Welcome to Domus Zamittello, a restored 17th century palazzo, ideally located at the beginning of Republic Street, just as one enters the cultural capital city of Valletta. The hotel offers accommodation in different elegantly designed classic rooms, some overlooking the hotel courtyard whilst those on South Street overlook the open theatre.This comfortable Hotel is located in Valletta. This elegant 17th Century home had originally been part of the earlier estate of the Auberge D'Italie, one of the langues of the Order of St John. Recent research dates the palazzo back to 1633 when it was used by various knights of Italian descent. and was then known as Casa Pensa. In 1805, after the departure from Malta of the Knights of St John, the British Governor granted ownership of the palazzo to Sir Giuseppe Nicola Zamitt, for services to the Crown. In recent years, the present Count of Mont'Alto, a descendant of Sir Giuseppe Nicola Zamitt after whom the palazzo is now named, embarked on a project to enlarge it and restore the entire property to its former glory. Opened in 2018, Domus Zamittello has 21 elegant and comfortable rooms, out of which six suites, five of which are spacious duplexes. The spacious 125 sq m sun terrace on the third floor overlooks Republic Street, as well as the entrance to Valletta, the Triton Fountain and beyond. Reception service is available 24 hours a day.

The hotel has an excellent location in Valletta. Central but quiet. The staff are very caring and are anxious to please. They are very good at making recommendations and suggestions. The room was very comfortable with all the necessary amenities. Breakfast was made to order with a good selection available. We had the hotel's private chauffeur for the day who showed us things about Malta we would not have been aware of. As part of this the hotel organised a private wine tasting at Ta Betta vineyard which was lovely. Overall we would highly recommend the hotel.
Hotel is well located, extremely clean, room was lovely and spacious and no issues with noise However, what undoubtedly makes this hotel is the wonderful staff - so friendly, professional, attentive, without being over the top, and nothing too much trouble - doing everything they could to help make the stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible - they are a credit to the hotel - thank you
Fabulous hotel on beautiful street with terrific staff. We loved our three-night stay. In particular, the staff treated us like royalty. Moul, Mohit, Ryan, Sandra, Ahmed and Inusha were all amazing. Mohit walked me to a local place to get take out, so we could party on the 3rd floor terrace and listen to a concert in the next-door open opera house during the St. Francis Day festival. The breakfast was delicious, and we hated to leave.
I agonised about this review. Our experience was, in some ways, disappointing. We wanted a twin room but ended up paying too much for a deluxe suite with low ceilings. However, that was my fault. As the manager I spoke to pointed out, I should have noted the room description that referred to the height restriction.
Despite that annoyance, we still very much enjoyed our stay at the Domus. The location is superb and the staff are excellent. They were so kind and they went out of their way to help us. There is a sense of luxury and the terrace is a great place to have a drink and watch the chaos below that is crowded Valletta. Our room was low down but we were not disturbed by any of the street noise.
Definitely, consider booking this hotel if you are coming to Valletta. It is not cheap but it makes a superb base for exploring this fascinating city.
