The Muthu Clube Praia da Oura provides two swimming pools set in lush tropical gardens and guests can also take in the Algarve's year-round sunshine from the hotel's sun deck. Huge let down

We’re returning customers after really enjoying our previous stay at this hotel, so unfortunately this experience has been a huge disappointment.
We arrived around six hours before check-in, which was absolutely fine as we understood that check-in was at 5pm. At 5pm, we were finally given our room key, only to find that our room was located at the furthest point of the resort. Again, not a problem in itself.
We then had to walk all the way across the resort five separate times because of a series of issues that were completely out of our control.
First, we walked to the gate, only to discover that the key didn’t work. We then had to walk all the way back to reception, where a member of staff recalibrated the key. We walked all the way back to the room, only to find the door wide open and the room only just starting to be cleaned.
We then had to walk all the way back to reception again to ask what was going on. Initially, we were told there must have been a mistake. The explanation then changed to the previous guests apparently having a late check-out, which was supposedly why our room wasn’t ready.
Finally, we had to make the walk back to the room for a fifth time.
What was most disappointing was the complete lack of warning or communication. Nobody told us that our room would not be ready at 5pm, and there was no apology or offer of anything whatsoever to make up for the situation.
A 5pm check-in is already relatively late, so to arrive at the agreed check-in time only to discover that the room isn’t ready — after already having to walk across the entire resort multiple times — was extremely frustrating.
As returning customers, we expected a much better level of service. Unfortunately, this experience has left us extremely disappointed.
Fantastic Experience for the Family
Visited in August 2026 with my wife and 4 kids, and had an amazing experience. Lovely rooms, fantastic views, variety of excellent restaurants and close proximity to the beach as well. They have free shuttles with friendly drivers. I commend the Hotel Manager, Mr Hugo for running such a wonderful service.
All staff members were very friendly and helpful especially Sebastien/Miguel (Monica reception), Sandra/ Pedro (restaurant), Aurora(recption), Maimuna, Carla/Nadisa (housekeeping). My family and other hotel guests got the opportunity to participate in the 4yr Monica collection anniversary celebration which was delightful.

Gorgeous hotel in an idilic location
Nice time here with a friend, lovely hotel and great location. Staff very friendly and helpful, in particular Boris who also was great fun! Would definitely come again.
Wouldn’t recommend
Just came back from this hotel. Absolutely impossible to get a sun lounger , far too many rooms for such little space round the pools. What makes it worse people not staying at the hotel can buy day passes to use the all inclusive facilities. Queues for buffet restaurants out the door. You can book for the other restaurants but I would do this as soon you get there as we could only get into 1. Wouldn’t return. Rooms are not the cleanest either parasol on the balcony absolutely covered in bird poo and you hear every bit of noise from your room. Receptionist wasn’t the friendliest either when we checked in didn’t smile once. Was told check in was not until 5pm but we hit lucky and our room was ready at 2.30pm.
Stay away from Indian and Chinese restaurants
Hotel well situated with lovelybeach access Food in the hotel was excellent We went to a few of their themed restaurants The BBQ , tapas and fish and chips were excellent We went to the Indian which was very poor The Chinese has to be worse ever but overall the hotel is top class
