The Luna Holiday complex is an aparthotel offering a wide range of Self-Catering accommodation on Malta's north-coast. It is within easy walking distance of Mellieha Bay, with its popular sandy beach and its varied watersports facilities, bars and restaurants. The village of Mellieha is about 15 minutes walk above the resort. There is a local bus stop a few minutes away.
We have had the best experience at the Lune hotel, Raj, Henry and Liam are outstanding in customer service and are very happy, welcoming and attention to detail.
We have already booked whilst here for next year.
Had a great 11 night stay at the Luna Holiday Complex.
We stayed in a second floor (no lift) 2 bedroomed superior family apartment which is in a separate block to the back of the hotel near the minimarket. The block looks a little shabby & the communal area is basic but the apartment was great, spotlessly clean & modern. 2 separate excellent sized bedrooms, a living area, kitchenette & bathroom. We were B+B & ate out the rest of the time so didn't use the facilities other than the fridge but it was all very well stocked. Out balcony was over the over & faced the sea, it was nice & quiet at night. Location is a few mins from the beach with a small selection of eateries & approx. 1.5km from the town which is up a steep(ish) hill. We always took a Bolt (between 6-10 euros) into town due to the heat but walked back. Here there is the church seen from the hotel & a whole host of restaurants.
This is a 3 star hotel but with some 4 star qualities which I will highlight: Lovely reception area & bar/sitting area with comfortable outside seating also. Easy check in, no problems & friendly welcome. Buffet breakfast, cold meats/cheese, bread rolls, fruit, cereal & standard hot selection with juice & teas/coffee. Gym with cardio equipment & weights - not often seen in 3 star accommodation. Ground floor pool with sunbeds for families, I felt was slightly shaded & would have been disappointed if I had to use this. Rooftop pool & bar/restaurant was outstanding. This is adults only & enforced, a lovely area with sunbeds & parasols & no rush to get a place - definitely a 4 star quality.
All staff from someone you met in a corridor to everyone who served you a drink/meal were friendly & appeared happy in their work. Service was exceptional.
Lovely stay, great value for money & we would recommend. The hotel clearly has a lot of returning guests year on year which says a lot.
Very nice and accommodating hotel, was really satisfied about the service and cleanliness.
Walking into the lobby you think wow! It really has been done up nice. Walking through the hotel to the rooms ,pools etc you start to think Fawlty Towers. All of the 3 lifts were continually breaking down you played a lottery seeking the 1 that was working this was everyday. Housekeeping was very poor. You had to chase around to get towels as they didnt always leave enough and also toilet rolls. I asked at reception for toilet rolls and was told by a very snooty receptionist where I could collect some to which I replied No I am not walking around the hotel carrying toilet rolls get them sent to the room now please. The bar staff and waitresses were excellent very friendly but the reception staff were a waste of time. Now to the main issue the pools. Jet 2 advertised this place as having I quote 2 outdoor pools and an indoor pool. The outdoor rooftop pool was adult only which we knew about so fine. What we didnt know and we're misled by Jet2 was the indoor pool in summer opens up the roof and sides and becomes a so called outdoor family pool. This pool is really small gets no sun at all on the water so is always chilly. The patio area does get sun but the sunbeds are really old dirty and not at all comfortable unlike the nicer sunbeds on the rooftop adult pool. At weekends this complex invites locals etc to pay and use the facilities meaning this tiny pool can get rammed despite signs stating max 40 person's. Also twice a week for an hour or so this tiny pool is halved to allow a private hire water aerobics sessions. We questioned the Jet 2 rep who listened to our complaint but couldn't really do anything like find alternative accommodation so we had to grin and bear it and get on with holiday. Since back in the UK our complaint about being missed by Jet 2 has been heard at the Ceo level and compensation is now being discussed. Another fact on this matter is when we raised our issues with the manager about poor maintenance poor housekeeping etc his attitude although appearing to be a smiley face guy was Well you have booked a 3 star place!!!! His words. To recap Not a hotel for families with young children Poor Maintence Poor Housekeeping Snooty Receptionist Uncaring Manager But!!! Excellent bar and food serving staff. As stated can be a bit like Fawlty Towers but during our 10 night stay we failed to find Basil
Well where do I start... 1st impressions when arriving yes this is nice and will be great to celebrate my 40th birthday, checked in smoothly, go to room with luggage and 1st issue was the lift wasn't working, syliva from the pool bar came to help and we was shown another lift so managed to get up to the room. Room we had was nice big and spacious..we unpacked and headed to find the pool, well this is where it really went wrong, we came across the indoor pool as photos are attached that was partly open with awful sun beds. I said to my family there must be another pool as on jet2 website i was advertised as 2 outdoor pools 1 of them being a roof top adult pool and a indoor pool. I spoke to the receptionist who informed me there was only 2 pools and the one I was at was the only family pool. That night when going to bed I tried to lock the balcony door to see it was broken, I went down to reception to be told nothing would be done till the morning, no I appreciate no staff was on site to fix in the evening but these things should be checked before someone checks in to the room but cleaning staff. Instead cleaners are too busy using people's belongings like a phone charger to charge their phone as I later witnessed when I went back to my room later into the holiday. After meeting with jet2 I was informed I hadn't been mis sold and nothing would be done, the manager of the hotel even said its advertised correct. At this time my issue was with jet2 but as the holiday progressed there was more and more about this hotel that was awful..cleaning wasn't great, the day we had a cleaner in using my phone charger I had to get them back in as they had missed so much and failed to leave tea towels and other bits.
The bar and waiting staff were brilliant especially syliva and raj and sined was lovely throughout and really helped my daughter when she got heat exhausted and also very good on our last night when I needed a ambulance which is likely due to the whole stressful experience of what should of been a nice holiday to celebrate a big mile stone in my life.
Didn't get her name but a older blonde women on reception was extremely rude and could do with some training in customer services.
