Hotel City of Olhão is a 3 star hotel located in Olhão, Algarve, just 15 minutes drive from Faro International Airport. Its location takes you to the heart of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, its fauna and flora, to the incredible shoals and golden beaches. Situated in the city center, the hotel is very close to various points of interest. To get to the bus station takes less than a minute walk to the train station and 2 minutes to the historical center and docks just 10 minutes. Olhão is currently considered the gastronomic jewel of the Algarve and very close are some of the most incredible and least crowded beaches of southern Portugal. Recently opened, specifically in August 2016, the Hotel Cidade de Olhão offers a high quality accommodation at affordable rates with two different types, studios and twin or double rooms as well as a pool and outdoor lounge, supported by a small bar and changing rooms . All rooms have private bathroom, air conditioning, TV, high speed Wi-Fi and high end amenities of the prestigious brand Prija. There is a new color in town, and is blue. Ria Formosa and Islands Olhão has an easy and direct connection to the Ria Formosa, allowing you to quickly reach its various beaches. You can take the boat and enjoy two of the best kept secrets of the Algarve: the island of Armona and the island of Culatra. Finally, Olhão is at the heart of the Algarve, facilitating any movement within the region.

5*. Highly recommend this hotel.
We stayed here for 5 days/4 nights in August. Arrived at 2.30pm and greeted warmly by reception. We were able to check into our room immediately (instead of 3.00pm). We were delighted with our room. An enormous bed, which was super comfy. Spotless room and bathroom, with mini fridge.
Small supermarket very close by, which stocked everything we needed.
The pool area was so much better than expected (and better than the photos show). Lots of sunbeds. We didn’t have problems getting a bed, even when it was busy.
We had no issue with noise. We found the hotel so quiet.
The reception sell a small selection of drinks, which were reasonably priced. They were also happy to refill our water bottles throughout the day. The hotel also provided towels for the pool.
We paid for breakfast and this was well worth it. Lots of fresh fruit, cereals, bread, cheese, meat, yoghurt, pastries. Juice and coffee machine and also scrambled eggs and bacon. The food was restocked regularly and the hotel were happy to provide dairy free milk.
The staff were so lovely. The hotel is constantly being cleaned. Housekeeping was great. Fresh towels each day.
We got a taxi from the airport which was easy and cheap. About £7.
The hotel is a ten minute walk from the harbour where there are so many lovely restaurants and bars. The food and drink were so reasonably priced. The walk there and back felt safe, even late at night.
Some reviews mention cobbled streets. We were expecting the walk being tricky. It is flat and easy. At times, the ground can feel a little slippery, but it really wasn’t a problem.
Not only will we return to this area, but we will also certainly return to this hotel. It ticked every box for us and we highly recommend staying here.
Excellent & great value for the price
Very clean & well equipped rooms. All staff go out of their way & beyond to cater for all needs. Lovely outside area with pool, again spotlessly clean.Breakfast extra but really good value for 10€. Location good with a 5 minute walk to centre, restaurants & shops, & a further 5 mins to the front. Fish Market, bars & restaurants
Miss it already
A wonderful base for my Olhao adventure. Simple, perfect, clean and friendly. Everyone on reception was fantastic - no request too small or big. Not a big touristy hotel so the pool area was never overcrowded. Sun there all day. Room and facilities fabulous and continental breakfast more than adequate. Out of town a little so local restaurants and supermarkets have not hyped their prices for tourists. Lots of little snack bars around, lovely architecture and a genuine Portuguese feel in the neighbourhood. What a lovely home from home to return to at the end of the day.

Fabulous little hotel
This small basic hotel has everything! We could not fault it, spotlessly clean, rooms lovely, huge beds, great shower, kettle, cups & glasses, hairdryer. We were there to see the area, not stay in the hotel all the time. Lovely warm pool, towels provided. Breakfast good, lovely little dining area. The staff are EXCEPTIONAL, absolutely nothing too much trouble. I had a fall 3 days into holiday, they could not have done more for me. Thank you all so much. Location was good, out of the hustle and bustle, buses outside train 5mins away (with ID seniors get half fare) Several guests were returning we certainly will. Highly recommend!! Susan and Heather. Very comfortable, great value for money
Excellent small hotel close to the railway station and about a 10 minute walk to the waterfront.
Rooms simply furnished but smart and good quality. ( includes free use of a safe) Bathroom small but again well equipped.
Breakfast relatively limited choice but again good quality and well presented (the scrambled eggs were probably the best I've had at a hotel of this size - no yellow coloured rubber here!!
