Tucked into a cliffside overlooking the glistening Atlantic Ocean, the hotel is a jewel in the Algarve's crown. This resort is a 10-minute walk from the beach, and guests can explore more of this stunning stretch of coastline on the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail. It is 54 km from Faro International Airport and public transport is available just a few steps from the hotel.
Visitors will be spoilt for choice by the bars and restaurants and experience fine drinks and authentic local cuisine in one of the restaurants, with freshly caught seafood a menu highlight.
Whether guests want to pamper theirself with an organic seaweed treatment in the spa, invigorate theirself in the pool, dive beneath the ocean or organise a game of golf, the hotel's incredible facilities and staff will make theirself stay a memorable one.
The hotel has several spacious rooms on different floors, with most offering a balcony or terrace to experience the spectacular views. Decorated in elegant colors to represent the sea, the rooms are equipped with modern amenities including an electronic safe, video on demand, a Nespresso coffee machine, tea facilities and complementary WiFi, to ensure a home experience stay.
Relax at the full-service spa, where you can enjoy massages. If you're looking for recreational opportunities, you'll find an outdoor pool, an indoor pool and a hot tub. Additional amenities at this Mediterranean hotel include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and shopping on-site.
Overall a poor experience at this hotel. To provide some positive balance the view is truly outstanding, the location is excellent and there are pockets of great staff namely the TukTuk driver (which in itself is a great amenity). The SkyBar is also a cool space; but in many aspects it just wasn't the stay we were expecting for the price paid.
Room Allocated a room 20 metres from a children's playground as 2 adults - I understand this is luck of the draw and it is peak summer but I can't accept that the beds were 2 singles strapped together by bedding and 1 bedside table. No colour or design touches, just plain white bedding as 2 separate duvets. At peak summer pricing that is truly ridiculous. Also only 1 power point which wasn't in the middle of the bed and generally tired looking furniture.
Service Check In was late and then we were not told any information including about credits we had available as a result of booking directly.
Generally service was too slow, it always felt like you were hunting down staff or having to go to the bar to get payment taken, definitely not the effortless level of service expected in a 5* hotel.
Restaurants I would advise to get out of the hotel, we had some truly great food in local restaurants close to the hotel. But the food we had in the hotel was overpriced and basic, we had to complain about Calamari which was €25 (which I never normally do). It was removed from the bill in fairness and after our bad experience we only had 2 further lunches in the hotel. Maybe unlucky...
Amenities Sunbeds awful - metal framed and no sense of luxury Wooded area around the pool very tired Lots of areas requiring renovation
From reading other reviews I want to comment on the hotel response which was none. We raised our room concerns to reception and were told that other available rooms were in the courtyard and are "probably worse as they look over one another." I also raised the fact we were not told we had a credit on our account at check-in, again no justification or apology. On check-out we were of course asked how our stay was and raised the same points again and were told that they would be raised to management. At the time of writing no comment....
Overall I just don't see it as a 5* hotel and many of the positive reviews raise similar points, I guess the view is just that good that they forgave the rest.
We had a fabulous stay here, the views were just incredible , the staff made sure our family rooms were connected and the views from our rooms were breathtaking. The welcome treats and fresh water every day was wonderful, my kids especially loved the slippers, puzzles and sun hats! The staff were amazing and the pool side treats were always well received. We all loved the breakfast and the beautiful walking trails, the hotel was immaculate throughout for us , my kids loved the kids club, especially maria! Thank you for an unforgettable holiday x
Lovely vitamin C facial by Cātia at the Tivoli Spa. I would recommend, especially as a nice skin refresher at the end of your holiday
I rarely write reviews but felt the need to ensure no one else was catfished by this “5 star” resort. Please note that this is absolutely NOT a 5 or even a 4 star resort. The only thing that is spectacular about this resort is the view. The hotel is extremely outdated, wish smelly carpets in the halls, chipping paint and tiles all over, ruined furniture in room as well as dirty floors and showers in rooms. We even upgraded our room, and compared to all of the other 5 star resorts we stayed at in Portugal, my goodness were we ever disappointed. Staff was also extremely unfriendly at the front desk, and laughed you off when you made a concern. Pool area feels very dirty as well and NO BEACH as the photos show. Please spend your lovely vacation ANYWHERE else. We have never been so disappointed.
I don’t often write reviews but felt compelled to thank the lovely staff at The Tivoli Hotel, Carvoerio especially:
