Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve

Coming to the end of 5day stay hotel is lovely rooms and beds large and comfortable very clean . Breakfast probably one of best I ever stayed . Not much on beach most restaurants and bars are at marina which is lovely 10 min walk. For nice lunch there is lovely little cafe bellisimo just past hotel. Dunn beds not comfortable we brought pillow’s from room to lie on. Highly recommend if you want a relaxing few days. If you want room cleaned do not put sign on handle.

We used to stay here when originally called the Don Pedro. Been closed at least a couple of years whilst being totally renovated and only opened as Hyatt Regency earlier this year. Rooms very spacious with plenty rooms for storage. Safety box also in room plus bottled water , tea and coffee facilities all free of charge and replenished daily. Breakfast really good, impressed with the egg station where you place order and brought to your table so no hanging around waiting and getting in other diners way! All other breakfast items self service with a huge range of items to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Pool area large with numerous sun beds always some available so no need to rush out at 9am when pool area opens to claim beds. The landscaped gardens also a huge improvement than previous hotel. All staff very good and courteous . It was my wife’s birthday during our stay and we were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of fizz , chocolate cake and card waiting for her in room on our return in the afternoon, a great touch and thank you very much Hyatt Regency staff!! Whilst I expected it to be busy mid August, I wasn't quite prepared for the number of people in Vilamoura walking up and down the Marina! Our room wasn't ready at the Hyatt when we arrived and they kept us waiting right up until 3pm, even though they promised to keep chasing it. Room was nice but a bit small as was the bathroom. However the shower was great. The room was very clean and we had maid service every day with clean towels whether you hung them up or not and a large bottle of water provided. There was nowhere on the balcony or in the bathroom to dry swimwear or anything else. The lifts were a bit hit and miss especially at busy times such as breakfast and we found it quicker to walk the 6 floors both up and down. The pool area is very nice with plenty of beds although they are all in rows quite close together. There is however a severe lack of umbrellas and people were putting towels down as early as 8.30am. The pool bar is okay but service is a bit slow and the menu a bit lacking, especially for children as someone pointed out. Breakfast was disappointing. Although there is plenty of choice, the hot section is luke warm and the scrambled egg is powdered. They refuse to make fresh scrambled eggs and spend all their time making omelets which are then placed under a heat lamp and left to cool down and go very rubbery. Fried eggs were also pre made and taken out of a cooler and placed over a warming tray, although this never heated them up fully. Staff are very friendly and helpful but overall not what I expected from a 4 star hotel
