JUst had a couple of meals at their talk of the town cafe and excellent food and service.
Still here. We look forward to an adults only holiday every September and pay the extra to do this,this hotel is advertised as adults only but currently in roof top pool surrounded by kids. Not got a single problem with the kids or the families,but the hotel did tell us and advertised as adults only
We really enjoyed staying here. It's a 5 minute walk to the waterfront which meant is is a lot quieter area. The room was very comfortable with a great balcony overlooking the sea. All of the staff were very friendly and happy to help with anything. We stayed B&B and the buffet breakfast was excellent with a great variety of choices both cold and hot options. The roof top pool is a real bonus with great views over the city. The restaurants we also ate in were very good, RoofTop and the Talk of Town Cafe. This would be our first choice hotel if we return to this area of Malta.
We had a fantastic stay at AX The Palace. Even before we arrived, the hotel was really helpful with restaurant recommendations and reservations, as well as general tips as it was our first time visiting Malta. That level of service continued throughout our stay.
Check-in was seamless and we were welcomed with a local drink on arrival. Our room was large, spacious and clean, with a huge bed and far-reaching views across the rooftops towards the sea. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary while there and also received a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine, which was a lovely touch - thank you!
Breakfast was really good quality with a huge amount of choice. We didn't eat in any of the other restaurants, other than grabbing a sandwich at the pool bar, so can't comment on those.
The rooftop pool was a good size and actually one of the bigger rooftop pools we've come across. There was plenty of space for sitting or lounging around it and we never had any trouble finding somewhere to sit, regardless of the time of day.
The location was perfect for us. It's an easy walk down to the promenade with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, and we also walked to Balluta Bay, St Julian's and Gżira. We really liked Sliema itself too. There are lots of little streets to wander around and explore and, although it has a nice bustling atmosphere, we never found it overwhelmingly busy. It was also a great base for our trips to Valletta and Mdina.
The hotel itself is lovely. There are a few areas showing some wear and tear, but we know it's due to close for refurbishment shortly after our visit. We'd happily stay again as it is, but will definitely be interested to see it after the refurbishment.
Lastly, a special mention has to go to the staff. The service was consistently excellent and everyone we encountered, from reception and breakfast to Talk of the Town and the pool bar, was so friendly and helpful. They are an absolute asset to the hotel.
Overall, we loved our first visit to Malta and AX The Palace was a great base for it. We'll definitely be back! 🤍❤️
Lovely hotel comfy beds and quiet rooms. Just wish they had proper black out curtains. We were upgraded to floor 7 executive room and it was great. Love the adult only pool and the fact you have a choice of a few venues to eat in the hotel if after sight seeing it’s too much effort to go out. Well positioned in Sliema. Wonderful staff we’ve been before and will go back again . There’s a Lidl just round the corner to get wine /water etc.
