For the first time in 20 years, a Tripadvisor Travellersβ Choice winner has completely misled us in our choice of hotel.
Iberostar Selection Marbella Coral Beach is tired and worn, giving the clear impression that its owners are charging premium prices for an outdated product. The food is comparable to what you would expect on a budget cruise ship.
Around half of the staff are genuinely friendly, but that seems to be due to their individual personalities rather than the result of strong service standards, or quality management within the Iberostar brand.
Iberostar Selection Marbella Coral Beach does not deserve its four-star rating. On a good day, it might deserve three.
We will never stay at an Iberostar hotel again.
Ana at reception was super helpful and Alejandro by the pool was amazing went above and beyond to help , such a nice person and super helpful , as well as Christina from management who was also extremely attentive and helpful . Sangria by the pool was yum The rooms are huge and spacious and I was most impressed by Alejandroβs customer service .
We were a bit nervous after booking this hotel as we have been very fortunate to stay at 5 star All inclusive hotels beforeβ¦ however wanted a change and booked B & B and wanted to explore! (You can get all inclusive at this hotel too) The reception area is stunning and the hotel was spotless ! We got lovely rooms on the ground floor by the pool. The room was tidied everyday! The buffet breakfast was excellent and the staff all amazing at breakfast esp shout out to young David (dark hair). And the omelette chef ! The hotel is secure and a short walk from the beach either direction (short cut near the beach club). The kids loved the blonde lady in the lunch restaurant (glamorous lady forgotten her name) and David the fitness/entertainment guy so friendly too (as was the Argentina lady and other young man). We recommend going to the beach club near hotel (just wish we had realised the discount we should have received!). We walked into purto banus most nights for dinner (15/20 mins along prom) and walked back from Marbella one night along prom took over an hour in wedges! However plenty of taxis and Ubers and service very good ! We also visited Malaga and friends along the coast too! Good location and facilities near by ππ» Plus Aldi opposite hotel across the road - we bought snacks and fizz for the room and used the fridge in room ! (Emptied first!).
Used the gym and our son had a massage.
We would highly recommend this hotel and would def stay here again!
Thank you
I really love this hotel and, overall, I had a very good impression of the property. Unfortunately, however, my experience with one of the reception staff members was extremely disappointing.
There was a particular lady at reception who was very rude and made me feel as though helping guests was an inconvenience to her. On one occasion, I simply asked for help with a train reservation, and her attitude immediately became annoyed, as if she was upset that she had to assist me. It was very uncomfortable and completely contrary to the level of hospitality I would expect from a hotel of this standard.
I also had a delivery that was unfortunately delayed and arrived one day after I had checked out. I contacted the hotel and offered to pay all shipping and handling costs myself, simply asking if they could help ship the package to me. They refused, and the way I was spoken to was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. At one point, while I was still speaking on the phone, the receptionist actually hung up on me.
Unfortunately, there was also a very serious issue during my stay: my watch was stolen from the hotel. This made the experience even more upsetting and raised serious concerns for me regarding the security of guests and their belongings.
It is genuinely a shame because I really like this hotel and the property itself is beautiful. However, the attitude I experienced from reception, the way my request was handled after checkout, and the incident involving my watch significantly affected my overall experience. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because the reception team is often the first and last impression a guest has of a hotel.
Fabulous hotel with the lovliest staff!
