We spent 10 levely days @ Occidental Torremolinos - it was really good. Proximity to the beach, pool areas with a splashpad, excellent breakfast... overall very good experience.
Location was good, but you walk from end of street to hotel , 1st room was deluxe family room which was small no room for suitcases it was noisy and unclean ! We payed to upgrade which was better , you have to make your own way to your room with suitcases up stairs however the air-con was poor , we do understand it was very hot weather but it was set by hotel not cool enough ! The room seemingly was checked before we entered which was rubbish as the shower head was missing, water leaking from sink , lamp was not attached and fell down, TV not connected, water very hot/very cold occasionally. However the meals were adequate and hot enough plenty for everyone and clean , drinks were ok , staff were great very approachable. Pools open at 9 am and the other 10 am both means queuing, only a few parasols so grab what is left .pool bar opens at 11 am , only 1 serving which was not great if you wanted a drink. Room maids were very good so well done to them. Night time entertainment was missed by us as never any seats available all taken by 7-8 pm , kids rule so if you have a teenager you have to go for a walk along the beach ( which we enjoyed) adult entertainment was 10-11 pm still no seats. We had to stand to watch the magician perform and Spanish dancers no seats You get told nothing at reception when checking in, handed a map and sent on our way , cool water has to be got at reception bar as not in room. Toilet in reception are fresh well cleaned so a special thank you as it cannot be easy ! Towels are free but you require tickets and but 2 euros if you want to get fresh ones (ridiculous) A/I means you have to pay for crisps and ice lollies which is strange. A/I buffet mini, opened 11 am which was a godsend as lots of drinks hot food and snacks. Most restaurants outwith hotel was fish but did look good, all in all we did enjoy our stay, bed was comfortable and lovely weather Just remember this is a family hotel so lots of kids during their hols, running around , it’s better to ask others if you have any problems as reception staff can be unhelpful and unpleasant We did speak to manager about our unlucky situation , and he did put a technician to rectify some of our problems
To get to the hotel you have to walk from the bottom of the street to the entrance of the hotel the air conditioning in the room was not cool enough at night, we had to move rooms the night we arrived because the room we got was a family deluxe room we had a family of 3 and there wasn’t enough room to even put our suitcases open lying flat to get to the family deluxe room you have to go from reception out and up stairs to your designated floor/room and if you have a larger family you have to get all the suitcases you don’t get any help to get to your room. Then we paid to upgrade to a junior suite which was a much bigger room and had a lot more space but the air conditioning did not keep the room cold enough during the whole of our stay the air conditioning only goes down to 15 degrees and the room temperature was 26.8 degrees when we looked a technician assessed the air conditioning is working correctly and he told us that’s the lowest it could go and max fan power when we felt the vents barely any air was coming out. Then in the bathroom the right hand sink was leaking, and the shower had no shower head. In the main the bedroom you do not get water in the mini fridge even though it says you do the tv was saying “not programmed”and has to get the technician to fix it the next day. In the other bed room with the sofa bed the lamp was broken the lamp shade was hanging and the light bulb was dangling. Although the balcony had a lot of space with 2 sun loungers and 2 tables and chairs and a sun shaded bed which was perfect for us. 1 pool opened at 9 am and the other opened at 10 am but had to queue to get and sun lounger with shade, at the pool you have to queue at 09.30-09.45 to wait in the queue the pool bar doesn’t open until 11.00 only 1 person serving until 12.00 causing a lengthily queue. The night time entertainment there is no seats left so couldn’t get a seat only managed to watch 1 show and a little of the other because our legs got sore for standing to long. For the cleanliness of rooms was really good the maids were working away all day so thank you to them! The little kids disco is at 9-10 pm but the kids stay up for the adult entertainment which takes the seats up. As you don’t get any water with the room you have to go to the bar to get your designated amount of bottled water sometimes it is cold sometimes it is warm. According to the food front the Mediterranean buffet restaurant the food was always war they were always putting out fresh.
Highly recommend this hotel for a family holiday. 2nd year there now for a week with kids. A 10 min taxi from Malaga airport and then All inclusive was the way to go. Rooms are clean and quiet for families but loads of entertainment day and night. Never any hassle getting a sun lounger and across road from the beach. HIGHLY recommend!
