This hotel enjoys a fantastic location, at the west of Praia da Rocha, overlooking the magnificent Três Castelos Beach. The sunset over Ponta da Piedade, across Lagos bay, is a daily scenery not to be missed, always unique and stunning. There is a supermarket, as well as bars and restaurants only 100 metres from the hotel. Only a pedestrian walk stands between this hotel and the beach. The hotel is 500 metres from the centre of the fantastic Praia da Rocha, the most famous beach in the Algarve.
Relax at the full-service spa, where you can enjoy massages. This hotel also features complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and a television in a common area.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Had a great stay. Staff is very friendly. It's a basic hotel but is very clean
Lovely hotel, good location, slightly dated but clean with lovely friendly, helpful staff, nice pool and a great varied breakfast selection from eggs and bacon etc to warm pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc. Only negative comment I have about the hotel really is that the mattresses are rock hard and the pillows aren’t great.
Some Tips: Praia de Roche is not the place for anyone with mobility issues, particularly if you like the beach! As someone with a Mum with mobility issues, I was very aware that this is not somewhere she could holiday. I don’t think it’s particularly clear that the beaches (albeit beautiful) can only be accessed by going down (and of course back up!) a large flight of stairs (approx. 80-100). This isn’t just from Hotel Luar but right the way along Praia de Roche (from what we saw). We did a little day trip to Alvor (not far at all and only 3.50€ in an Uber) and the beach there is much more accessible, on the flat and just as beautiful (if not more so). Alvor town is also very pretty.
There IS. a hairdryer in the bathroom at Hotel Luar, although not listed in the description so my daughter squished hers into our suitcase. It’s not great, but if you’re struggling for suitcase space, there is one there.
Despite there being ample floor space, there aren’t enough sunbeds around the pool. Take a lilo!
Finally, try the Cataplana at a nearby restaurant 🤩👌
It was our first time in Portugal and we loved it, the hotel luar is excellent nice and clean maid goes in everyday, the breakfast is good everything you need the pool bar and outside space is really nice all the staff are friendly, we met lots of people that go every year we can't wait to go back next September, the only complaint is the beds are very hard and if you got a front facing room as we did it's so noisy from the traffic at night but apart from that we loved every minute.
Great hotel, friendly staff and a brilliant location right next to the beach and plenty of restaurants. Basic room but clean and a great shower. Breakfast was lovely and food at the bar was also great. Could do with a few more sunbeds around the pool.
We have visited Luar Hotel for 8 years on & off now. This year was absolutely fabulous, our room & view was stunning. The breakfast was lovely. The service at breakfast & at the bar & by the pool was excellent, such lovely staff, nothing was a problem. The team behind the counter are good.. could be a tad more friendly. The location is absolutely brilliant, top of the strip, just across the street from the sea. The hotel is spotless & housekeeping are absolutely excellent & so through, they are a credit to this hotel. The food by the pool is good. Cocktails lovely! So the best recommendation I can give is we have booked again for next year. It's a fabulous hotel. Looking forward to returning.
