In the very heart of the Costa del Sol, the Occidental Fuengirola offers a unique experience in the perfect setting for enjoying your free time and a variety of activities. The location next to the seafront promenade, and city centre, provides easy access to shops, restaurants, bars, and supermarkets.The hotel has three dining areas that provide different options throughout the day. There is also a heated swimming pool perfect for taking a dip at any time of the year.
Be sure to enjoy recreational amenities, including an outdoor pool, a steam room and a fitness centre. Additional amenities at this Beaux Arts hotel include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and gift shops/newsstands.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Hotel food selection and quality was poor. Was at the end of September and room showed signs of the summer wear and tear. Hotel was more geared for groups of golfers. The hotel entertainment went on was poor
Great location right on the beach. the pool and beer garden are excellent and great atmosphere. Breakfast is top notch. Rooms are clean and tidy.
Excellent hotel on the beach with everything you need a short walk away. Very modern and stylish hotel for the price. Cannot fault it for what we paid.
We recently spent a week at the Occidental Hotel, staying in a Superior Room with a sea view on a half-board basis. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was spotless, and our room was immaculate. The food was also excellent — everything was presented with care and was very fresh. However, there were a few aspects of our stay that were disappointing. Firstly, I was surprised to be charged for the use of the room safe. In my opinion, for a four-star hotel at this price, the use of a safe should be included in the room rate rather than being an additional charge. Due to our flight arrangements, we unfortunately missed one evening meal. We asked whether there was any possibility of having the meal we had paid for another time, particularly as the hotel does provide meals from the bar. We were simply told that we had "lost it". I felt this was rather disappointing and that a little more flexibility or customer service would have been appreciated. We also asked about using a room to have a shower before leaving the hotel on our departure day. We were told that this would cost €40, which again seemed quite expensive, particularly given the overall price of the holiday. The hotel was also very busy with large groups of golfers during our stay. As there are only two lifts, they could become quite congested, and noisy. Particularly with guests carrying golf clubs travelling to and from their rooms. This was not a major issue, but it could be inconvenient at busy times. Despite these points, we did enjoy our holiday and would like to emphasise the many positives. The hotel was exceptionally clean, the room was maintained to a very high standard, the food was fresh and well presented, and the staff were consistently friendly. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, but I feel that some of the additional charges, particularly for the room safe and the €40 charge for a shower room on departure, are difficult to justify for a four-star hotel at this price.
This was my third visit to the occidental and I have already booked for june and September 2027. Staying in a junior suite is an amazing experience and as usual the staff cannot do enough to make your stay amazing. ***** 5 stars
