Reid’s afternoon tea- lacked the special occasion lustre .
Service was intermittent in attentiveness , although good when present.
Food was ok , not the best. We have had afternoon tea’s at F&M , Savoy and Ivy. Any would surpass this. We couldn’t benefit from the view as although a couple , we were seated on a table for four at the back.
You get 90 minutes to eat which is not enough time , particularly as we had to have our tea order replaced when the order was mixed up and waited for a service for a refill. The staff are not subtle in expressing it is time for you to leave (although pressed upon by stuffy management) Overall disappointed.
Judge by your own experience but our tip would be, save your money and use for a friendlier Madeira outing!
Love the island and shall return , unfortunately not to here for tea.
First class experience all the way both for the island and for the venue and staff at Reid's. Can't recommend more highly.
Beautiful would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an exceptional experience. The staff and was wonderful and the food was delicious.
This is a fantastic hotel and one we have visited last year, the service is everything you expect and more from this hotel group. We look forward to exploring more of the Belmond hotels.
A Beautiful Hotel
What a beautiful hotel. It was expensive, but we felt it was worth it. The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere and a fantastic setting, and you can really see why it has such a great reputation.
I’m sure there are better hotels in the world, but I have never stayed in one! The staff were all fantastic, very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfasts were superb, with a great choice, and lunch at the poolside restaurant was also very good.
We also visited Villa Cipriani, which has a wonderful position overlooking the hotel. The service was great, but we thought the food was just OK.
The meal we had at Brisa do Mar, however, was outstanding.
Overall, we had a fantastic stay at Reid’s Palace and would love to return.
