The Sol Pelícanos-Ocas resort is located in Benidorm, in Rincón de Loix, and only 300 m from the beautiful Levante Beach and at 2km from the center. Formed by the “Pelícanos” and “Ocas” buildings, this spectacular resort is ideal for family vacations all year round and for discovering one of the most important tourist destinations in the Mediterranean thanks to its privileged climate, beaches and great nightlife. Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Location was marvellous easy to walk too the nightlife. The atmosphere was great. People were friendly. The rooms were big enough with plenty of storage. The shower was fantastic. The price for the room with half board was responsible. If you are on a budget then this is the hotel for you. The rooms were kept clean and tidy. The noise level wasn't too bad, as I could leave my balcony door open all night. The reception staff were very helpful and very patient. The pool is absolutely fantastic. It is huge, loved it. There is 2 snooker tables and a pint pong table, so you won't get bored. The food is not too bad. I'm a fussy eater and love spicy food, alas they have to cater for everyone. They had fresh chicken, fresh beef and fresh pork cooking while you wait on separate occasions. The food is varied with plenty of salad, chips and pasta. There is something for everyone. Breakfast was good, although I only had it once as I'm a cereal eater. There was plenty of cold meats and fresh fruit available. I would say be careful as the chopped melons can sometimes need replacing as I think it had been mixed with older melon and it tasted it had gone off and very slimy when you eat it. The cake selection were nice and plentyiful. I didn't sleep well, but that was because the pillows were hard and I like a soft pillow.
I've visited Benidorm around 7 times now, staying at various apartments and hotels over the years. I can honestly say this is by far the worst hotel I have stayed in. The only thing going for it is the location. Firstly on the first day of our arrival, I visited the bathroom in the early evening and waste shower water from the room above was running through the ventilation vent and a previously patched up hole into our shower, health hazard number 1...secondly, when I stepped into the shower, the shower base was all spongy with a hole in it, when stepped on, dirty gunge came ot of thr hole...health hazard number 2. I reported this to reception with video evidence, the person on reception needed some customer service training as she was very rude, unhelpful and made me feel like 'how dare you complain'. Incidentally room number was 2329. The water from the shower above seemed to be fixed, but the shower tray wasn't, we weren't offered another room at any point. Thirdly, all around the basin at certain times of the day we were plagued by black ants, we mentioned it to room service and shown her the problem and said she will disinfectant the are. I'm sorry but disinfecting doesn't address the problem, so next day our little friends were back. The food in the main restaurant, both breakfast and evening meal were mediocre at best, no variety and no flavour and poor quality on a daily basis, so ended eating out on a few occasions to have something half decent. We paid good money to have at least a decent room without health hazards, insects and a decent meals, this wasn't fulfilled by any means, so its safe to say I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, its tired and run down and the lack of investment is starting to show.
1st visit and an excellent choice of hotel(my wife's choice) ....the staff are very helpful and food is great will definitely return probably next year would definitely recommend rooms are cool and big enough for two
Excellent location of hotel in benidorm. Close walk to the beach local shops,and benidorm strip. The hotel itself very clean. Cleaners came in everyday to change bedding towels etc. Very polite and professional cleaning staff. The reception team on the other hand very rude and not helpful. The lifts kept on breaking down and took days to repair which only gave 1 working lift for a very big hotel. We only had bed and breakfast, the breakfast was very poor and did not taste nice, we had 1 breakfast for during our stay,So many rules around the pool. A lady (member of staff)kept on walking around telling people off. This one holiday maker accidentally dropped a bottle on the floor and the lady shouted at her,and stated if you do that again you will be out,This is supposed to be a relaxing holiday and it felt like being in a school playground waiting to be told off. I understand there has to be rules in place, but this was way to much. I will not be returning to this hotel.
