Caretta Beach Hotel is a well-organized family destination located in the Kalamaki resort, a renowned nesting area for the Caretta-Caretta turtles—a beautiful creature that inspired the hotel's name. The long sandy beach is just a short walk away and can also be reached via a private bus.
Situated 850 meters from the beach, Caretta Beach Resort & WaterPark features a water park with six slides for adults, six slides for kids, outdoor swimming pools, a wave pool, and a lazy river. The front desk is available 24/7 to assist guests. Dining options include three restaurants—two buffet-style and one à la carte—offering a variety of local and international cuisines. Guests can also choose from three bars and a snack bar for quick refreshments and light meals.
All rooms at the hotel are equipped with a wardrobe, air conditioning, and a flat-screen TV. The private bathrooms include a bath and a hairdryer, ensuring a comfortable stay for all guests.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Where do I even start? 😂
Let’s be honest — it’s not great.
We arrived and, despite requesting a low-floor room, were promptly given a room on the top floor. Nothing says “welcome to your relaxing holiday” quite like hauling your luggage up to the heavens. Thankfully, we managed to move rooms the next day, and the new room was much better.
We had a family room, which was actually fairly spacious, so credit where it’s due. No tea or coffee facilities, but fair enough. The fridge, however, was completely empty — not even a bottle of water. I’ve seen more exciting contents in an empty shoebox.
Then there was the shower. Hot water appeared to be on a rota. 😂 One minute you’re enjoying a nice warm shower, the next you’re standing there wondering if you’ve accidentally been transported to the Arctic. You never quite knew whether you were going to get hot water or a surprise ice bath.
The room was supposedly cleaned 3–4 times a week. I say “cleaned” in the loosest possible sense. It felt more like someone walked in, looked around, decided it was probably fine and walked back out again.
The food… wow.
If you enjoy eating exactly the same thing every day, you’re going to absolutely love this place. For everyone else, there are plenty of restaurants nearby for when you eventually crack and can’t face another plate of the same food.
The drinks aren’t much better. The beer was absolutely awful and the Coke tasted like it had been introduced to a Coke once, from a distance. 😂 Fanta and lemonade were okay, and some of the cocktails were actually decent, so there is hope.
The staff are nice enough and, to be fair, they do try to help. They probably deserve a medal for working with what they’ve got.
The daytime entertainment is another highlight — mainly because it gives you plenty of time to leave the hotel and find something better to do. The activities are pretty much the same every day and get boring very quickly.
The location is probably the hotel’s biggest saving grace. There are plenty of shops, bars and places to eat nearby, so at least you’re not trapped inside.
I also made the questionable decision to have a massage at the spa. Let’s just say it wasn’t exactly the relaxing experience I had in mind. The bloke doing it was absolutely massive and seemed to believe the best massage technique was putting his entire body weight through me. At one point I wasn’t sure whether I was having a massage or being flattened by a small building. 😂
Overall, there are some positives — the location is good, the staff are friendly enough and the family room was spacious after we escaped the top floor.
But the food, drinks, cleaning, shower and entertainment really let the place down.
Would I come back?
Probably not.
Would I recommend it?
Only if you enjoy eating the same food every day, drinking questionable beer, playing “spot the cleaner”, rolling the dice on whether your shower will be hot and receiving a massage that feels like you’ve been hit by a bus. 😂
Delete one review for dirty towels left by the cleaner but manager sort it promptly and provide clean ones two adult + 16 and 17 year olds love the hotel and facilities I would recommend this hotel and would come back maybe towels was a mistake..5 star to staff and professional service thank you..probably see you again next year.. Rooms were good and cleaned on a daily basis, food hall was quite repetitive but that is standard for all inclusive hotels. The staff were friendly but what made the hotel was the entertainment team. Shout out to everyone. Hakim and tara get a big shout out but honestly the whole entertainment team is superb. It would be unfair to say only a few as they are all AMAZING. Kids club is good and very welcoming. Best game personally is the aqua volleyball, very competitive especially when Hakim is playing. Bar team was superb and always friendly. What makes it more personal is when the bar team knows your drinks when they see you they just start making it. I would recommend it and I would go again.
Perfect location to start with it’s literally 5 minutes away from the airport. The staff can not do enough for you! Always so friendly and welcoming. Mohammed was great who works on the bar servicing drinks at the pool bar in the daytime and then bar near the Greek restaurant at night. Hakeem great entertainer! Winnie and Keisha was great with our daughter she would rather be with them than us a lot of the time. The life guards at the waterpark are super nice especially Nicole and the Greek guy in his late 30s. Always very chatty and funny. Some of the restaurant staff again too many to mention were super lovely. The manager also was very approachable and lovely guy. Our room was perfect, we had a 1 bedroom apartment type room so we were closed off from the kids. Cleaned daily. We left things around at times and wasn’t ever touched. My son put his phone on sight a lot and never moved even when in the waterpark we left bags under our sun loungers and never touched. We did the turtle watch Bay Area, Keri caves, forgot the beach we saw but an amazing experience and easy to book. We would definitely go back! I’m not easy to please but this made all of us happy and relaxed! Ages 6, 15, 32 and 42.
