Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
After reading the previous reviews we were a bit hesitant on arrival but check in was quick and our room already ready,then it went rapidly down hill.Room from the 70s,a junior suite which wasn't the picture on the site,toilet seat broken,patio door handle broken,shower tray which leaked.Yes they were fixed whithin the hour but c'mon.Food is poor,cold,undercooked and very repetetive..unless you like pork.We were A/I so took full advantage of the great bar/room service,ice cold san mig,sparkling cava & large measures of cocktails.Best thing deffo the staff.How they cope with the volume of people i don't know.Overall 5/10..too many people,too noisy for us & not what i expect from a Sol hotel.
Not bad location , rooms are just average on the small side , atmosphere consider lively. Things are very expensive and very badly lable it feels like a bit of a con example: cheap price very large numbers which you can see very clearly , the more expensive staff lable which you could hardly see , when question the seller they then point to the higher price of the goods which is written in light pencil , be very careful when venture out and about , be ware how they scam you into buying their goods thinking is a good price. Inside the hotel is clean enough , but where the pool is and some of the toilets they are quite dirty. People here hardly speaks English when majority of the holiday makers are British. Food , salad is the same throughout the seven day , hot food even when me and my partner goes in at 6:30 when the doors open the food is cold or lukewarm, choices are more the same everyday , some of the fruits are not fresh at all , some you can taste foul out of date . This place needs an upgrade, not quite 4 star . Disappointed ☹️.
This hotel is located across the road to beach its a lovely clean hotel rooms are good standard and kept clean. People say it is geared up for kids not at all no ball games no floats allowed which children love in pool, pool towels when you change them your charged!! The main big thing is the food it is barely warm and food is not cooked through properly, there is a wagon near pool where you can get nice properly cooked food. And a restaurant on the beach Amillos is nice right opposite the gate where you come out on to the street. For a 4* the food is the worst I've had and I'm not a fussy eater.
Brilliant hotel great kids pool with slides Bar staff really accommodating Danny especially any do enough for you 🙌🏻 My cousin recommended this hotel glad she did so close to beach also 20 second walk 🏖️
Fantastic hotel and facilities – but serious lack of vegetarian dinner options.
We had a fantastic stay at Sol Príncipe and overall I was extremely impressed. The hotel, pools, facilities, atmosphere and overall experience were amazing. Breakfast and lunch were also very good, with plenty of choice, and we really enjoyed our holiday.
However, I feel the hotel management genuinely needs to address the lack of proper vegetarian hot food at dinner/lunch .
The evening buffet was extremely meat and fish orientated, with a huge amount of choice for meat eaters, including numerous meat dishes and sauces, while the vegetarian hot options were extremely limited.
Night after night, the vegetarian choice was essentially potatoes, two vegetable dishes and pasta with a plain tomato sauce. Having the same basic pasta and tomato sauce as the main vegetarian hot option every evening became very disappointing, particularly in a hotel of this size and standard.
There was pizza available, but even this caused an issue. A pizza that looked like a margherita/vegetarian pizza actually contained tuna. This is particularly concerning because a vegetarian guest could easily assume that a pizza without obvious meat toppings was vegetarian. Vegetarian pizzas should be clearly labelled and kept separate from meat and fish pizzas to avoid confusion.
I don’t think it would be unreasonable to expect at least one proper, substantial vegetarian hot dish every evening, with the dish changing throughout the week. Simple options such as:
🌱 Vegetable curry 🌱 Vegetarian lasagne 🌱 Vegetable stir-fry 🌱 Ravioli 🌱 Vegetarian pasta bake 🌱 Vegetable casserole
would make a huge difference.
This isn’t about expecting an enormous vegetarian buffet. One clearly labelled, properly prepared vegetarian main course each evening would be enough. What was disappointing was seeing such a wide variety of hot dishes for meat and fish eaters while the vegetarian choice was so limited.
I am giving the hotel 5 stars overall because the hotel itself, the facilities, pools and our general experience were excellent, but I really hope management takes this feedback seriously. Vegetarian guests should not have to rely on potatoes, vegetables and plain pasta every evening while there are numerous meat and fish options available.
With such a fantastic hotel and facilities, improving the vegetarian dinner offering would make the experience considerably better and more inclusive for vegetarian guests.
I would happily return to Sol Príncipe, and I hope that by the time I do, the vegetarian dinner selection will have improved.
