Location of this hotel is good for local transport The hotel provides a relaxing vibe and the staff are abundant and helpful Being a suite hotel provides plenty of space in the rooms I espicaly found the pool towel service excellent and this provided a good choice of sunbeds at all times The houskeeping staff are sparkeling wizards Thank you all at Girassol
We booked a week Bed and Breakfast at this hotel. The breakfast menu was lovely and included every type of breakfast food from full English, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, cold meats and several types of bread. The hotel itself is lovely and modern and the staff were friendly especially the bar staff. A great pool bar at one of the two pools serving food 9am-6pm. There is entertainment on in the main bar area which includes an outside seating area but is not on every night. Now for the only two downsides to the hotel which explains my 4 star rating - the hotel is located on the main strip of Funchal and the road is constantly busy with cars, scooters and buses day and night and while there are a lot of bar/restaurants near the hotel, at times it was like eating a meal sat on the M6 at rush hour - so hard to hear what people you are with are saying! The only other fault I can find with the hotel is that their WiFi is very spotty - we were sometimes out back on 5G which again wasn’t the best. Overlooking the two downsides we enjoyed Funchal and would definitely go again but maybe to a quieter resort.
This is not 4 star it is more likely 3 star. Bathrooms need updating- shower over a small bath very dated. Food is adequate but not much variety. Ok if you like chips and rice. Don’t expect much in the way of entertainment. Staff very friendly and it’s clean and a good location.
Just got back from a 9 night stay and again the Hotel Girassol didn't disappoint!!!
This was our 2nd time staying here and it definitely won't be our last.
First- the food was fabulous...even better than last time ...All hot ...lots of choice...and very tasty!! Compliments to the chef!!
Bar staff at both the pool bar and lounge bar, extremely friendly.
The young lad sorting towels (sorry didn't get his name) was so friendly and welcoming.
3 of us even had a Back massage in the spa and Leonora was Amazing!!!!
The Hotel Girassol is in a great location and the room are very spacious and clean ...Maid service was excellent. Great views from the 6th floor...
Yes there is building work around the Hotel, however we were warned about that and it didn't spoil our fabulous holiday.
Love the music around the pool ...we always went to the Adult pool ...it was extremely chilled, just what we wanted !!!!
