Maritim Antonine Hotel and Spa

Location good for public transport. The rooms are very basic and didn't like the fact that overlooked street. Very expensive hotel for what I consider very basic room

We genuinely liked some things about this hotel. The location is good, our room was clean, the staff were mostly friendly. Unfortunately, several issues significantly affected our five-night stay.

We chose this hotel partly because of its advertised swimming pool facilities. Upon arrival, we discovered that the indoor pool was closed for maintenance for our entire stay, without any prior notification. The rooftop pool is restricted to guests aged 16+, so travelling with a child meant that this was not an alternative for us.

We were also disappointed with the cleanliness and maintenance of the family-accessible outdoor pool area. There was visible dirt and debris, hair, damaged and missing mosaic tiles and deteriorated areas. We reported this to the hotel and documented the condition with photographs, some of which were taken at approximately 8:15 in the morning, before a full day of guest use.

We also had an issue with the air conditioning in our room. It did not actually cool the room and effectively functioned only as ventilation. We could adjust the fan speed, but could not achieve a comfortable room temperature, which was particularly unpleasant in August.

What disappointed us most, however, was the way management handled our complaint. The General Manager confirmed to me in writing that the indoor pool was an advertised facility and that information about its closure had not been updated on third-party booking platforms before our arrival.

The hotel initially offered approximately €30 worth of complimentary food as a goodwill gesture. When I explained that I did not consider this proportionate compensation for five days without an advertised facility, the General Manager specifically instructed me to request a partial refund through Booking.com and confirmed that the hotel would cooperate with them.

I followed his instructions. Booking.com subsequently informed me that they were unable to reach an agreement with the hotel.

As someone who also works in hotel management, I fully understand that unexpected maintenance and technical problems can happen. For me, the real measure of hospitality is how a hotel responds when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, this is where our experience fell well below expectations.

It is a real shame because we genuinely enjoyed many other aspects of the hotel. With better maintenance of the facilities and a fairer, more guest-oriented response from management, our overall impression would have been very different.

If the swimming pools are an important factor when choosing this hotel, I strongly recommend confirming directly with the hotel before arrival that all advertised pools are operational.

Lovely hotel. Staff so friendly and hotel has great facilities including a spa. Had 2 fabulous treatments with Precious in the spa. A comfortable, clean hotel in great location and with good public transport just outside. Beds sooooo comfortable that you have a great sleep
