We had a lovely time at the Intercontinental. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The service was top notch, with very friendly staff and housekeeping who accommodated all our needs. The breakfast was also very nice. I would highly recommend and will be staying here again in the future.
We booked Intercontinental with BA holidays as a package. We were debating over various hotels in St Julian and Sliema, as there are so many to choose from, but we are so glad we picked this one! So many fantastic things to mention!

We came to Malta for a 1 week family holiday. We had previously spent 3 nights in another part of Malta , so this is why we decided to spend 4 nights at the intercontinental hotel in sta Julian's. We felt it would be a lovely hotel for us to relax and enjoy the facilities as this hotel seems to have a resort vibe. Please don't think this is a bad review of the staff and front desk and concierge services as these were really fantastic..it's about the overall hotel itself. The hotel is definitely not to the intercontinental standards. Our room that we checked in too was dull dark damp and dirty . At first I thought maybe it was due to the AC not being on that damp sticky feeling on everything so we left it on all night .. we woke up and it was the same overall feeling the bedsheets felt damp the bedding was absolutely awful, the pillows terrible everything felt sticky and damp throughout. Bathroom was dirty everything needed a deep clean . The toilet seat wasn't the correct size for the toilet. I take wet wipes with me for most trips and I wiped the floor and it came up filthy. Around the taps and shower was dirt that hasn't been cleaned properly in god knows how long . Next morning I complained about the room and we were moved to another part of the hotel . This room seemed much brighter and didn't have the sticky damp feeling. The bathroom was much brighter with a better toilet seat however this still needed a good deep clean but this room was better than the last one . Felt cooler especially as it was very hot in Malta . The hotel is situated on a very busy strip .so if your looking for peace and quiet this isn't the one ..we did come to st Julian's for the busy atmosphere.. The hotel facilities include a main pool and rooftop pool . Roof top pool you would need to pay 50 euro pp if you wanted to use it . Unless you was staying in a suite, But this gets cancelled out of you buy food and drink I didn't think that it was worth 200 euro as there was 4 of us so we didn't use the facilities. The main pool was extremely busy ..I totally understand this as we did visit in August however I did not know that they shared the amenities with the holiday inn next door so no wonder it was totally overcrowded. So it was a shared pool with the holiday inn . Not something that I was aware of . The beach is not located near the hotel it's a short walk down the road so not really a hotel with a beach .we did go to check this out however it was completely occupied and overcrowded . This hotel was not the standard that I was expecting we was totally disappointed we made the most of our time there out of the hotel.. I wouldn't recommend this place . Staff and concierge and front desk were all fantastic.
