This modern hotel is located in a prime location on Estrada Monumental and offers a relaxing atmosphere with avant-garde interiors and a modern style design. The attractive grounds feature a garden and spectacular views of the Atlantic. Guests will find restaurants and shops only 500 m from the hotel, while nightclubs are 3 km away, as is the centre of Funchal. The promenade, located next to the hotel, features views of one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe, Cape Girão.
You will find the ''Clean & Safe'' Seal certification duly implemented in our hotel, together with a protocol with measures designed to minimize risks of contagion.
The pool was great and nice gardens very clean and inviting. Rooms had balcony with a sea view which was nice to sit out after excursions. Staff was so friendly and wanted you to have a wonderful stay. Close to the mall to the right and to the left exiting off the 5th floor was an excellent brazilian steak house next to another supermarket. It was very affordable and the best steak you could hope to eat. Pina colada was excellent as well. The tours pick you up in front of the reception. We really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast buffet at the Golden residence was excellent as well. On arrival we were checked in and could not access the room right away but they held our luggage and started our stay with ice cream, how very nice!
Family and adult children on bed and breakfast. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Only thing to consider as a downside is that for those with mobility issues, it may be tricky exploring the immediate area and the rooms and facilities are in 3 buildings. It wasn’t a problem for us. It was exceptionally clean. The staff were lovely. Especially Omir. Staff on pool bar great too. Daytime snacks at pool bar great and all drinks and food reasonably priced. Pool area, sunbeds very clean, always got beds. And the view and sunsets were outstanding. Had the BBQ one evening…this was brilliant. Loved it. Only a summer, in season event. Spa area was nice too although steam room wasn’t working. Beds were comfy. Aircon wasn’t great. Very close to rocky beach. Take water shoes. Volcanic pools very close too although we didn’t do this…next time! Turn right out of reception and a little up the road is a lovely little restaurant. Highly recommend. The pizza place and sea food restaurant down the hill the other way out of reception were also good. Could walk into Funchal within an hour. Also bird scooter! Although the scooters were not well maintained and we had a nightmare with parking them and getting overcharged. This is nothing to do with the hotel. Shopping mall within 10 minute walk and had everything in there…Forum Madeira. Also another good supermarket on that main road within 10 mins walk. Bus stops right outside the hotel. My kids are over 18. I’m not sure how suitable it would have been for them when they were younger as no balls and inflatables. It was quite grown up and chilled! Some younger children. Beautiful hotel. Fabulous holiday.
We were a 10 guest group spread across 2 apartments and a double room. Apartments were amaizing and looked great. Unfortunately 1 of the apartments had a dead lizard in it which looked like it had been there for sometime and also had a problem with ants. The hotel its self was nice and the majority of the staff were great and friendly. I assume the lady in a dress and heals with a clip board was the manager and had NO people skills at all. She complained to some guests that she didn't want there own beach towels at the pool side. !! This lady was walking round the pool in heals with an air of authority. The pool area does not have any toilet facilities and you have to walk through the restaurant to access the ones there. Not ideal but the manager also complained the people where doing this!! What r u supposed to do ! Really not called for. The pool its self was neglected. The edges had tiles missing and sharp areas. Not ideal for kids and . The lift in block B broke several times on our stay. The breakfast however was superb . There was a large verity of foods to choose from. All in all it's would reccomed the hotel but as a 3 star not a 4.
A wonderful week with splendid food served by an excellent staff' Reception was extremely helpful and the location was perfect. We took some terrific tours which left from the hotel. We were so impressed that we are returning next year!
My fiancé and I have just returned from staying at Golden Residence for 7 days, would absolutely stay here again! We stayed in building C, the room was lovely and clean, maybe slightly outdated but not terrible. The balcony was nice looking out to the sea. The reception team were always lovely and helpful, check-in was easy and the team even sent a bottle up to our room for my birthday! They also give you tokens for towels to use which is a great idea. We did B&B, the breakfast was buffet style and not bad at all, lots of choice although it does get busy. We never had trouble getting a sunbed which was fantastic, never any issues with people reserving beds either. There is only 1 outdoor pool and 2 indoor so may be busier during peak times.
Overall we would definitely stay here again, it’s close to some lovely restaurants and beach bars and only a €8-10 Bolt into the centre of Funchal. I think it would be a good idea to give guests a little map of the buildings/area on arrival as it can take a day or two to familiarise yourself.
