As Madeira’s first All Inclusive resort, Enotel Lido offers a privileged location in the island’s capital and features a relaxing spa. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it is close to public bus stops, and guests can also enjoy a pleasant stroll along the seafront promenade.
We had an enjoyable week at Enotel Lido. 2 adults, a 3 year old and a 5 month old.
Food is nice enough without being amazing. Never made it to any of the speciality restaurants as couldn't book and queues were too big to wait with the kids. All speciality restaurants are a set menu, not a la carte. Tepenyaki is over 12s which we didn't know before booking either.
Good selection of drinks, had to queue most of the time and no table service.
Rooms were clean, although beds are like concrete.
Pool area in mayhem, almost zoo like. Too many sun loungers and not enough space between them. Struggled to walk to the pool without having to dodge umbrellas. Couldn't get the pram anywhere due to lack of space.
Really lovely hotel not too busy great clientele not quite five star but a few tweaks would get it there. Some areas looking a little tired for example of carpet looks like it needs a change. One of the receptionist was very very helpful a lady with orange red hair fantastic. The other reception staff weren’t quite as friendly. Most of the bar staff were really really fantastic however there was one. I think he was called Dennis who worked in the piano bar who was lacking in charm shall we say? One bar Man was also quite rude to our 11 year-old son after he politely requested a sparkling water.
This was our first time in Funchal and what a lovely hotel to stay in its very clean rooms are spotless and all the staff from reception to restuarant to cleaners are all friendly and helpfull. The food was excellent great choices and very well presented it’s one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in it’s situated just on the edge of Funchal town with bus routes in or a 15 min walk into town I would definately stay at the Enotel Lido hotel again a lovely stay and great views
Lot of research went into booking this hotel couple of negatives pool bed could be organised a bit more for navigating between cramped in, as you will always get a bed. Buffet in Atlantinco restaurant is tiny queue only for 5 mins for pasta and tray food.
Positives everything else seriously cannot fault the rest of the hotel, the clientele is mixed of couple of families but at a rated 5 star you wont get your usual un pleasant children and parents are very polite, even couples are nice and appreciative of well behaved children.
Its appox a lot of english in the hotel others being mixed europeans whom are fine to mix with majority.
Some of the short cuts
Take lifts behind piano bar They have rules on pool times and inflatables but mostly ignored Drinks are branded as uk so dont expect not to get tipsy Staff are really nice engage in conversation say hello goes along way Fridge is topped up with soft drinks daily Spa is doing asda prices at present its worth booking a treatment Gym is pants a few free weights do aqua gym or go for a walk up a hill Bed absolutely rock hard good for your posture
Anyway hope you found this review helpful we are coming for 2 weeks next year as we are really impressed and felt at home.
PS do ronnies museum, cable car and shufty in the wicker basket you will love it
See you next year
Very positive experience staying here for 10 nights as a party of 7. Positives we found the staff, excellent as a whole, in particular Claudio (I think this is spelt correctly, lovely waiter from Angola) he was superb. Drinks selection excellent, we enjoyed all restaurant, we ate in them all. Some of our party couldn’t eat in the Asian as it didn’t cater for dietary requirement, but this was my favourite and excellent experience. A big plus, was all the other guests were very nice, no sunbed wars! Only improvements I would make is the sunbeds are quite close together, food labels in main restaurant could be clearer and easier to read if had allergies. Would definitely recommend, would come again. The island is beautiful. Top class hotel.
