This excellent and luxurious “pousada” sits in a historical and interesting building that was erected on the sixteenth century and served as a convent. The property is conveniently positioned in the historical city centre, within easy reach from the main important sightseeing points of interest such as Santa Maria Church, a few steps away. Staying at this accommodation option will always be a great experience, as some of the bedrooms have been completely refurbished from cells, exuding a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. Excellent hotel. Peaceful, interesting, very friendly, efficient and helpful staff. Great breakfast and dinner. A very relaxing experience.
I hate to post this because I do not want to find the Pousada fully booked when I next want to go! Anyway, what a wonderful place to stay, I highly rewcommend this as the best place to stay in the area. it has historical significance and is totally charming. It is quiet and serene. The staff are unobstrusive but friendly and attentive. I had an absolutely fabulous time with no complaints at all.

Excellent exprience-renovated convent that was so pretty. Employees were wonderful, very helpful and personable. Loved the fruit infused water everyday and service at the pool. The pool was such a treat to come back to after a hot day out in town. Very peaceful, no music, no kids just people reading real books. 5minute walk down to the river, close to shops and restaurants. Had our best steak and golden bream dinners at O Costelo-very close to the hotel. Our room was a nice size, soft sheets, large bathroom -all very clean. After we arrived they delivered a little basket of fruit which was a nice surprise.
Lovely in every way. Spotlessly clean. We had the basic room which was plenty big enough for 2, nothing fancy but just right. Water replaced every other day. Bath/ shower drained extremely slowly but it is an old building! Lovely staff, peaceful pool with plenty of loungers. Clientele when we started was mostly elderly.
