TripAdvisor Review
Amazing Hotel in a great location! Clean and could not recommend highly enough.

What a fantastic 9 days we had! Vila Petra was located excellently. It was about a 5-10min walk from new town bars and restaurants, 15-20min walk down hill to Praia de Oura beach which is fantastic with watersports too which we loved. Download the Uber app to get taxi back though as all up hill. Uber app ver handy for trips to Slide and splash water park (€20 euro each way) to Old town (€4 euro each way). Taxis more expensive.

The Hotel itself was impeccable in every way. So clean and beautifully decorated throughout. Modern looking but still with that Portuguese feel. The rooms were a decent size and beds comfortable. Dishwasher, fridge/freezer Oven/Hob and microwave so ideal for cooking up a snack. Cleaners cleaned and made up rooms every day which was a real help. Changed towels every day too.

Day time entertainment team were so much fun and arranged poolside games like, darts/Molkki and Pétanque along with Water Polo and Aqua Gym/relax which was very popular. Didn’t do evening entertainment as went in to towns, except Karaoke, which was good fun. Special shoutouts to Roshan and Claudio of Bellux Entertainments.

The games room was just a pool table really so could definitely do more with that. One thing I would say negatively was, do not eat or drink at the hotel. The food was ok, but both the food and drinks were very expensive when you could get a Can/water at the hotel shop or local shops for a quarter of the price. We did this every day as it would have got really expensive. Ice creams ~€1.50 cheaper at the local shops or buy in bulk at Aldi. One thing I would recommend though was the Pins Colada cocktail! Worth every cent of the €7.50 😁 The Local Aldi, 5 min walk was definitely the way to stock up the shopping for the week. Bakery section with Doughnuts were amazing. A restaurant you must do is called ‘The Cockerel’ you have to book and can do so online. The food there is next level and only a 10min walk. In fact I could have gone there every night, the menu was amazing. Lamb shank was 👌 and the Cod was Obscenely good!

The general feel of the hotel was really nice and this was helped by the ‘no towels on sunbed’ policy which was great. They opened the pool at 9am and there was a steady flurry of people to get their subbed but no silly wake ups at 7am to get a sunbed. Pool shut at 7pm.

If you are looking for a top restaurant in Old town then go to ‘Alfredo’s’ Very nice food and great location in the busy winding streets.

Had a few groups making noise around early hours of the morning from outside streets but no more that can be expected. Just people having fun.

Added a photo of entertainment schedule too for reference.

Hotel amenities & all staff were 100%

First time stayers at Vila Petra, ideally located only a short car trip or longer walk to all amenities. Hotel was spotless and staff were all so friendly and polite.

Spent few days by the pool and the entertainment was excellent for all ages. Roshan & Claudio were brilliant at their job, highly energetic and inclusive of everyone around them. Kids gave their karaoke 10/10.

TripAdvisor Review
its a 4 star hotel with a 5 star experience

went with son and husband for holiday in July. self catering apartment was clean, spacious and well equipped with balcony overlooking the pool. maid service was first class. could not fault the accomodation the pool is large and shared by all, but with strict rules...no large inflatables, no hard balls, no glass and no rowdy behaviour. it was well policed by Júlio and Johni who were courteous and kept the pool area tidy and in order lovely that the pool was gated and sunbeds seriously could not be reserved. the gates opened at 9 and you took your pick... so refreshing. there was a smaller pool for kids and the inflatables please note - there was no lifeguard. we had 3 stag groups arrive through the stay and all were loud but not boisterous, but a large family came and did spoil a tranquil setting. feral kids and smoking cannabis by the pool. foul language too... but you can get that anywhere there was an all pupose court, pool and table tennis and a gym the hotel was in a great location, not too far from the strip, but close to some great local restaurants and bars too. an aldi was 10 miutes away would we go again, yes absolutely

Relaxing break at the Vila Petra

Just returned from a 9 night stay at the Vila Petra and thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing break. We have stayed at this hotel many times, though not for a number of years and it didn't disappoint. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Pool beds always available throughtout the day and hotel grounds are stunning. I'd like to give a shout out to Roshan and Claudio in the entertainment team who were always happy and positive. Also to David in the Stones bar. We will definitely be back.

Honest and Truthful Review

I’ve edited my original Review as it seems to have read incorrectly by Vila Petra. I’ve now revised this as below. My husband and I visited in June 26 for two weeks. We're very well travelled and this is a totally honest review.

The Good:- Entertainment Team were lovely. Well done to Roshan and Claudio for their friendliness.

The Bar Staff in The Stone Bar. Very professional and friendly and always remembered our drink choice. All the drinks are measured and priced as in the UK., so don't expect large measurements.

Circus Night. The piri piri chicken was great and reasonable pricing. Show quite good too.

The location- Very good. Local to walking to The Strip. An uber ride to Old Town and Marina for around €3. A must to download the user app. Unbelievably cheap and hardly any waiting.

Sunbeds around the Pool: people did save their beds every day with towels then disappeared for hours. We always found two beds though even if we went around the pool for a couple of hours later in the day. Bottle of Bubbly – Which I again forgot to mention in my original Review. As it was our Anniversary, the Hotel did leave a bottle of Bubbly in our Room. (This was promised as a surprise for when we arrived, but when nothing was received, I emailed the Receiption Staff who then quickly apologised and brought it to our Room). It was a lovely gesture and much appreciated.

The Bad:-

Tui Rep – Although not the Hotel’s fault the Tui Ref was so unhelpful. Went down for the Welcome Meeting and she'd decided she wasn't going to do one. She asked what we wanted to know. Well ! How would we know not knowing anything about anything. I thought it was her job to let us know the ins and outs of everything. We then went elsewhere and booked our trips locally.

The Maid Service - Terrible! She made the bed roughly. She did leave toilet rolls and left towels. The bathroom sink surrounds weren't cleaned once during our two weeks stay and stains proved this. We normally leave around €20 tip for the maid/Cleaner but we didn't leave anything due to the poor clean every day. We could have reported this to Reception but thought the maid may have “had it in for us” should we have done that.

Stag Party - There was one in particular with around 20 men. Why the "Groom" was allowed to parade around with a large plastic willy sticking out of his shorts, I'll never know. There were lots of young children around. I'm not a prude, but that was terrible. The Hotel do say they never entertain Stag or Hen parties, but this is incorrect as there were more than one loud and large party obviously on stag do’s. We saw one large stag party booking arrive together and book in at Reception.

Worst of All - The Breakfast! Oh my God. It was the worst breakfast we've EVER had at any hotel around the World! The hot buffet was luke warm at best, borderline cold. I asked for warm baked beans. The cook woman came out and tipped beans into the "hot" tray. The beans were literally freezing cold. No heat whatsoever. The Hotel state that the food is kept at a good temperature and checked continually. NO ! This is incorrect. Never once was it checked whilst we were there, and never more than luke warm at best. Pancakes were okay though, but, a minor issue was no maple syrup, only honey. Coffee and juices were fine though. We went to a small cafe called The Cottage for breakfasts. Beautiful. A lovely HOT breakfast and great service. One thing I absolutely hated at breakfast at THE HOTEL, and is a pet hate of mine. Whilst eating/drinking the young table clearing staff would stretch over you to grab a dirty cup or plate. I had to tell them to leave until we'd finished on many occasions. So rude ! We don’t know what the food at lunch or dinner were like as we didn’t eat at the Hotel – the Breakfast put us off. They did do Buffet’s most evenings with different Theme Nights but at 25 Euro’s per person we found this to be extortionately priced.

Overall I wouldn't return to the Hotel again. I can't believe that it's received so many good reviews! Honestly, this review is the absolute truth. Good luck to you if you stay here – you’ll realise that this Review is truthful.
