First time staying at luna holiday hotel. Excellent hotel and service. No issues checking in or out. Lovely hotel and all staff extremely friendly. Definitely will be returning next year. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Nice friendly Hotel. Staff on reception extremely helpful , entry area and bar dining well air con and clean . 40 degrees be careful mental hot August .. room wise ok , bed and pillow so so … shower nice and powerful . Balcony real let down tiny , not somewhere you would sit for long just enough to dry towels.. two pools downstairs for kids to play , roof top for adults / older kids 16 /17 nice area to chill . 10 mins to beach not much of a hill , 15 euro for two loungers and shade.. you need get discount at reception pay 2 euro weekdays . Food in hotel not bad , but buffet breakfast poor don’t bother . Nora restaurant 5 mins walk nice food decent portions .. good value . If you want to travel use BOLT not uber seam much cheaper in this area , If you go to main town Billy’s bar short cab 6 Euro . Pool is only 1 euro . Snacks and range of beer . Water sports plenty to choice from and well priced boat trips . Overall well placed friendly , negative is really the rooms dated , need re turb.. also cleaning only every 3 days , towels daily , you can hear everyone above you . All in all had great stay !
A very mixed bag for Luna. It's somewhere between a 3* and 4*
Check in at midnight was painfully slow, not ideal with a young family like ours. Our room was a family apartment in block 6. Which is accessed by a tunnel under the hotel into a separate building. Not brilliant if I'm honest it didn't feel part of the hotel, positive was it was quiet.
The room itself was spacious, clean and looked to have been recently refurbished, however the overall quality wasn't great. 2 separate bedrooms one with 3 single beds and another with a double bed, which as everyone else has said are very uncomfortable but at this price point compared to other hotels you know its going to have it's issues.
Pool was relatively easy to find a lounger or a table. Pool is very small compared to others but was adequate. Pool snacks and drinks service was good, staff always looked happy. We used the hotel buffet for breakfast one morning. Found it a bit lackluster in options but was cheap compared to restaurant offerings locally.
We bought our bus passes from the mini market, if heading south try to go out when the crowds are heading the opposite way to/from the beach. It can take 4 or 5 buses to go passed to finally get enough space to get on board. Speaking of the Luna market it's ok, prices aren't too inflated but if your SC maybe use Bolt or Wolt app for deliveries. We used both for Food delivery, McDonald's and other takeaway options that were very cheap and very quick.
The hotel doesn't really offer anything you would expect from a normal hotel, no kids clubs, no entertainment particularly other than a singer in the reception/bar area which wasn't really aimed at kids. But I suspect the hotel knows its demographic better than I do so caters to what most of their guests want.
It's a 3* hotel trying to look and act like a 4* hotel but the budget is 3* still. We would go back if the price point was right as it's a good base close to the beach and a short bus ride (20/25 minute uphill hill walk) to Mellieha.
A special thanks to the Maria for arranging for some balloons, banner and birthday note to my daughter who celebrated her birthday while in Malta. It was a really nice touch.
Great hotel in Mellieha bay. There hotels that look nicer, but they have tiny bedrooms, whereas at this hotel the rooms are larger, often with a kitchens cooking facilities, should you want them. This location is perfect. There are countless bars and restaurants nearby, and just up the hill where the church is. Far too many restaurants to mention here. The hotel has two pools, one on the ground floor for children, and one on the rooftop for adults, where there is also a bar and dining area. Music piped in and jacuzzi and swimming pool (not heated) which can be a tad cold in the mornings, do you need to be brave. The bar staff are second to none. I was last there in May and there were more than enough sunbeds, although next year (2027) we are going out there in June, so hotter and maybe busier. The views are also great from the roof. There’s a supermarket on the ground floor, as well as scuba/diving club, if that’s what you are interested in. The hotel is close the bay, so boat trios are easy, although if you go to Gozo, I would not recommend the coach trip around Gozo, it was just too rushed, and instead stay on the boat and be taken to the beach. Getting back to the subject of the hotel, there’s entertainment most nights, in the downstairs bar area. There are main bus stops to get to important places to visit, like Valleta, although the Bolt taxi service is even better than Uber and is well priced. The hotel has a suitcase storage area for your last day. All in all a great hotel, and the staff are exceptional.
I travelled with my daughter. The hotel is so clean and tidy - well looked after. Seems like its had a recent refurbishment. Our room was 1203 on arrival we were so pleased. It had a huge shower which was powerful. Had complimentary shower gel and hand soap. There was ample wardrobe space and storage all open plan. The safe was included in the cost. The beds were fine, I know people have said they were rock hard but we slept soundly for 7days. English plug sockets made it so much easier for us and there were USB sockets too. It had a small kitchenette with kettle, toaster, small oven thing and espresso maker with 2 pods provided. Washing up liquid and a sponge provided for washing pots. Small balcony but enough for drying towels/smalls/swimwear and a glass of wine/game of cards. Air con was fine for us and didn't cost us any extra. On arrival we paid tourist tax and a €50 deposit for room which is worth noting. Room was cleaned every day, beds changed twice. It was spotless. We felt so lucky to have this room. We had a lovely view of Mellieha Parish Church which I requested. Was noisy due to traffic but that did not bother us at all. We were staying B&B. Breakfast was from.7.30-10.30 every morning. Good selection of cereal, pastries, toast/bread, tea/coffee, juices, cooked breakfast items - eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes and beans. We were really pleased with it all. Pool - i was disappointed with the pool area as it was small and you had to chase the sun, However it didnt stop my daughter having fun, making friends and thats the main thing. Pool snack bar was great. 1 lady was amazing sure she was deputy bar manager. She made the best iced coffees! Food was good too. We didnt eat at hotel restaurant 'tonino' as we didn't get chance but food looked great. Pool toilets and showers were cleaned constantly which was amazing.
Hotel is in a good location bus stops close by to go to Mellieha town and other towns too. We had a lovely meal at Nora's down the road, cocktails in Blu bar, we also ate at the restaurant below the Seabank.
Beach is a must, busy, but the water is like bath water and shallow, perfect for young families. We sat near one of the beach bars (ventuno) and had table service for drinks/snacks. 2 sunbeds and a parasol €20 for a full day. Its about a 5min walk from Luna.
Luna mini market is well stocked. Open til 6pm every day..
We went up to the Sky bar and Pool for a.drink, which is what sold the hotel to us. However its adults only. We were gutted by this as its beautiful with lovely views. We soon got over it though and this didn't stop us enjoying our stay.
Sad to be home :(
