We stayed at the Savoy Palace for three nights at the end of a multi-stop trip around Madeira, as a family of four with two young children. Our Junior Suite worked well for us, and was a beautiful and large room. We loved the snacks on arrival, including fun options for the children, and the hotel was very helpful in organising various surprises that my husband ordered for my 40th birthday while we were there, as well as giving us a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and a small birthday cake on the day.
The hotel itself is lovely, modern and light and with everything you could want for a relaxing and refined stay. Breakfast was fantastic, the pool area is beautiful (a little chilly for our stay in November but we did swim anyway) and the wider outdoor areas lovely. We visited one various bars and restaurants, all of which were great and very good with our young children, despite us being a very different age group to the majority of the clientele. There was also a kids club room which you could use independently if not attending the club, which our toddler enjoyed. I made use of the spa facilities which were lovely.
All in all an excellent stay. Our only issue was when we came to leave, there was a very long wait time for help in bringing our cases down from our room, and when we asked about this we were repeatedly told someone was on the way, despite no one arriving for around 40/45 minutes. Additionally, we had a hire car which we parked in the (very convenient) underground car park, but were told that the staff could not bring the suitcases to the car park. Given we had two small children and a buggy in addition to plenty of luggage, this was not at all helpful - however eventually a very kind member of staff did bring the cases down via a staff lift to help us out. This process aside, we had a lovely stay.
Great 5 star hotel with incredible spa. Can’t go wrong!
Excellent hotel. We had a garden room that was spacious, modern and very comfortable. The restaurants were varied, portions plentiful, tasty and reasonably priced. Bars had a great selection of drinks with several happy hours ranging from discounts to 241. The pool area was again spacious and relaxed with the roof top pool : bar being a welcome retreat and a cool night cap. The hotel is well placed providing easy access to the old town and the surrounding area. Highly recommend this hotel and would return!
Fresh modern rooms, nice staff, good breakfast, relaxing roof top pool and a pretty good gym.
Great Location and facilities. Let down unfortunately by very inconsistent service. It’s really frustrating as it could be an excellent hotel.
