Medplaya Hotel Regente

Location not bad not in thick of all pubs but some around hotel to get a drink.Night time can get a little noisy with karaoke at red lion and some good tribute bands on,but can close balcony door to keep sound out. We we’re on 9 th floor across from lift some noises from guest getting out at night could be herd .On a few accessions we had to use stairs as lifts were very slow.Air con none existent came on for 5 minutes in 3 nights we stayed baring in mind was 32 degrees that week .Breakfast not the best paid for 3 mornings,only ate 1 morning that was enough to put us off eating there next morning.Fridge didn’t work bought a pint of milk to have gone of next day .shower was disappointing,watering can would of ran quicker.Staff are all friendly and welcoming.Best place to get a my near by is the Yorkshire prid pub just up hill past Lidl.

Overall: A hotel that is a great base for exploring benidorm. I would say most suitable for couples rather than families with children in my view. The hotel is modern, clean and has a great location in benidorm, but i would say lacks a bit of the wow factor.

Food: Breakfast: a good variety from English cooked breakfast to continental options as well as live cooking stations for pancakes and omelette. Lovely gentleman welcoming us to breakfast always with a lovely smile and providing a great service. 8/10

Lunch: Cannot comment as did not use this service

Snacks: a fantastic positive point of the hotel. Snacks offered by the little snack hut at the pool from 11am - 5pm. Toasties, hot dogs, burgers, chips etc. Just ideal for a quick bite to eat during the day if you didnt want to go in for lunch at the restaurant, the gentleman serving the Snacks always very friendly and works extremely hard always with a smile and great personality. Thankyou

Dinner: A decent choice but not huge. could be more options for children i would say. Live cooking stations every night. I had a positive experience and especially enjoyed the chicken doner build your own wrap night. You can always find something to eat and no issues with temperature or food quality. Dessert section is limited to what we have experienced in other hotels. 8/10

Staff: Most were lovely and hospitable expecially reception, breakfast and the snack guy. A gentleman that works the pool bar sometimes very snappy and moody I cannot remember his name. I tried speaking Spanish to him just good Morning and hello and he told me to speak English I found this quite rude as I was only making an effort to be polite in Spanish. There was another gentleman in the restauant bar one night he was very rude to me slamming glass down at me becsuse I changed my order. Hotel should monitor this. But overall most staff friendly and welcoming.

SPEICAL NOTE: Night security staff havier extremely friendly. Also gabby. My son lost his hat which gabby had found ans took to reception Thankyou guys.

Pool: The real disappointment of the holiday. No inflatables in pool my son wasn't even allowed a small ball to play with. I understand the safety rules, but come on guys a small ball for a child to play with is not a safety issue and effected our overall enjoyment. The female lifeguard very strict on enforcing the rules. Even stopping a small child with a inflatable swimming aid. I understand there are busy times and safety must come first, but for families these things are big deal and the hotel should reconsider its position i would recommend

Cleanliness: spot on no issues hotel spotless throughout

Entertainment: not the best programme. And should definitely be outside where they already have a stage ready to use. Inside Entertainment in summer just doesnt feel the same. But overall enjoyed especially the karaoke. Entertainment staff friendly and welcoming to all guests. Thankyou

Room: Not the biggest to be honest but suited us for 4 nights. Cleaning not a great standard to be honest but not enough to complain about

I have stayed at many all inclusive hotels with my children and I would say the hotel management needs to really do some training with its staff to teach them how to go the extra mile for the customers. It felt at times we were a hinderence and a problem rather than their guests. I would say making more of an effort with the children and families should be a priority to improve guest experience

Would we return? With the children no. But as a base for me any my partner for a small break yes possibly
