We've recently returned from a relaxing 11 night stay at The Cliff.
The hotel is quite large however is spread over different areas so it doesn't feel too big.
In the day, we would use the sunbeds by the spa pool which had super comfy sunbeds with a stunning view over the sea and bonus of a heated swimming pool. There is a larger pool on the lower level which also has a platform where you can also jump into the sea - under the careful eye of the lifeguard as the sea can get a bit rough!
The bedrooms are a great size with simply the largest bed we have ever slept in. The rooms are cleaned to an incredibly high standard with the added bonus of evening turn down service. Our room was 'city view' as we aren't to precious about a sea view but this also meant our balcony held two sunbeds on there which I'm not sure you get in other rooms.
Breakfasts were lovely and the super helpful staff were accommodating if you wanted to sit outside, there was loads of choice including omelettes etc.
We went to AVISTA one evening which was probably one for nicest meals we have EVER had, so we would 100% recommend booking via hotel reception. A few nights we also ate in The Cliff Bar as we wouldn't always fancy a full 3 course meal elsewhere, the food is incredible and of a really high standard. Again staff were brilliant. The Cliff Bar also had evening entertainment, we are not normally fans of 'hotel entertainment' however this is really tasteful so we did enjoy sitting, listening to the music with cocktails, wine etc !
There are small supermarkets nearby if you want to grab bottled water etc plus snacks.
We would definitely go back to this hotel and 100% recommend it.

Fantastic hotel
Loved everything about The Cliff Bay, room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The Rose Garden restaurant serves delicious food with great service. Pool areas are well maintained and relaxing. Good location, 20 ish minute walk into Funchal. Can't wait to return!
Amazing hotel
stayed here before a wedding Absolutely loved it, staff were friendly and helpful..rooms were delightful. the gym facilities and restaurants were excellent...we had an amazing catch of the day poolside with fresh salad..it was devine. jumping in the sea and swimmkng with the fish was a highlight of the trip. we'll deffo be back to madiera and we'll be defgo staying at cliff bay!

This hotel is incredible, the facilities are top and over all the service of the friendly team is outstanding. highly recommend!
