My friend and I (both in our 50’s) stayed at Alua suites for 1 week (12-19th July) I loved our stay and it was everything we wanted for a week away! This review is solely reviewing the adult only area called my favourite club MFC. I think my whole holiday experience here would have been completely different had we stayed in the main complex. We booked with easyJet and although our flight was slightly delayed, our Private transfer was ready and waiting to take us to the hotel straight from the airport.. we landed 8:30 pm and were eating in the MFC restaurant at 9:30 pm! It takes approximately 30 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel and MFC have a private check-in area in reception next to the main reception desk. We were given gold wristbands made of fabric, not that horrible scratchy plastic and special keys to get in and out of the gated area. There were free pool towels already in our room to use but we were given four towel cards to change our towels throughout our stay. We were also given two drinks tokens that you exchange for a plastic cup during the day and when you’ve finished drinking just exchange it back into a token at the end of the day. We had a beautiful ground floor apartment with twin beds fully functioning air-conditioning, TV and mini fridge which was full of soft drinks and beer on arrival.. once gone, you need to pay to have it refilled although we did get a fresh bottle of Still water every day when the cleaners came in. The MFC area had plenty of plush sunbeds and it wasn’t until the end of my holiday that it started to get busier and people were getting up early to lay down towels.. the manager was seen checking empty sunbeds and removing towels that had been left for more than 40 minutes (so left those towels whilst people were eating). The buffet restaurant in our area served plenty of fresh food, but they did seem to be a lot of pork and fish, and the occasional offering of something a little more unusual like rabbit or veal. Breakfast was my favourite meal with plenty of pastries, pancakes waffles, full English breakfast, fruit, yoghurt, and Continental meats and cheeses.. I especially liked the little touch of the Made to order omelettes poached eggs and fried eggs! They even had fresh honeycomb if you wanted some on your toast or yoghurt. Most of my days were spent lazing around on a very comfortable sunbed or in the pool.. the areas were kept very clean and there was a lifeguard on duty between 10 am and 6 pm. There was also a bar open from 10:30 am until 6:30 pm which serve served sodas water Cocktails and a selection of alcoholic beverages.. when mojito’s were made fresh, but most of Cocktails were pre-mixed. In the evenings we went over to the main complex to eat dinner in the MFC restaurant where there was an Al a carte menu as well as buffet food. There was always something yummy to eat and the staff were fantastic. The adult only MFC bar opened at 8 pm and was above the restaurant and perfectly positioned to listen to the shows in the evening.. most shows were singers which were excellent, but they also had karaoke, bingo and a magic show whilst we were there. The main buffet restaurant in the main complex also had a select area for the MFC guests which was a nice touch. The only thing I was disappointed about was on the last day we had to check out out of our room at 12 pm which was absolutely fine except there was no courtesy room available.. you could hire a shower room for €10 per person for 30 minutes but it was literally just a shower, no sink and no toilet and no air-conditioning!! I think, especially due to paying to upgrade to the MFC, the courtesy room should be complementary and also maybe a courtesy room available in the gated MFC area. Overall, we had a very relaxing week and the hotel ticked all our boxes.. I loved everything from the fabric wristbands to the intentive friendly staff!! If you are looking for relaxing week away, this is the place!! don’t hesitate in booking!
We came here 11years ago for our honeymoon and was fantastic so we desided to come back. It has change since we came. The staff are lovely and pools for the kids were great. Unfortunately we were given a room right over the area where all entertainment is at night. This made night time with trying to get our kids to sleep a pain as music is on till 11pm but then after that there's is still lots of noise until early hours. We asked to be moved but were told they were full!!! The rooms had been done up a bit since last time. The food was also very very different this time round. They're wasn't a lot for the children and it was a lot of same stuff all the time. Even me and my husband got fed up of the food by the end. Last time the food was amazing. All in all we loved our holiday in corelejo and re visited places we had been 11 years ago. The water park was great to, defo recommend. I don't think we will be back to this hotel again though.
Returned for our third stay here and opted for the MFC this time. Absolutely loved it!
Great room, A/C worked well. It was clean and comfortable. Like many people I have read the poor reviews, but we didn’t have any complaints.
I emailed the hotel in advance with a request, lovely reply came the same day. Request was met.
We will be back!
Pro's Rooms clean and very good air con. Location excellent near beach. 15-20mins into town/water park. Easy to get sunbeds once not too late. Plenty of pools. Lots of toilets around pools. Entertainment team very friendly (Akim & Natalia). Food quality very good but selection limited at times. Music/evening entertainment excellent with plenty of tables. Big cinema arena for sports games. Great bar staff. Gardeners and cleaners out every morning. Great family holiday experience and would recommend.
Cons Nothing really major. Main restaurant layout confusing as its basically 2 areas serving exact same food. People queue up on one side blocking area up. Lack of plates at times. Poor selection for kids food. Electrical socket in toilet at entertainment area not safe as hanging loose beside water sink which is not safe. After highlighting to staff including reception, the repair was poor as still not secured properly. Easily accessed by wet, small kids hands/fingers. This needs to improve given the safety risk.
