Monte Santo Resort

First visit to Monte Santo and we would definately return.

For me the thing this place has going for it the most is the location to Carvoeiro town, which is. 10-15 minute walk down a hill. We did this walk a number of times a day and the town, the beach, the cliffside is stunning and the walk along the Algar Seco boardwalk.

We had a 2 bedroom Townhouse which was huge for the 4 of us, with 3 bathrooms.

Cons:

• limited utensils and baking pans in the kitchen. I had to ask for a chopping board and a tea towel which they did supply within 24 hours.
• we had problems with the air conditioning and despite sending staff to look at this they were unable to fix it and supplied us with 3 fans.
• temperature and dials missing off the cooler but not the end of the world
• there is some wear and tear around the main pool - rust, nails and broken tiles
• the gym is quite basic but we still used this

Pro’s: -10/10 location - short walk to the beautiful town for lots of restaurants, shops, beautiful beach, ice cream parlours and walks

• loved having the big pool but also a little

Pool by our townhouse

• indoor pool was great for wetter days
• staff are lovely and very helpful
• quiet resort which was what we wanted
• supermarkets close by for

Self catering option (we did self catering)

• amazing waterpark 15 mins away

I would agree with other reviews this is a 4 star resort, and definately some improvements needed but we loved this stay, love Carvoeiro and planning to return.

So where to start. We arrived really late and the lady on the reception made us feel very welcome. We went straight to bed as super tired. In the morning we realsied there was an issue with the washing machine. A key thing when on holiday with 2 kids..the maintenance person was friendly and suggested the hotel wash our clothes. Id have been happy to do that however he proceeded to tell us clothes get washed at 40 and tumble dried. Well that would mean my clothes would have been shrunk. They offered to change appartments but our son was ill so asked to change a day later by then we were settled.

The appartment itself js lovely apart from it being designed for giant at 5 ft4 I opened one cupboard which pinged open and that was how it was left. Its stocked well but some deeper bowls would be good..few days into the hotel the shower head broke they said they would send someone to fix it but this wasnt done til the next day.

Cleaning was a bit hit and miss some days it was spotless and some days we were left with no toilet paper, tissues and no new towels. One day the cleaner took our wet towels out the bath and just hung them on tbe drier.

The pool is lovely and the foam party was a massive hit with our kids but I was shocked to see the two wooden bridges with nails coming out the bottom. The indoor pool was lovely and.made use of the sauna and steam room.but the jacuzzi looked very yellow and full of fluff not very inviting.

We had food from the bar menu by the pool have to say my salmon was spot on and the cool bar by the pool was super handy.

The pool always had loungers free and staff to get a parasol.

I think the hotel is reqlly good but attention to detail in some areas would be good. Would come back as its a nice hotel but broken bits should be fixed bit of a fix it tommorow attitude in some areas.
