The annoying entertainers ruined it
Overall, not bad but not good.
The rooms are badly in need of renovation but they are clean but very basic. The wi-fi is terrible and lasts only a few minutes before cut-out over and over again.
The pool is a good size and fine for kids big and small. The beaches is 20mins walk away.
Firstly, do not go Full board nor Half board.The dinner buffet was awful. It's made for kids- chips, pizza, spaghetti etc - but adult food is sadly lacking. The quality is poor and bland. Steaks are all fat no meat, pasta overcooked and lasagne was like rubber, fish looked unappealing. Horrible so don't bother. We waited 45mins for a drinks order that never showed. €22a head was a complete waste of money.
However, in contrast, the breakfast buffet is really good. Lots of choice, freshly cooked. Fruit juice is cheap rubbish but plenty of other options.
The worst thing of all are the entertainers. They are beyond awful and very annoying. 10am, 12pm, 3pm the guy comes out, plugs in his speaker and starts yelling utter gibberish non-stop for an hour in broken English. It's the same 10 songs every time on a loop blasted out. There is NO peace by the pool at all.
At night the entertainers are just as annoying. My son and I were playing pool when the female non-Portuguese entertainer interrupted us three times and ask us to play music bingo. She took my son's cue off him saying "I'm good at pool!". I told her to do one as 'No' clearly didn't work three times over. When I say do one you know what I really said.
There are 2 pool tables and an air hockey but it needs more arcade games as kids are running around at night bored causing mayhem. As the World Cup was in there was only 1 TV in the bar.
Overall, I won't stay there again.
Family holiday
Great for families- entertainment team are amazing! Our boys loved Helio & Leo They loved Helio at the football ⚽️⚽️
Excellent holiday!!
Thought I would leave a little review for anybody looking to travel as a family and considering this hotel. I went here with my husband and 2 boys 5&6 years old. The hotel was perfect, spacious rooms, spacious balcony, clean also, the facilities are endless also my kiddos were never bored here. If you want to leave the complex there are some stunning places nearby just a 10-15min walk or you can get an uber which was never more than €10. I would come back here in a heartbeat and we all really enjoyed it. 10 stars!!

Good family hotel - housekeeping needs to improve
I have just returned from 2 weeks staying here with my partner and our two sons age 14 & 9. We stayed in Block 2, the room itself was great, plenty of space, good kitchen facilities and great air con. The first few days we went to the big pool beside block 1 as we aren't early risers and were able to get sunbeds around 10am. After this all sun beds were reserved with towels by 8.30am. There were sunbeds reserved beside us 1 day and the people did not arrive to use them until around 3pm which isn't acceptable. We ended up going to the pool by block 2 which we found we all preferred. There were always beds available and the pool was a much better temperature (the bigger pool was SO cold!!). I did miss Leo though as he was great fun with his pool entertainment throughout the day!
There are lots of things for the kids to do and there is a football match over in the Alfagar village 3g pitches each morning at 10.30am.
We arrived around 12.30pm and our room was ready for check in at 2pm which was great as check in is normally 4pm. We ate at the Tavern Bar while we waited, the food was ok but not worth the price (pizza, burger, 3 chips & 4 soft drinks for 70 odd euro!)
The hotel and pool areas are kept lovely however my biggest complaint was that the housekeeping for the rooms is not adequate! I'm not normally one to complain but our floors were not being brushed for days and left without clean towels. I spoke to reception about this as we paid a lot of money for the holiday. They followed up with me the next day to check that the floors had been cleaned but from then on they were only cleaned if I asked housekeeping to do it. I had to buy disinfectant to wipe down bathroom surfaces and mirror as they weren't touched either.
There are a few lovely restaurants a 5 minute walk - Restaurant Martin's, Portobello & Tikka and Talk were all lovely. Do not eat in the Old Town unless you want to pay around 30 a head. Sexy Meat is a beautiful place for steak and it is very reasonable! There are also a load of restaurants and shops if you take a right on the main road and walk for about 10 or 15 minutes.
