The beautiful town of Praia da Luz is less than 10 minutes by car. Faro International Airport is about 90 km away. Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Belmar Resort & Spa has a great location and very good facilities, friendly staff, and the overall setting is very nice. However, for a 4-star property in Portugal, the service felt more limited than expected and lacked several small touches that comparable hotels often provide.
For example, complimentary filtered water was limited to a single bottle on arrival, rather than being replenished during the stay. Face tissues were not provided in the room, and there was no assistance provided upon request with parking or luggage. Daily room service limited to 1 visit for 4 night stay.
Minor details, but these basic guest-service extras were all provided in 4 other 4 star hotels in Porto, Lisbon, Douro Valley, along with small gifts of pasties and wine.
Amazing stay at Belmar. 1br apartment with an amazing view on the pool and beach. I just wish they had a bigger bar and additional shops.
We loved this place! They organized a very special welcome when we arrived for my daughter who had just graduated. Beautiful property and the apts are so spacious and clean. We felt very safe and the staff was lovely. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Overall nice and quiet resort. It's a little outdated and not everything works perfectly in the spa area. The showers for the apartments were hand held faucets and not what you would normally expect from a shower. The apartments were huge. I had a 2 bed 2 bath apartment that came with a full kitchen, dishwasher, clothes washing machine, and 3 patios. You can spend a week there and have everything you need. The hotel is also just a short walk to the beach. Parking is easy, but if you don't want to drive, ubers to town are only 5-8 euros a trip. AC worked great. Overall, it feels very close to a standard American resort besides the limited cleaning. It's a good value for the price.
We had a great experience at Belmar. The room was well equipped, and very clean. We enjoyed the fitness center, spa facility and pool areas. My only recommendations are to fix the Jacuzzi jets, only 4 out of 14 were working. Also our ocean view balcony was beautiful, but the railing was so high you couldn't see the ocean when you sat down. Finally 10 am check out is a little early, if you can't move it back at least offer late check out. Overall a wonderful time, we'd love to come back.
