Welcome to Domus Zamittello, a restored 17th century palazzo, ideally located at the beginning of Republic Street, just as one enters the cultural capital city of Valletta. Domus Zamittello invites guests to enjoy the vibrant and cultural baroque capital along with its high-end shopping addresses whilst appreciating the architectural beauty of this prestigious building. The hotel offers accommodation in different elegantly designed classic rooms, some overlooking the hotel courtyard whilst those on South Street overlook the open theatre.This comfortable Hotel is located in Valletta. This elegant 17th Century home had originally been part of the earlier estate of the Auberge D'Italie, one of the langues of the Order of St John. Recent research dates the palazzo back to 1633 when it was used by various knights of Italian descent. and was then known as Casa Pensa. In 1805, after the departure from Malta of the Knights of St John, the British Governor granted ownership of the palazzo to Sir Giuseppe Nicola Zamitt, for services to the Crown. In recent years, the present Count of Mont'Alto, a descendant of Sir Giuseppe Nicola Zamitt after whom the palazzo is now named, embarked on a project to enlarge it and restore the entire property to its former glory. Opened in 2018, Domus Zamittello has 21 elegant and comfortable rooms, out of which six suites, five of which are spacious duplexes. The spacious 125 sq m sun terrace on the third floor overlooks Republic Street, as well as the entrance to Valletta, the Triton Fountain and beyond. Reception service is available 24 hours a day.

Staying at Domus Zamittello was truly an amazing experience, right in the heart of Valletta. The location puts you at the center of everything the city has to offer, and the property itself has so much character.
What really made this stay special was the staff. From the moment we arrived, the team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The manager in particular was an incredible resource — genuinely knowledgeable about Malta and generous with recommendations, from where to eat to which sites shouldn't be missed. It's rare to find that level of hospitality and local insight combined.
If you're looking for a place that feels authentic, well-located, and backed by a team that actually cares about your experience, this is it. Domus Zamittello is a true hidden gem in Valletta, and I'd recommend it without hesitation to anyone visiting Malta.
We had a wonderful stay at Domus Zamittello. The hotel occupies an elegant palazzo dating from the 16th century, thoughtfully restored while retaining a real sense of its history. Its location on Republic Street is hard to beat, just a few minutes’ walk from the Upper Barrakka Gardens and some excellent restaurants, and perfectly placed for exploring Valletta on foot.
We stayed in Room 25 and recommend it. It is remarkably spacious, with two bathrooms, a traditional Maltese balcony overlooking the old opera house and an extremely comfortable bed.
Breakfast was generous, with plenty of choice, and the service was warm and attentive throughout our stay. Domus Zamittello was a lovely place to come back to at the end of each day.
Beautifully restored palazzo on the main street of Valletta. Elegance and roominess. Delicious individually prepared fresh breakfast with high quality ingredients. The staff was exquisitely polite and considerate. Valletta is busy and the hotel was an oasis of calm and luxury. The third floor terrace overlooks the outdoor theater and street. All small details were perfect. I am glad I chose this gem over a larger more commercial resort like location.

The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful — elegant, full of character, and perfectly located in the heart of Valletta — but what made our stay so memorable was the incredible hospitality we received from Moul and the entire team.
From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Every interaction felt personal, thoughtful, and sincere, and it was clear that they take great pride in making their guests’ stay special. Moul in particular could not have been more gracious, attentive, and helpful. The extra touches and kindness shown to us made such a difference and turned an already wonderful stay into something we will always remember.
Our room was beautiful, the hotel was impeccably maintained, and the location could not have been better for exploring Valletta. But above all, it was the warmth of the staff that set Domus Zamittello apart.
We travel quite a bit, and it is rare to find a hotel that combines such a beautiful setting with this level of genuine, heartfelt service. We left feeling as though we had been welcomed by friends rather than simply staying at a hotel.
A huge thank you to Moul and the entire Domus Zamittello team for making our visit to Malta so special. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and would return without hesitation.
