Sandos Benidorm Suites

We had an amazing stay at this hotel, staff were lovely, food was fantastic and the room was so big. The location was perfect for us as well, away from the main centre of benidorm so it was quiet. Entertainment staff were brilliant with the kids. The only thing I would change is to be on a lower floor so we will request one on our next visit. Looking forward to going back next year!

We stayed at Sandos Benidorm Suites for 10 nights as a family, and unfortunately the hotel didn’t meet our expectations.

The positives first: the staff were friendly, the food was generally good, and the pool area was nice, although a bit small for such a large hotel.

However, there were several disappointments.

The rooms are dated and in need of refurbishment. The bathroom showed visible signs of wear, and the room simply didn’t feel like a modern 4-star hotel.

The biggest disappointment was the housekeeping. The only obvious sign that the room had been cleaned was that the bin had been emptied. The floors were rarely, if ever, properly swept or cleaned. Sand and dust remained on the floor every day, even though we never walked through the room wearing our outdoor shoes. We actually wished the hotel provided slippers because walking barefoot left the soles of our feet dirty.

The room amenities were also very basic. There were no slippers, no shampoo or conditioner, only a wall-mounted shower gel dispenser. We even had to leave a note asking for hand soap because it wasn’t replaced, and we were left washing our hands with the tiny remaining sliver of soap.

On one occasion, a live cockroach fell out of a freshly folded bath towel. This was particularly shocking and raised serious concerns about the hotel’s housekeeping standards.

The biggest issue was the noise. We knew Benidorm was a lively holiday destination and expected some noise. However, the rooms were very poorly soundproofed. The evening entertainment continued until around midnight every night, and it often felt as though it was taking place inside our room. To make matters worse, one of our balcony doors didn’t close properly, making it even harder to block out the noise.

Finally, the hotel is farther from Levante Beach than we expected, which became noticeable in the summer heat.

Overall, this wasn’t the relaxing holiday we had hoped for. Between the poor housekeeping, dated rooms, lack of basic amenities and excessive noise, we don’t feel the hotel provides the standard expected from a 4-star property. We wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

To hopefully lower the expectations of someone like us - this hotel is not 4 stars. Sunbed wars (nothing was done to stop this either), food is not good unless you like british cuisine (fried beige food) or seafood from buffets. Our room was in desperate need for renovations (toilet seat was loose, shower was falling off the wall and our bathroom door didn't even work when we first got our room). Air conditioning in the room was the worst one out of all the hotels we've stayed at. Entertainment was repeated every few days, which for us didn't matter because we spent most of the holiday away from the hotel anyways. Drinks from all inclusive was also awful (tasted bitter, no carbonation), sodas and non alcoholic was fine. Elevators for odd floors was SO SLOW, with no air conditioning either so it was like a sauna in there. We won't be returning to this hotel when we have stayed in much better hotels with lower rankings and lower prices. We had good experiences with the staff though, so no shade to any of them!
