A Hotel That Feels Like Home
We’ve stayed at the Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach, Golf & Spa Hotel many times, but this year really sums up just how special the hotel has become to our family. We’ve already spent 49 nights here in 2026 as Platinum Elite members, 14 over Christmas, 10 over February half term, 10 over Easter and 15 over the summer.
Yes, there are areas of the hotel that are starting to look a little tired, but honestly, that has never stopped us coming back. For us, the reason is simple: the people.
From the moment we arrive, David gives us such a warm welcome, often with an orange juice, cava or water. It’s a small touch, but it immediately makes you feel looked after.
Tom Dennis, second in command behind General Manager Jamie Santos, is quite simply one incredible human being. There doesn’t seem to be anything about the Sheraton, its rooms or its guests that Tom doesn’t know. He is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and multilingual, I’m not sure there’s a language he doesn’t speak! The Sheraton genuinely wouldn’t be the same without him.
And Jamie clearly runs a great hotel. He expects high standards from his team, and those standards are obvious throughout the resort. Despite being the General Manager, he always makes a point of coming over to greet us and our family whenever we visit, and we always have a great catch-up. That personal touch means a lot.
The staff really do feel like family
At breakfast, Jeremiah is always incredibly friendly and welcoming, while Christian recognises us every time we return and always tells us how lovely it is to see us again. Every morning he makes sure we’re looked after.
Then there’s Santiago, our coffee man! He remembers exactly what I drink and somehow often has my latte ready before I’ve even asked. And the little leaf he puts in the milk froth is a lovely personal touch. He’s another real asset to the hotel and a man of many talents.
Around the pool, Gustavo, who looks after the pool area. He keeps everything absolutely spotless, and his dedication to his job is second to none. He is incredibly friendly and conscientious, and you can tell immediately that he takes enormous pride in what he does. The care and attention he puts into keeping the pool area looking immaculate really doesn’t go unnoticed.
And Oscar, behind the towel desk, is an absolute gem. We often joke that he’s like the son we never had! His role may seem simple, but he puts his heart and soul into making sure guests are happy. Nothing seems too much trouble.
Animation
The animation team, headed by Alex, are another huge part of what makes this hotel special. Aaron, Olga, Tommy and Ione are all brilliant.
We’ve particularly built a great friendship with Aaron, who treats us like family. He always gets us involved, makes us feel welcome and has such a great way of interacting with everyone. He genuinely wants people to enjoy themselves, and you can see that in the way he gets involved with the activities and makes sure everyone is having a good time.
Olga and Tommy were brilliant during their cocktail class, funny, professional and creating an amazing atmosphere. And yes, the fact that we got to drink the cocktails afterwards was definitely a bonus!
We’ve watched Ione grow over the last few years and come out of his shell. He’s now an absolute star. He does a lot of the football with the children and teenagers and clearly loves what he does. My son absolutely loves him, which says it all.
And a huge thank you to Rebecca
I have to give a massive kudos to Rebecca from housekeeping.
Rebecca goes above and beyond. Her standards are exceptional, but it’s her warmth, friendliness and personality that really stand out. She has such a big heart, and you can see how much she genuinely adores our children and treats them almost like her own.
When we visit and Rebecca isn’t looking after our floor, we genuinely miss her. That tells you everything.
The refurbishment
We’re actually quite sad that the hotel is closing for around seven months for its renovation, although we completely understand that it’s needed.
As Platinum Elite members, we were lucky enough to see some of the pilot rooms for the new refurbishment, and we were genuinely thrilled.
I was slightly worried that the hotel might go down the ultra-modern, minimalist route and lose some of the warmth and character that makes the Sheraton what it is. Thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
The new design is modern and fresh while still retaining some of the warmth, colour and character of the existing hotel. In our opinion, they’ve struck a really good balance between old and new.
We can’t wait to return and see the finished result.
Our second home
We’ve stayed at plenty of hotels in Fuerteventura, but the Sheraton has become our favourite. Not because it’s absolutely perfect, no hotel is but because of the people.
We’re remembered. We’re welcomed. Our children are known by name. We have friendships here. We genuinely feel like part of the Sheraton family.
That is incredibly difficult for a hotel to achieve, and it’s something Jamie and his team should be incredibly proud of.
We’ll definitely be back. The Sheraton has become our second home, and it’s the people who make it that way.
Our family of 4 have spent over 120 nights across 10 stays at The Sheraton over the last 11 years, always in our 2 connecting corner rooms.
As a Marriott platinum member, I can honestly say the Sheraton staff are the best I have encountered. So many have been there throughout our 11 years of visiting, which is a sign they enjoy their work and are valued by the management team, and rightly so.
General Manager Jaime Santos runs the hotel very well. It is clear the staff like and respect him. Assistant Manager Tom is the heartbeat of the hotel. He is involved in every element to ensure smooth running and makes a point of making every guest feel welcome, and deals with any issues quickly. I lost count the number of times I saw him talking to children, much to the delight of their parents.
The public relations team of Michaela, Pedro and Tara are warm and friendly, and the reception team including William, Gloria, Ernesto, Mike and others are very welcoming and efficient. Also, special thanks to the reservations team of Maartje and Angela who make the booking process so straightforward and ensure my requests are fulfilled.
The restaurant staff work extremely hard, doing both breakfast and lunch shifts. Special mention to Nelio, Saraya, Christian, Jeremias and Antonio for always looking after my family so well.
The entertainment/ animacion team at this hotel has always been first class. Alex has such enthusiasm when leading the dancing at the mini disco each night that it remains the highlight of the day for many children including my girls, Mollie and Maisie. The staff have such a friendly manner with the children and special thanks to Olga, who makes a special effort to get to know families as well as Aaron, Tommy, Jason and all the team, who are so encouraging and helpful.
The spa is excellent at this hotel. Very good facilities and equally strong team.
We look forward to returning next year after the refurbishment. The hotel owners should be praised for retaining the staff during the planned 7 month refurbishment and temporarily relocating them to other Elba hotels.
I have every confidence the refurbishment will improve the hotel, which has been in need of decoration and new furnishings. It would be nice to see a Sheraton Club Lounge for the benefit of platinum and titanium guests, inkeeping with other Sheratons.
We look forward to improved food offerings after the refurbishments. A wider lunch menu would be good, perhaps with some asian options, and it would be nice to see fresh waffles at breakfast rather than pre-made packet waffles.
Most importantly, we hope the staff return and very much look forward to returning in August 2027.
When I saw some of the reviews I thought we was going to be disappointed When we arrived here Thursday lovely lady on reception very professional and welcomed us back for our third holiday here . We also spoke to David who remembered us and welcomed us back Our room has been cleaned both yesterday and today and is spotless cleaner very friendly . Our room on the second floor has amazing views . The breakfast excellent had always all cooked lovely the bacon and sausage beautiful so much choice of fruit staff really friendly and helpful Had outr favourite cocktail pink colada made perfect and love the nuts and sweet treats Entertainmentshave been great so far I Although the hotel is going to be closed from October for refurbishment don’t let that put you off because our experience so far this week has been excellent has always
The perfect location, easy access to the beach, a short walk on the promenade to restaurants and supermarket. The hotel is great value for money, with a lovely evening vibe and good entertainment for both children and adults. The room and hotel is clean, with everything you need. The staff are lovely and friendly. Great pools with lots of space for lounging. Good food available at the hotel.
Only the price is 5 star. The hotel is badly run down. I know a refurb is on the way but standards have slipped dramatically. Every staff member looks miserable. Reception being the worst. William and his team are beyond rude. There is litter everywhere. I think they must have little to no cleaning staff as house keeping only appeared twice during my stay. Worryingly, there is no security and the back gate facing out into the beach is open and the public walk in and out constantly. Some very dodgy looking characters too. Don't go half board, the evening food is bland and boring. Asian night being inedible. What I will say is the only good thing this hotel has going for it is Peadro. He deserves to be working in a more professional hotel that care for their staff. He basically keeps the hotel standing in my opinion
