The Pestana Ocean Bay directly overlooks the ocean in a peaceful location just three miles to the west of Funchal. Classified as a beach resort, the hotel is on the beautiful bay of Praia Formosa backed by cliffs. The tranquil gardens contain a spectacularly situated pool area and give direct access to the sea.

Very clean and friendly hotel. Free bus shuttle into town twice a day. Towels provided for the pool. Would recommend visiting.

Beautyfull holiday time specially with the barmen Mohammad ISLAM and Masud RANA who are 2 sympathic gently and smiling men. Thanks to their respectfull attitude I was feeling nice all day long.
Manuela made the restaurant the best part of our stay
Five nights all-inclusive with our two children, 10 and 7. The resort does the basics well for a family: sea-view room, several pools, the beach promenade right outside the door.
What we will remember is Manuela Garanito in the restaurant. From the first meal she looked after our kids, walked them through the buffet, steered them towards food they would actually eat, and noticed anything else we needed before we asked. By the second day they were looking for her by name. She was attentive, funny with the children and kind to all four of us.

Fantastic staff
Relaxing, wonderful 2 weeks at thos Hotel. The food was excellent and so was our room. The view across the ocean is fabulous. Most of all the staff are exceptional and did everything possible to make us feel welcome and to make our holiday special. Can't wait to return.
Wonderful stay at a wonderful island
We had a wonderful stay at the hotel and truly felt at home. What made our experience so special was the staff, who were incredibly kind, professional, and always made us feel welcome and comfortable. I would especially like to thank Manuela Garanito from the restaurant. Her passion and dedication for the guests were evident in everything she did. She is doing an outstanding job together with her colleagues, and this is a real asset to the team.
