Dining is taken care of at the hotel’s main restaurant, which serves buffet-style meals with a mix of local flavours and international favourites. For drinks or a light snack, there’s a cocktail bar and pool bar – both perfect for watching the sunset over the bay.
Stylishly decorated and designed for comfort, each room at The Views Baia offers a spacious seating area with a table and two chairs, along with a private balcony where you can enjoy sweeping views over Funchal and the surrounding Madeira mountains. Unfortunately I had two incidents. One where the room wasn't ready on arrival, and when it was ready they didn't let me know! And two, where the room wasn't cleaned properly leading me to speak to reception 3 times on one day!! Apart from that, once the assistant manager had sorted things out (as reception couldn't care less!) it was wonderful. Robe, slippers and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Food was exquisite in the buffet. Gym was good but be warned, only one treadmill! Excellent location.
The Views was a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport and a 15 minute walk to Funchal town and the port. Plenty of restaurants and worth visiting the old town to see the painted doors. You will need to brace yourself for the walk back as it is very steep. Download the Bolt app (uber) it will come in very handy. We did think about hiring a car which would have been useful but the driving is very fast paced and need to be a confident driver.
On arrival we felt like royalty, the reception was very grand and we were greeted by friendly reception staff. We had booked a delux room on floor 9 which was beautiful with complimentary bubbles and chocolates. Despite the small balcony the floor to ceiling windows of the sea and mountains made up for it. Only thing that was missing for me was a dressing table and shelving in the shower to put products on rather than the floor. Shower wasn’t particularly strong unless you had it on the cooler setting. TV only works if you mirror screen to Samsung product and would loose WiFi often. As mentioned by others you had €3 euros a day deducted from your final bill if didn’t have room service but based on the cost of the room felt this wasn’t necessary, personally the luxury of being away for me is having someone clean your room and make your bed.
Beautiful pool area with plenty of sunbeds and gorgeous views aswell as an indoor pool. Be warned the pool area is very slippery and we saw numerous people slip and unfortunately one older lady fall down but thankfully other then a nasty bruise was okay. There was someone regularly brushing the water away and was slip signs but feel that maybe this needs to be addressed with an anti slip surface around the pool area.
Delicious breakfast with table service for delux members and the choice to order from a menu which we took advantage of a couple of times but is limited. The buffet dinner was extra at a cost of €33 per person which was quite pricey based on the options available. Pool bar is open until 7:00 and there was a reduced menu available to order from in the restaurant.
Overall the hotel was perfect for what we wanted, the staff go above and beyond and all polite and helpful. The areas we have highlighted for improvement would not deter us from visiting again. The island was beautiful with so much to see and feel a week was not long enough… we will most definitely visit again.

The hotel itself it’s good, and some of the staff are lovely. The spa is really good, even though it can get busy in the evening but still nice. However, the rooms are slightly small and the balcony (well I would not call that a balcony) it’s more like a very dark corridor, and claustrophobic feeling if I’m honest. The cleanliness could improve immensely as our bathroom was’t cleaned properly the whole 5 days we were there, and our bed wasn’t properly made. Basically it was just the top sheet being pulled to the top. By the way we were staying at the deluxe room 1014 on the 10th floor.
We had such a lovely stay at this hotel and are really happy that we chose it for our trip.
We especially want to say a big thank you to Patricia, Alirio and Daniel. They were always so kind, friendly and genuinely willing to help with anything we needed. You could really feel that they cared about making our stay a good one, and that meant a lot to us.
Thanks to them and the whole team, we felt very welcome and comfortable throughout our stay. It’s amazing how much a few kind and helpful people can change your whole experience.
We are leaving very happy and with lots of great memories. We enjoyed our stay so much that we would definitely love to come back one day.

Just returned from a week’s holiday in Funchal, this hotel is central but on a hill. The hotel is well maintained and has comfortable bedrooms and lounge / bar facilities. It is a very international hotel with lots of visitors from different places in Europe. Our room was very good, the beds are comfortable with a choice of pillows. The bathroom is good with shower over bath and good wardrobe space. The only drawback is the very small balcony! I really don’t understand why they have designed them in this manner and it’s the one thing that makes me think about looking at other hotels if we return. The restaurant however could persuade me to return! The quality and choice of food on offer at breakfast and in the evening is exceptional. We took the half board with drinks option and enjoyed local wine and beer with our meal along with a bottle of water. The waiting staff are lovely, very friendly, interested in your day and will offer to remove plates as and when you are finished a meal. The range of meals available suits all diets. There is a young lady who works on a desk next to reception, she was very helpful with any questions we had. The same can’t be said for reception staff who would shut down your question with a response before you even finished the sentence. They are the only staff who were unfriendly. The spa facilities were great with helpful staff and the pool bar area was lovely with lots of comfortable seats and friendly staff. The pool area, beds etc are comfortable, the pool patio area however could be slippy if wet and there were a couple of tumbles when we were there. Overall this is a fabulous hotel with lovely extra interior design features which enhanced it. Getting into town is not too bad when you find the right path so really good to be so close to Funchal centre but far enough away. We will return to Madeira but would look to try and get a room with a bigger balcony!
