Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
First time staying here, and loved it. First time Adults only as well as been at the Blue Sea village for the past few years. after the initial rush for sun beds at 9am, there always seemed to be sunbeds left if you didn't want to be right next to the pool. the Spa was fantastic part of our package with Jet2, used it every day. The food was just about right we were All Inclusive, if i had to pay as you go i would be disappointed. Staff are really friendly, especially the pool bar staff that then go into the main area at night time. it was my son's birthday and we came back to a lovely surprise bottle of fizz, card and chocs, he was well made up. the room was just the right size for three of us, and cleaned daily. we got a safe as we always do, wasn't bothered we had to pay as wanted to ensure we kept our things locked up, but speaking to another guest who had said her items had been stolen, i doesn't matter where you are you just can't risk it for 3 euro a day.
We have booked to come back next year for my son's 21st, it is an ideal location for the shops and the main strip. the beach is about a 10 min walk, and the market.
Alcoholic drinks were named brands even on AI, which was fantastic first time that has happened and made a difference. cocktails as well included.
didn't have an issue with reception staff like some people did, also my husband band stopped working after 7 days, but it was changed no bother.
Defo recommend this hotel.
late review due to bereavement when i got home. but felt i needed to put this on.
We’re on our last day at this hotel and contrary to many guests experience, my opinion is that it is mediocre at best. The food that many rate as excellent is below average in both quality and choice. At breakfast all the fried eggs are cooked well in advance so have a skin on them where they have dried and solidified. At every meal there is food that tastes as if it has been rinsed in bleach or some other cleaning fluid, such that it has ruined most of the meals. At dinner, the meat choices are of such poor quality that I wasted more than I ate and due to the limited choice I ended up having a cheese roll or cheese and crackers. It was unfortunate that we were all inclusive as the guests on b&b had a different experience. The best meal of the day was lunch that was cooked to order and waiter served until our last day when we were told we had to pay for it, despite not having had lunch on our arrival day due to flight times. Entertainment was more akin to a piano bar act with the exception of a couple of nights when we saw some good female singers. Around the pool was excellent with ample beds to go round and a nice temperature to the two pools. If you value relaxation over quality cuisine then give it a try, my only advice would be chose B&B if given the option as there are plenty of restaurants nearby.
Stayed for 9 night on AI basis, travelling with Jet2, only booking the day before travel due to the cancellation of our planned cruise down the Danube.
The location of the hotel is fabulous - we went for a walk 3-4 times a day and so many places to walk. We also rented a car from the car hire place at the top of the road which was great to see the island - go to Ajuy and see the caves - amazing!
The hotel, although a bit dated in some area, is lovely. There is a charge of €3 per day for the safe - we haven’t had to pay safe charges for a long time and travel abroad 4-5 times each year so this wasn’t ideal. However, having read a recent post about a theft, it makes perfect sense. Our room was spacious as was the bathroom with walk in shower and a good size balcony.
The pool area is large and there was never any issues getting sun beds at any time of day. We were given 6 towel cards to last the duration of our stay which was fine. We were disappointed that although there was no smoking round the pool but many guests were vaping. We also witnessed this in the courtyard when eating dinner. On occasion there was some music round the pool - it would have been nice to have a bit more of this.
The food at breakfast and lunch was great - à la carte lunch fabulous; however, we found dinner to be a bit disappointing. This may be due to other chains we have visited where the options have been better. There were some lovely foods on offer but they just didn’t seem to fit well with each other. There also needs to be better labelling of sauces, including ice cream sauces etc as this was definitely lacking on all stands. We ate all our meals in the courtyard which was lovely. Service on an evening was usually not as good as there was only ever one staff member taking orders, clearing tables etc so often there were 6-7 tables that were available but not cleared. There is only so much one person can do and we did feel for them at times!
All of the drinks we had were amazing and staff quickly got used to what we liked which was nice to see.
About 95% of the staff were fabulous - the odd few failed to raise smiles and in the end we tried to avoid contact where possible which is a shame. Francesca at the lobby bar, Driss (sorry if that is spelt wrong) were amazing as were the two older chaps at the pool restaurant.
Husband visited the gym which was well equipped - could do with some towels in the gym rather than have to get these from the wellness centre. A new gym is currently being built and looks great!
One disappointment was that we had two nights in succession where there was excessive noise well after midnight from the same group of guests. After the second night, I spoke to Reception who said it would be sorted. They kept mentioning the entertainment and didn’t listen when I twice tried to explain that the entertainment ended at 11pm and this was much later. 30 minutes later, we received a call in our room asking us to look at an alternative quieter room. The room was facing the street rather than our existing room with a long distant view of the pool. The room was awful but when we questioned this we were told we had been upgraded as the hotel had overbooked! So, rather than deal with the noise issue, they wanted to downgrade us to what we should have had. We were told we could pay €226 for a pool room for our remaining 4 nights.
With a few tweaks it would have been a perfect stay!
We were going to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on Fuerteventura. We chose the Barcelo Correlejo Bay Hotel. A lovely hotel close to the beach, shopping, music venues and entertainment. The hotel was lovely and clean with beautiful pools, entertainment, music, dance and lovely varied food in the restaurant. The staff at this hotel do a fantastic job – each and every one made our stay a memorable adventure. In the restaurant we fell in love with Elba and Hilario – Thank you for your kindness, warmth and for making us feel so good during our stay. You are professional and very great persons. We are looking forward to returning
Unfortunately, our stay at Barceló Corralejo Bay was badly affected by a theft from our room. Around £560 worth of jewellery and £20 cash were taken from inside a zipped hand-luggage bag that had been put away in the wardrobe.
We immediately reported the theft to the Guardia Civil, who provided an official report, and we have given a copy to the hotel. Barceló is now investigating.
What has disappointed us most is the hotel’s initial response. Rather than simply investigating how our belongings were accessed, we were told that the staff had worked there for a long time and they didn’t believe they would do it. We have never accused anyone personally, but we expect Barceló to take responsibility for investigating what happened and properly address our loss. The keys were checked who had entered our room while we were out and only the cleaner had access at the time and also the room was not cleaned on the day she entered which makes it more suspicious. Totally unacceptable from the barcelo hotel, we then had to advise we wanted no more staff to enter the room for the rest of our stay but we came back to find it had been accessed again while we were out for a towel change, which was then said it was a miss communication and won’t happen again.
A hotel room should be somewhere you feel your belongings are safe. Unfortunately, this incident has completely overshadowed our stay, and we are very disappointed with Barceló’s handling of the situation so far. We are very disappointed in the hotel as we have also had no communication since returning and they have not replied.
