The marina in front of the hotel offers boat access to Ria Formosa Natural Park. The sandy beaches of Deserta, Farol and Culatra can be reached with 25 minutes by ferry. Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We stayed here with family for a wedding in Faro. Our room was on 2nd floor facing the marina. Spacious. A little noisy from traffic but if windows closed, would not hear. Restaurant on 4th floor is amazing. A really great variety to choose from at breakfast and lovely omelettes cooked fresh by friendly chef. Fruit, croissants, cereals all really fresh. Staff lovely. You can eat outside on rooftop balcony overlooking Faro also. Quite expensive to eat or drink in restaurant at night but plenty of choice around locally. Free shuttle bus to beach but you must book beforehand. Would definitely recommend this lovely hotel in a fantastic location.
This is undoubtedly the best Hotel in Faro, outstanding service, elegant and comfortable rooms, rooftop pool and the B-Heaven bar view of the harbour... Just amazing, do not miss it!
The roof top bar was amazing with stunning views across the lagoon. The choice at breakfast was superb with attentive staff always ready to help. The room (and bathroom) was large, well furnished and the gift of a water bottle (and complimentary free water in the fridge) was much appreciated.
A pleasant 3 night stay at the Occidental Faro. The hotel is well located in Faro Old Town, with loads of options for bars and restaurants nearby. Despite the tired exterior, the hotel is absolutely stunning inside. The rooftop bar area was the highlight of this hotel with beautiful views over the Marina for breakfast.
Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold, we loved the freshly made Omelettes and the option of a Mimosa was a nice touch. Rooms a decent size, finished to a high standard, comfy beds and were well equipped with a hairdryer, toiletries, steamer and USB-C charging points either side of the bed. Only improvement here would be there are no drawers to put underwear.
We enjoyed the pool however the area is definitely in need of some more sunbeds. This wasn’t an issue for us as we got up early most mornings but others struggled to get beds every day.
As nice as the rooftop bar is, it is very overpriced. Due to this, we did not eat in the bar, and opted to go out for drinks, paying €2 for a beer in a bar next to the hotel.
All the staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely return.
Nice stay. Hotel is in a great location with easy access to transport links and all areas of interest in the town. The hotel has all the facilities a guest would wish for during a short stay. Food is good and a varied selection of good quality hot and cold for breakfast. Rooms are fine but offer no views of the town. Mine was a suite at an elevated price but only afforded a view of an adjacent building wall. Adequately spaced room and bathroom was the highlight. Rooftop bar area is the overall highlight of the hotel with a good vibe and great views. Overall a nice hotel and one I would be comfortable to recommend to others
