Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Loved the W! This property is absolutely beautiful and immaculate. The staff was so nice. This was our first stop on a 3 week adventure, and it was the best place to recover from travel, get acclimated to Portugal and just take in the beauty of this part of the country. I would 100% book again. I loved this hotel and the grounds.

Stunning hotel, lovely walk through beautiful grounds with well manicured gardens lead to beach. Stayed in a very clean spacious superior king room overlooking the pool. Breakfast varied and excellent quality.
Lovely meal in Market Kitchen.
Only negative was Paper moon restaurant, though a lovely setting the food was poor and slow service.
Throughout the hotel the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
All in all a wonderful treat.
The deduction of a star is purely down to the location - as stated in my title. The beach "on-site" is awful and not worth going to. There is a gorgeous beach a 20 minute walk away so we did this every day with our teens. However, it's not a pleasant walk and is on a main road with several crossings, so this wouldn't be suitable for families with younger children. You could get Bolt (like an Uber) though, and these are very reasonable and have good availability.
We ate in the immediate area one night during our week and the restaurant was nice but then there's nowhere to go after that. We therefore got a Bolt into Albufeira "old-town" every night (which costs between 5-10 euros each way). My teenagers loved this but it's definitely not an area I'd wish to visit again.
Now for the positives!! The hotel is beautiful - the grounds are spotless, well laid out and the pool areas have sunbeds ANY time of the day. You don't feel on top of each other and there's pool bars at both. You can also help yourself to water - love this.
We didn't actually eat in the restaurant as we booked self-catering and our 2 bedroom apartment in the residences was like a villa. It is the best room we've ever stayed in and perfect for our older family. Two proper bedrooms - two gorgeous bathrooms and a fabulous kitchen/diner/living area. The hotel also placed a bed in the living area for us, which is great when we have an 18 year old boy and a 15 year old girl. The patio area was lovely too. We weren't lucky enough to have a sea-view but I enjoyed my breakfast on here every morning and my son enjoyed being able to complete his morning exercises in the garden area. It had a really private feel to it - perfect.
The staff we encountered were very pleasant and my husband and I enjoyed a drink in one of the bar areas every evening whilst waiting for our kids. The cocktail waitress made the perfect Hugo Spritz - highly recommend!
I wouldn't stay here again, purely due to the location, but if you're just wanting a very chilled break in the sun and happy to stay in the hotel (and don't like the beach) then look no further!
Our best hotel stay yet!
Having been loyal to the Marriott group hotels for the last 25 years, this has been our absolute best experience ever. The only negative was that we were only there for 3 days!
From the moment of check in to the point of check out it was truly excellent! The trip was a delayed celebration for my wife’s birthday. The hotel certainly provided a memorable trip!
Check in began with welcome drinks, including sparkling wine. As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium member I had requested an upgrade via the Nightly Upgrade Award scheme, we were upgraded to a 2 Bedroom Supreme Suite.
As we arrived a few hours before normal check in time, our room wasn’t ready, to us not a problem. We had come prepared to head out to the pool and Wet Deck for the afternoon. Our room account was set up so we could charge F&B at the pool to our account.
On arrival at our room in the early evening we were completely “WOWED” by the size of the 2 Bedroom Supreme Suite, it’s wrap-around balcony and facilities! Truly wonderful. Our bags were already in the room, and we were taken to our room by Clubcar from the lobby. To celebrate my wife’s belated Birthday there was a card, a cake & a bottle of wine. Along with welcome cards and messages for us both.
The suite was utter luxury, with so much space. Amazing sunset views, along with views of the ocean and the resort.
This W was more relaxed and chilled than say the W Barcelona, whilst there was music in the evening on the terrace it was more chilled.
For breakfast we ate at the Market Kitchen each morning which was excellent, with a table menu and items served at the table, in addition to the excellent buffet. Coffee, Juice & Mimosa’s served at the table. Sparkling Wine also available at the buffet.
Most days we had drinks and a light lunch at Sip’N’Wet pool bar, with excellent service.
One evening we ate the Vino restaurant which was excellent, with great sunset views from the terrace.
We also had some more snack style food one evening on the terrace at the W Lounge.
All in all a truly excellent stay, we will definitely return!
