2. Make sure you head to a Festa one weekend, where each parish holds huge processions with fireworks, traditional food and drinks as an alternative to a night in local bars.

3. If you want to watch the sunset head to North Malta to the Dingli Cliffs where the views are breath-taking and its quiet enough to enjoy the calm away from the large tourist area.

4. To sample the sea-food of Malta it’s worth visiting Spinola Bay in St Julian’s, as a fishing village all the restaurants serve the freshest fish with tonnes of choice available.

5. Always take a cover-up with you when walking around the cities, if you choose to stop by one of the beautiful churches it is important you are able to cover your knees and shoulders before entering.

6. If you’re driving during your stay in Malta, be warned that rules and regulations are a little bit more relaxed so drive with caution and be aware of other drivers more than you would be in the UK.

7. Take a day trip out to Gozo, if you’re staying on mainland Malta to experience the most you should hire some bikes and cycle around Gozo to explore by yourself.

8. It seems as though heavy traffic will hit at the same time as heavy rain around the town of Valletta, so if it’s rush hour and raining its best to hold off on travelling into town.

9. Ramla Bay in Gozo is an often secluded but beautiful beach to head to if you want some privacy, perfect for settling down to a good book away from the bigger towns.
