Grands Suites Hotel Residences and Spa

We stayed for 7 nights, split between two rooms (3 nights and 4 nights due to availability), and overall had a great stay.

Both rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, and had excellent air conditioning and a balcony. Our second room also had a hot tub, which was a lovely bonus.

The reception staff were always friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay. The coffee shop was also excellent for a morning coffee and cake.

The location of the hotel is another real highlight. It is easy to catch buses to local attractions such as Valletta, making it an excellent base for exploring Malta. We also enjoyed walking to nearby towns, and when we did use taxis, they were readily available and very reasonably priced.

The pool area was lovely, with a refreshing pool, plenty of sun loungers, and showers available. One small maintenance issue is that many of the parasol bases are very unstable in the wind and frequently blew over, so these could do with being replaced.

We chose not to eat in the restaurant as the food looked a little inconsistent from what we observed.

Our only major criticism was the rooftop pool bar staff. Unfortunately, they were consistently rude and inattentive. On several occasions we were ignored while staff chatted amongst themselves instead of serving waiting customers. Service also seemed very inefficient, with multiple members of staff involved in serving a single customer. Drink prices also appeared inconsistent, and the staff did not enforce their own policy about not wearing swimwear in the eating areas.

Despite this, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The hotel itself is very good, with comfortable rooms, great facilities, and excellent reception staff. If the service at the rooftop bar improved, this would easily be a five-star experience.

Excellent location, close to all the shops, restaurants, public transport and harbour. A lovely relaxing modern hotel and spa. The staff from reception, bar and restaurant staff and cleaner were so friendly and attentive. Rooms were very spacious, clean and bed was very comfortable. Air conditioning was a must and worked really well. Great value for money,
