The perfect place to go in or out of season. No sandy beaches, but plenty of good weather, good choice of restaurants and walking. If you want to walk, take some sensible shoes, the roads and pavements are cobbled and need careful negotiating, but worth it. Try the vanilla ice cream with a shot of Madeira wine poured over, delicous.
Location of hotel is excellent near the sea, the marina, the cable car and the Old Town. Rooms are super comfortable with additional amenities like hob, fridge, cooking equipment, cutlery etc. The staff are very friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble eg providing toiletries, booking taxis, tuktuks etc The atmosphere is very welcoming with lots of choice of amenities and variety of food, drink and entertainment.
