branded soft drinks , also got to keep our room until 3pm , we did one night in the a la carte which was nice. On my husbands birthday i ordered a cake and wine and they decorated the table . Evening entertainment some really good professional acts we saw a magician , cladyis night our favourite and african acrobats , on the other nights staff work hard to put on various shows , would be nice to see a few more professional acts. We would definetly return, we would have preferred a room with a seperate sleeping area for our son as he is now 12.
