Port Benidorm

Great experience. Arrived early afternoon around 1:30pm and our room was ready on the 14th floor. Room spotless, and well renovated. I was a little concerned after reading some reviews regarding the glass bathroom situation. We found this to not be a major issue as the glass is frosted and it's difficult to see through however if you needed to use the toilet in the night the light from the bathroom would aluminate the whole bedroom. Plus you are unable to lock the glass bathroom door (it just swings). Overall we made it work, but could prove an issue for some. The pool area is lovely and clean and is never really busy. (Maybe the time of year ?) Like others have said there is no need to get a sun bed early doors. We went down about 11am and there were still loads available. This makes the experience so much more relaxing (not having to rush for a sun bed). The restaurant was also spotless, food was a bit hit and miss. Sometimes cold and would need re heating in the microwave. Also even though there was a large selection, we found there were a lot of fish dishes and as neither of us eat fish we did struggle slightly however always found something to eat. There were things like pizza and chips daily with a rotation of grilled turkey/pork/beef available. Lots of salad and desserts which were very nice. Lots of options for breakfast including full English and continental. Can't really judge too much on the evening entertainment as we went out most evenings as it's so close to many bars, restaurants and the beach. The evenings we did stay in there was a singer and a show put on but the atmosphere and experience is nothing like what you will find in the bars 5-10 minute walk away, all having various shows, singers and entertainment to a very good standard. The bar on the 19th floor "La Terrasse" was lovely in the evening with cracking views, drinks prices only slightly more expensive than the main hotel bar and pool bar (3.50 euro for a beer around the pool and main bar and 5.00 euro in La Terrasse bar). We stayed half board and did look at the AI upgrade for 22 euro per person per day however for us found it wouldn't be worth it. We don't really eat lunch, only on occasions and like to venture outside the hotel for a day or two and in the evenings. Even though staying by the pool most days we found it was still cheaper for us being half board.

Lastly lots of reviews mention negative comments regarding the lifts. During our 7 night stay we never had an issue, not once. We did stay clear of peak dinning hours though, whether this makes the difference I'm not sure. Just don't let that put you off. If in any doubt you could ask for a low floor room when booking.

Overall no major issues, would definitely recommend.

We arrived at half 12 but could not get in the room until 5 minutes to 4.The room was nice in the sky tower but there was building work being done opposite but that was no problem opposite our room.The maid only left i small milk per person u needed at least 3each we didnt mind buying mik but when u have had a long day u need a drink.Also i asked at reception if we needed to book La Terraza and we were told not if u only want drinks so after evenig meal at 8oclock we went up to the 19th floor there were 2 other couples from the hotel that were also going there.The girl on the desk said we couldnt go in as we hadnt booked i told her what the reception had said but she said no the other 2 couples were turned away i asked could we come tomorrow but was told no it is fully booked.We also saw the security guard asking 5 people that came in the hotel were they residents they said no we are going to La Terraza.It seems outsiders come before residents which is unfair to paying guests.The cleaner was lovely but some of the restaurant staff were not very friendly the older male member of staff did not smile the whole time we were there.It was not our first time it was our 3rd but we will not be back.

Beautiful hotel, refurbishment has been done to a high standard. Everywhere was spotless & rooms cleaned daily. I found the double bed a little bit hard as I have back issues, but I spoke to reception who arranged for a mattress topper which helped a lot. We had no problem with the lifts at all as others have mentioned on here, we were in the blue tower. Restaurant is lovely, it’s in sort of sections so not like one big canteen & feels so much nicer than others we’ve stayed in. Food was plentiful, excellent choice & good quality. Only thing missing for me was no yogurt available at breakfast time. Swimming Pools are great, we liked the new pool that was heated slightly, it is in the shade early afternoon though. We upgraded to AI from HB which was €22 each per day, great value!! Only thing we didn’t quite get, was why we were only allowed to use the main pool bar for AI, the other bar by the new pool was for paying guest only & was hardly used due to this. Drinks on the AI were good, Absolut Vodka, Johnny Walker Whisky, Prosecco, Baileys etc… It was only high end alcohol that wasn’t included (ie: Jack Daniels). Entertainment we didn’t really watch but we liked the outdoor terrace on the front of the hotel in the evenings. Overall we had a fab holiday & we would book this hotel again.
