This hotel boasts a contemporary design and modern amenities. It is located in the tranquil residential area of Spinola Bay, right next to St Julian's promenade with its beautiful scenery, large variety of fine dining seaside restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel is just behind St Julian's Terminus and 5 minutes' walk from the beach. The hotel enjoys great public transportation links around Malta, including Malta International Airport and the capital city of Valletta, both 20 minutes' drive away.
Be sure to enjoy recreational amenities including an outdoor pool and bicycles to rent. Additional features at this Mediterranean hotel include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and wedding services.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Of course — I’d add Sue as a positive mention near the beginning, as she clearly made a good impression.
We stayed at Hotel Argento for five nights and overall had a pleasant stay. The hotel was very clean, our room was excellent, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful.
A special mention has to go to Sue on reception, who always had a smile and such a happy, friendly personality. She was a pleasure to deal with and really helped create a welcoming atmosphere during our stay.
There were, however, a few areas where we felt things could have been improved.
On one occasion at the rooftop pool/bar, I felt a little uncomfortable when ordering a drink and ice cream, as the member of staff serving was on her phone at the time. I appreciate that everyone has busy moments, but I felt as though I was inconveniencing her.
Breakfast was a little confusing when we first arrived. There was a good choice of hot and cold food, but we weren’t really shown how to order things such as pancakes. We only discovered this on our second day. At busy times, there also seemed to be quite a lot of hustle and bustle, and on one occasion there wasn’t enough hot food available for the number of guests.
The main issue for us, however, was an excursion we booked through the hotel. Unfortunately, we weren’t given an itinerary or enough information about how the day would work. We were told to wait at a particular bus stop, but the bus actually left from around 49 feet further up the road. There was nobody there to explain where we should go or which bus to get on, which caused unnecessary confusion.
When we arrived at the port, we also had to register separately for the Blue Lagoon, something we hadn’t been told about beforehand. There was then further confusion among the group about boarding the boat and what was happening next. During the trip, we were also asked to get off the boat to go to Gozo, which again wasn’t something we had been expecting.
The Blue Lagoon itself was beautiful and the places we visited were lovely, but the lack of clear information made the day much more stressful and confusing than it needed to be. An itinerary and clearer instructions at the start of the excursion would have made a huge difference.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Argento and would recommend the hotel. With a little more organisation at breakfast and, particularly, clearer communication regarding excursions, the experience could be even better.
I think the Sue mention makes the review feel more balanced, because you’re recognising good individual service as well as pointing out what could be improved.
Clean rooms in a location that was close to restaurants, the waterfront and supermarkets. My room had a bath and was quite spacious. The air conditioning was self regulated and operated well. The mini fridge is empty and worked very well for my own purchases as I stayed here 4 nights. The breakfast was included and a large variety is offered, as well as an option to order a variety of cooked options including eggs, pancakes and waffles.
My husband and I stayed in The Argento hotel for ten nights. Good location. Not much of a view from our room. The hotel is close to shops cafes and bars. It is also very close to the local busses that can virtually take you all over the Island. The hotel is described as 4 star, but in my opinion it is not. Thier website also says there is a lobby bar, there was a bar but not in use during during our stay 5th through to 15 September 2026. The afternoon tea, advertised on thier website was not available. The room was lacklustre, but clean, although there was dust on every surface. We had the room was carpeted, which we thoght was odd, because most all the other rooms we saw, had flooring. The bathroom was clean and towels provided each day along and serviced every day. The breakfast was fairly good and had good selection of hot and cold food and was ok. The only thing that the hotel had going for it was the rooftop pool. Fairly good views, maybe a few more parasols, but very refreshing for a dip after a bit of sun. I wouldn't return to this hotel I would try an alternative accommodation.
I visited Malta and stayed at hotel Argento for four days towards the end of August and had a fantastic time. The hotel is generally located just off the Main Street in St. Julian which is a beautiful town. The hotel is tastefully decorated and our room was clean and modern. The beds were comfortable and the room was a good size.
We were greeted warmly by the reception staff ( Rocio,Sughey and Lethicia ) and the restaurant staff ( Mary, Gustavo, Reshma,Phebie and Bimal ) were accommodating with our requests. It was a friends birthday and the staff brought her a cake and sang happy birthday at breakfast which was a lovely touch.
There was a good choice of breakfast with a cooked option including bacon, eggs, sausages and beans etc and also continental options too.
Would definitely stay there again!
My experience at Hotel Argento was genuinely one of the worst hotel stays I have had, particularly as I was travelling for business and needed a clean, welcoming place where I could also work.
This hotel is advertised as a 4-star hotel, but clearly between 1 -2 stars at most. The gap between the advertised standard and what I experienced was significant.
The room had an unpleasant smell, and I found stained towels and bedding on arrival. On two separate occasions, I was also given pool towels that smelled unpleasant. The pool itself appeared dirty. The Wi-Fi had constant problems, to the point where I could not work properly, and I ended up going to a nearby café in the evenings just to get my work done.
My biggest concern, however, was safety. I was placed in a separate building across the road from the main hotel. There was no reception staff or visible hotel staff in that building when entering or leaving, which often made me feel unsafe, particularly in the evenings. I did not feel there was any proper staff presence or support should something happen. Given that I was travelling alone for business, this was particularly concerning and not what I would expect from a hotel advertised as 4-star. Check-in was also more than an hour late.
The biggest issue, however, was the customer service. On checkout day, I mistakenly thought checkout was at 12. A member of staff came to my door twice, and on both occasions she was rude. The second time, she aggressively told me, "You need to get out now." I remained polite, smiled, said okay and rushed to get myself checked out.
When I arrived at reception, another member of staff greeted me with, "Huh, what?!" I explained that I wanted to check out. She told me I was 45 minutes late. I apologised and explained that I genuinely thought checkout was at 12. The way she looked at me and spoke to me was openly unpleasant. I simply said that, given I had also been checked in almost an hour late, perhaps we were even. I had no interest in getting into a confrontation, so I left.
I want to be clear that, in my experience, this was not a language or cultural misunderstanding. The staff I encountered spoke English very well. The problem was the manner in which certain staff members chose to speak to and treat guests. The level of basic civility, hospitality and customer care was shockingly poor. I also witnessed staff speaking rudely to other guests.
Ironically, the only staff members who consistently smiled and were genuinely kind to me were the cleaning staff. They were by far the warmest and most welcoming people I encountered at the hotel. I also personally observed interactions that gave me the strong impression that they were poorly managed and not always treated with the same respect by some reception staff and management. It was uncomfortable to witness.
These interactions may sound small individually, but together they created a consistently hostile and unwelcoming atmosphere. As someone travelling for business, that is the last thing I expect when paying to stay in a hotel advertised as a 4-star hotel.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I have stayed at three other hotels in the same area and had absolutely no issues. In fact, I experienced amazing service and consistently polite, professional staff. The Mercure is one example. The difference in service and hospitality was significant. I will be sticking with those other hotels on my future visits to the area.
Management at Hotel Argento seriously needs to review its staffing, listen to guest feedback and invest in proper customer care and hotel service training. For the money, I do not think this hotel is worth it.
There are several other hotels nearby, within walking distance, and I strongly suggest choosing one of those instead.
