Barcelo Fuerteventura Castillo

Brilliant location, right next to the beach. Lovely reception and bar area, staff could not do enough for you. We paid for a premium room which gave us spa access and upgraded Buffett. The restaurant was lovely too. Drinks were table service. The room was large, comfy bed, separate lounge kitchen area with brilliant air con. The usual lack of sunbeds with shade unless you are up with the birds. Although room initially looked good, it was a little rough in parts, wear and tear, but could have been fixed. I made our bed every day, clean towels and bin emptying daily, fresh water. We had 1 day when we got no water, no tea and coffee even though they had emptied the bin and changed the towels. The food, what can I say, it was awful. There was choice, so much choice. I would have preferred less choice and more quality. I don’t know how there can be so much and expect the quality to be there. Recycled food, what else can they do, as they would be throwing a lot of food away. We paid for premium, but still had to eat out. I wish hotels did B&B with inclusive drinks. The other restaurants at the Mar were nice, but the staff not as nice as the Castillo. Maybe it was the size of the Hotel. To be honest I don’t think I’d do a hotel again, the extra I paid for the premium was not worth it for us. Barcelo is associated with a premium product, yes it was a beautiful setting, premium service from the staff, not so premium room, and 1 star food. Come on Barcelo sort that food out!

It was my second visit at this hotel. I really enjoyed the first time so I decided that I want to spend my 18 birthday there. I chose this one because I wanted to prevent a disappointment during such a special time, it’s not a standard for hotels to keep their quality over the years. During check in we got a free upgrade which was a nice surprise for us because our travel agency told us that we can’t book a 2 bedroom suite because we are a party of three. The room was amazing. The food was as tasty as the last time. The selection of drinks is big and the drinks are made specially for you, not poured form dispensers. The 2 bartenders working during evening entertainment at the marea bar near the pool( the guy with dark blond hair and the other guy whose name was something like ’Estilo’ but I’m not sure if I wrote it correctly) made the best drinks and were very welcoming and kind and knew all the menu which is sometimes a bit of a struggle in other resorts I visited. The entertainment is great, we especially liked the girl from Portugal with curly brown hair. The evening entertainment was okay. The cleaning happens every day and is very precise. We enjoyed the app that allowed us to order amenities and fixing in just a second. We also loved the wristbands with the build-in key to the door. The fact that needs my special attention is the kindness and hospitality of all the staff members, they say ’hola’ every time they see you, even if they had never seen you before. I have never came across something like that in any other hotel, not even in different Barceló. For me it’s the best all inclusive hotel I have been so far and I’m looking forward to visiting again.
